RockWithaJaggedyBit · 26/06/2013 21:49

Hey SaR, not much advice to offer in terms of dating, but would just say that "he messages me every day mostly but it can only be a few messages" sounds fine to me. But then I am not exactly Queen Of Texting.

OWW hope you are having a lovely time.

And Bant let CC do the running. You're right, you're nobody's goose. Peacock maybe, but no goose Smile

lurkinglorna · 26/06/2013 22:31

hello all, hello new one i'm new too Smile

all quiet on the romance front here!

been to meetup event, seems "interesting" as in i liked the activity and 1 or 2 "hmmmm, not bad" guys and everyone lovely. But concentrating on training and then wanted to get home. saturday night there is a group social event so am tempted on that - but need to keep the spends low.

one "recently seperated guy" a bit friendly (insisted on telling me he had seperated etc) much OLDER than me so have to be careful i don't act too "available single woman" in front of HIM. Ha ha ha - reminds me of why i love the 1-1 nature of internet dating so much, always tricky in a mixed "group" interacting with guys you actually want to get to know a bit better without treading on anyone else's toes!

scandinavian guy e-mailed just a one liner to say he had ended up working in a city i used to live in, so i sent a one liner back Smile

got some "flirty" Blush messages from an old lover (old as in previous, not like 81 or anything).

Am I the only one who feels a bit stuffed in terms of location? Confused he'll be accessible when i move to the big city, but for now i have to "make the most of what's local". most of my memorable dates since i've lived here have been long distance!

lurkinglorna · 26/06/2013 22:34

cake and dresses! Smile mmmmmmmm

Flipper924 · 26/06/2013 22:37

Lorna, the local available men here are dire. A walk around the town centre (well, shopping centre, we don't really have a town centre) usually has me coming out in hives, so it's not surprising that I haven't met the man of my dreams. Because I'm basically a big snob.

Welcome, Sux. Agree with what Rock says about the texting.

Come in, Wine, there's plenty of cake left and some gin...

lurkinglorna · 26/06/2013 22:40

ha ha flipper Smile, yeah i'm not that posh myself

.... but i don't like men in tracksuits unless its for sports purposes Blush or ones who just are a bit "small townish" in mentality?

glad you have cake and garden (hopefully that meant sunshine too wherever you are!)

Djangounhinged · 26/06/2013 22:43

Hello all, I keep promising myself to be more active on this thread and get a bit more involved, as I've been skirting round the edges... Then I sat down with a glass of wine after a very long day and have slight head spin.

So, happy birthday Flipper, happy holidays Snape, and you're no goose, Bant Wink... And to everyone else Smile

Having said that I had nothing to report the other day, I've been on a bit of a chatting frenzy courtesy of POF! The cute joiner reappeared after the obligatory 2 week disappearance, but bless him, he's been totally blown out of the water by 3 newbies who actually show an interest in me. Actually, only 2 of them showing an interest, and one of those is brand new to OD and a bit earnest (but great taste in music so I'm keeping up contact). The other one is currently away on holiday so I'm impressed that he's maintaining contact.

The third one, well, we've agreed a date!! He likes the look of me, doesn't seem that bothered about finding out more about me, bit of an alpha male. Not my usual type and the date is over 2 weeks away so may well fall by the wayside by then, but he is promising me that once I've met him, I won't want anyone else, and I'm intrigued by that... Go me!

Lovely to see there's a few dates going on around here Smile

SuckAtRelationships · 26/06/2013 22:47

luring I'm with you on location. I live in the most rural village of the most rural place! haha Also tracksuits? Totally agree.

Thanks on opinions wrt texting. If I don't watch it I will only make him more distant.

I spot it's your birthday Flipper so happy birthday :)

Djangounhinged · 26/06/2013 22:47

And hello Sux Smile, I think daily texting sounds pretty keen, although I can see that if you like lots of chatty/flirty texts that its a bit frustrating.... Might become less of an issue as you get to know each other better?

Djangounhinged · 26/06/2013 22:49

Lorna I'm in a remote spot too, have run out of eligible types locally and am now chatting with men from next again city, almost 80 miles away Sad

lurkinglorna · 26/06/2013 22:50

hello SucksAtR! Smile

have you joined the online dating madhouse yet?

OhWesternWind · 26/06/2013 22:52

Grin Grin

Well, oh goodness, I could get to like this man ...

So easy to talk to, he was saying how quickly the time has gone, how well we get on. Lovely meal and I have a new favourite drink Pimms Royale. He was saying how he always looks out for my texts. All went really well I think BUT nothing happening at all with kissing etc. Had a little hug and a kiss on the cheek when we met, three kisses when we were going but nothing of a snogging ilk. This has me confused. Is it all just old-fashioned taking it slowly or does he not like me?

lurkinglorna · 26/06/2013 22:52

ha ha, my next big move I hope it will be SWEET TTTTTTTTTTTRRRRRRROOOOOOLLLEYY (actually I probably won't be able to go out then, bloody housing costs Angry).

till then i am very familiar with cheap coaches and smirking as i sneak into hotels with dates Blush

lurkinglorna · 26/06/2013 22:55

whoop whoop on a good date OWW! Smile i will google pimms royale now, it sounds sophisticated!

Flipper924 · 26/06/2013 22:55

Thanks again for all the birthday wishes! I love you, thread.

Djangounhinged · 26/06/2013 23:05

OWW loving the sound of your date, and of Pimms Royale!

I know that if I really quite fancy someone, I'm very keen for a test run snog, so it must be frustrating if one isn't forthcoming.... But all the other signs coming from Alpha are good, so I reckon he is just being gentlemanly.

Maybe next date will be more conducive to snogging? Somewhere a bit quieter / more private?

JulietteMontague · 26/06/2013 23:09

OWW he likes you! No snog means he wouldn't want to impose, nothing more you say this after any date with no snog, you know that right? Grin

RockWithaJaggedyBit · 26/06/2013 23:16

Sounds like a good date OWW. This was your second date? Seems to me that he likes you . . .and fwiw, I like old fashioned. I think old fashioned is very underrated.

OhWesternWind · 26/06/2013 23:17

I do, don't I Juliette

You see, after two really good dates I would think a bit of snogging is in order just to test things out like Django said.

Just had a text off him saying he talked too much and next time (

OhWesternWind · 26/06/2013 23:20

Oh he's really nice. I am more excited about this now than I was before we met up again.

I'm going to stop posting now honestly as I am starting to sound like a fourteen year old with a crush but oooh I am all of a flutter now. Haven't felt like this in months. Think it must be the Pimms talking.

Djangounhinged · 26/06/2013 23:54

Oh OWW that is flippin ace! Please keep posting, we want updates Grin

Bant · 27/06/2013 00:42

Oww - that's fantastic. No snogging isn't necessarily a bad thing, he's old fashioned. And saying he looked forward to texts is great. Remember the Rules tho and don't get too carried away...

Kirstywirsty · 27/06/2013 06:11

OWW I am grinning for you Grin all sounds great

snape happy holidays .. Corfu will be fab

bant how was CC?

After silence all week from my Monday lunch date ( I know he likes me as a friend at work set us up and she showed me his feedback from the date was 'FANTASTIC ' (his capitals) so wasn't stressing) just had a Facebook invite and a few messages back and forth .. Only 2 weeks till the next date .. He goes on hols tomorrow

Bant · 27/06/2013 07:07

Feh.
I got chatting to several people last night, including a local woman who was there with friends, sat with them and forgot that CheshireCat hadn't responded to my 'whereabouts are you?' text after an hour. Went to get a drink and bumped into CC. Said I was chatting to friends, come join if she wanted.

After another 15 minutes I noticed she was at the next table, sitting there, being beautiful, you know. So I made my excuses to the people I was sat with and sat with CC and her lot for a while. Chatted again, she was flirting a bit, lots of private smiles for me, knee touching etc. you know, like she fancied me.

I walked her home after a while (the other lot had left and I'd said goodbye). More chatting. No flirting. No kiss. Again.

Hugely mixed signals, and its very difficult to just give up and walk away because she's just so bloody pretty and sweet.

Aarrgghh

World war Z was good though. If you like 3d zombies

48howdidthathappen · 27/06/2013 07:45

Sounding good OWW Smile

He does sound like he doesn't want to rush things would drive me crazy

AWarmFuzzyFuture · 27/06/2013 07:50

Morning!

Bant CC sounds like a slow boat to no where. Sorry to be blunt (I think you can take it), she is enjoying the attention, but doesn't fancy you enough to turn it into anything.

OWW he sounds lovely (my so overworked adjective) it's sometimes good to savour the beginning (although you may be drivien mad with desire in the process!)

Kirsty two weeks is a long time when you've had a great start, whatcha going to do in the meantime...?

Jules when is Dutchman arriving? At least the 'mask' is off.

Hello to: (drum roll please) lurkinglorna, 48howdidthathappen (how's mama?),RockWithaJaggedyBit,Flipper924, Djangounhinged, SuckAtRelationships
