Some of you will recall that our beloved, darling old family friend died on the 24th March. His daughter was unable to obtain the death certificate as she was told that a doctor was unavailable. She arranged a provisional date for his funeral with the undertakers on 12th April. This all had to be re-arranged as she was then told that there would be a post-mortem despite the fact that her dad had been in hospital for weeks. Everything was held up as the coroner was on holiday! Harry's body was still in the hospital mortuary. She finally obtained the death certificate last week after being told that there was such a backlog that a post-mortem would not be carried out!

Harry's funeral will be on the 29th April.

My question is this:- "How the f**k is Maggie Thatcher's funeral taking place so quickly when Southend hospital couldn't find one single doctor to sign a death certificate and why was there no cover for the coroner's holiday???"

Was Thatcher being dealt with by Southend hospital? I imagine she was having private care. I'm sorry for your friend's daughter's experience.

I'm up. We had a glorious weekend but littlekitty has decided we are up right now; disrupted sleep in the day due to my godson's party today; lots to process; doggies, duckies, balls, parkland, climbing on logs, swings, slides, sticks, being a pirate etc....

yes themidwife it is true. most hospitals do accept (I only know of one Trust in London who doesn't..) payment for LCP targets. HUGE payments for the number of people to die on the pathway
