How long were you together before you had children?

Friend of mine has just announced she is pregnant and they have been together 18 months, of which the first six months they weren't together "properly" because she was still married and with her dh.

I feel this is very soon and I worry if she is doing the right thing, but of course it's her choice.

Dh had been together over five years when I got pregnant, and I'm glad we had some childfree years together.

dh#1, together 3 months when I got pregnant (unplanned) with ds
dh#2 we already had ds and had been together 3 years when I got pregnant (planned) with dd

about 6 weeks but had known him for about 6-7 months

we've been together now for 7 years at the end of this year

10 years

9 years. We didn't want children then all of a sudden decided we did

Together for 2 years and then married for 4 years

But when i met Dp i already had my 4 year old Ds, so have been parents the whole time really, we had our Dd when Ds was 11.
Weve been together 10 years now, and are getting married xmas 2007.

had ds1 may 1999
had ds2 may 2000....!!!

DH and I met in May 2001

I moved in with him in Sept 2001

Found out we were pregnant in December 2001 (planned by both of us)

DD born in August 2002

Married in July 2003

My dh and I were together ten years before having kids. Looking back I don't know what on earth took us so long.
Ah yes I remember now. My career.

So we had been a couple for 7 months.

Started dating DH when I was 17, got married at 21, had DS 6 years later and DD 2y3mo after that.

dh and I were engaged after 4 months, pregnant after 9 (planned ), married after 2 years and pregnant again a month after the wedding Dh was a fast mover!

Met dh in 2001.
Was his lodger.
Stopped paying rent.
Payment in kind
Married July - was 3 mths pregnant.

Sorry , married Jul 03, so together 2 1/2 yrs before marriage & pregnancy.

Married 9 years prior to dd. Been a couple 12 years prior to dd. Know each other16 years prior to dd!

Glad we did the DINKY stuff when we did

my parents are good friends with a couple who married after something like 12 days and 40 yrs/ 2 children on are still married

not sure time is that relevant
some people work quicker than others

4 years by the time dd1 was born

I was pg 3 months after first date. We had been angaed a month, and living together 2 months (had also been engaed when we met a few weeks before started dating, but that had fallen apart anyway and that was why we lived together so quickly- I had to live somewhere)

Sam was conceived by choice, we're still married 6 years on and we now have three.

It can work. Honestly. Even if it seems stupid to everyone else, as it would have done to me if a friend had done it.
