Not important, but is this a red flag?

Only been on 2 dates with this guy so not invested at all - he is a police officer on duty in a busy part of town tonight.

Have just received a text saying he is playing "spot the skank and whore"

That's not ok is it? Or is it and I'm overreacting?

My gut reaction was that I didn't like it, but I can't work out if I'm being precious! Think ill stick with being single, this dating malarkey is hard work!

I have just yesterday dumped someone for referring to "darkies" Shock in a text. He was previously rather charming. I haven't said anything just not replied to his texts and deleted from FB.

MissStrawberry · 01/06/2013 21:08

how do you FEEL

IF YOU ARE ANNOYED

CRODS ANGRY

SAD DISAPPINTRED OR DISIMPRESED THEN BIN HIM THE RPRAT

Chubfuddler · 01/06/2013 21:08

Medical students at uni are barely more than children. This is irrelevant to the behaviour of a fully fledged police officer who is tasked with safe guarding all of society.

MissStrawberry · 01/06/2013 21:08

A10980 I THINK you are trying otrb ecool

A1980 · 01/06/2013 21:09

Mind you a little bit double.standard.

What does LTB on here stand for?

The amount of names men.are called on here.

rainbowfeet · 01/06/2013 21:11

Chubfuddler.... I'm not saying its acceptable but that would be fairly pleasant compared to some of the things I've heard coppers say to each other .... I'm not saying its all of them but it goes on a lot!!!

My ex makes it pretty clear he looks down on me & has a way of speaking down to me that makes me feel like crap he wasn't like that before he became a police officer!!

KatieScarlett2833 · 01/06/2013 21:11

In 28 years of front line work I have NEVER called any of my customers disgusting names like that. I suspect that is because I am not a woman hating twat. Shock

sillymillyb · 01/06/2013 21:13

Sorry, I really didn't mean to spark a debate on coppers!

I was disappointed I think, then wary.... I have a little boy and would hate for him to think this was ok, and so for me, I think it's a deal breaker.

I know some people are saying that's just the way some police talk, and I understand that, I think it's prob just too soon for me after 2 dates to be making allowances.

Thank you for helping me work out how I feel about it though - and again, I really didn't intend to start any debates so sorry about that!

OP posts:
Chubfuddler · 01/06/2013 21:14

I'm not understanding your point really rainbow feet. Your ex sounds like a complete cunt tbh.

Men in general aren't called anything other than "men" a1980. Men who verbally, physically, sexually, financially and verbally abuse their wives and children deserve every name they get called.

forumdonkey · 01/06/2013 21:17

Am I reading the same thread as everyone else? You're considering finishing it with him because of that???

He has my sympathies for doing the job he does especially if he is out at work on a Saturday night in a city centre because quite frankly there are an awful lot of skanks and whores about and he has to deal with the worst at their worst. - Give the guy a break

Chubfuddler · 01/06/2013 21:18

< face palm >

rainbowfeet · 01/06/2013 21:20

Sillymillyb blimey its harder not to start a debate on here!!! Lol

My ex is dating a colleague 15 years his junior (which I'm loving, because for once since our split he is the one doing something a little inappropriate)!! Wink But I've had to pull him up on things they've both said in front of my dd who's 9, completely unacceptable words to describe black people .. Language that I don't want her to hear & repeat!!

rainbowfeet · 01/06/2013 21:24

I was simply trying to say it is very common for police officers to talk like that amongst themselves!! No point to be made... So if you were to sack all the twats there wouldn't be many left!!! (Why do people have to be so aggressive when they post on here)!! Confused

babyhammock · 01/06/2013 21:24

I think it would be awful from anyone tbh, but especially bad from a policeman :(
FWIW my ex spoke about women like this.... my biggest mistake was not listening to the huge red flag that it was

rootypig · 01/06/2013 21:24

The police call women skanks and whores. They think this is ok. Other people know all about it, and they think it's ok too.

I have no love for the police, but I held them in higher esteem than that.

Ugh, I'm depressed.

And yeah OP, ditch him.

Chubfuddler · 01/06/2013 21:26

Oh well that's ok then rainbow.

Do you really not see the problem here? You think i'm aggressive but it's ok for the police to refer to people in this way?

Have you hit your head?

SgtTJCalhoun · 01/06/2013 21:27

forumdonkey I would finish with Bradley Cooper if he referred to women in that way and I think we can all agree that Bradders is about as attractive as its possible to be.

I simply cannot understand how a woman could continue to find a man attractive after he uses those terms to describe dressed up women trying to have a fun night out Confused.

forumdonkey · 01/06/2013 21:28

Did I miss that it was women that were being called exclusively 'skanks' ? I took it it context that it was a 'term of endearment' for the men and women who will be out getting so drunk they can barely walk, abusive and wouldn't be out of place in Jerermy Kyles holding pen

SgtTJCalhoun · 01/06/2013 21:28

Oh and if YOU could define what exactly you mean when you use the words skanks and whores as you did in your last post that would be helpful.

You're a bloke aren't you?

sillymillyb · 01/06/2013 21:31

I'm regretting not lying and saying he was a bar man or something Smile

OP posts:
forumdonkey · 01/06/2013 21:33

When was the last time you went up into a city centre and seen the appauling behaviour of some men and women who are completely pissed out of their heads? Jeremy Kyle fodder

Chubfuddler · 01/06/2013 21:33

Why would you regret exposing the foulness of this person?

bamboostalks · 01/06/2013 21:33

Sadly, it doesn't surprise me at all.

Chubfuddler · 01/06/2013 21:34

I don't think anyone did say only women were being referred to as skanks

The point is the police are there to protect everyone. Not place value judgements on members of the public in some form of copper lotto for their own amusement.
