Only the best is good enough.

libby I'm torn too, I also feel like maybe I should wait for him to contact me. I think he seems nice, defiantly has a good body, not sure how much I fancy him, but it was difficult having my sister, his brother and brothers wife watching us Hmm

I think he would be a much better date then some of the wierd guys I've been meeting from pof... and yes i would like to get to know him better.

and as i said apparrrently he is very shy.

hopefully the date saturday goes well, if it happens Smile

Movingforward123 · 26/07/2012 21:43

ok, I think i'm going to message him??? someone wise tell me what to do??? ekkk lol

mercury7 · 26/07/2012 21:48

Moving I'm no expert but perhaps a quick friendly message to give him an opening?
If he doesnt pick up the ball and run with it then leave things?

Movingforward123 · 26/07/2012 21:50

Ok, great you have talked me into it Grin are you sure its not desperate? and will just be friendly...Wink

AndLibbyMakesThree · 26/07/2012 21:54

Let us know what happens, Moving. And yes, agree with Mercury, if he doesn't reply, then just leave it and don't message him again. Hope he does though!

Movingforward123 · 26/07/2012 21:59

ahhhh ekkkk I've just done it Shock

and just to update on other news, guy I had date with saturday that offered to do my garden, I've just told him i wont be seeing him again...

Why oh why do i waste time on guys that I know I will never be into??? Does anyone else do that??

mercury7 · 26/07/2012 22:02

yep I do all kinds of dumb things all the time Confused
my stupidity knows no bounds:o

Movingforward123 · 26/07/2012 22:06

oh well its good that your so honest, but you could have told me that before you advised that I could send a friendly message Grin

now i'm wondering if i should have done that or not Shock

mercury7 · 26/07/2012 22:08

dont panic I was being facetious Wink
I'm sure it wont do any harm..and I suspect you were going to do it anyway :o

Movingforward123 · 26/07/2012 22:13

well its too late, i've already done it, but it was just friendly and didnt say i want to get you naked so atleast thats something Grin

but seriously, why do we bother with guys we are not interested in? This needs to stop on my part asap... If i dont want to be seen by people i know with my date, then i shouldnt see them again, ever!!

OhWesternWind · 26/07/2012 22:15

Hi everyone

Can I join in again?

I am feeling a bit low about all this online dating stuff, even though I've only been at it a couple of weeks/couple of dates. It is just seeming like hard work at the moment, and all a bit "false". Give me a talking to please!

Have got another date for tomorrow if I can find a baby sitter (usual two are off on holiday) so I need to perk up a bit!

OhWesternWind · 26/07/2012 22:17

Been getting a lot of stupid messages tonight, nothing rude or anything, just stuff you wonder how on earth people think that makes a good opening line!

mercury7 · 26/07/2012 22:24

'just stuff you wonder how on earth people think that makes a good opening line!'

when I get messages like that I assume that's what passes for witty and charming in his social circle so he's clearly not for me

Movingforward123 · 26/07/2012 22:24

western - I know how you feel, I dont think internet dating is working, so not very good at giving you a talking to as i call POF @plenty of freaks' Grin

ParsleyTheLioness · 27/07/2012 08:36

Some of the ones that messaged me did not have teeth...I have now closed my account, but had never committed to putting a photo up there anyhoo. Just can't bear the thought of it really, but admire anyone who is giving it a go. Didn't expect to be back to Frog Kissing at my age is part of the problem.

Lueji · 27/07/2012 08:58

On shyness.

The current Mr VN was contacted by me, but he really took off from there and contact between us has been promoted both ways.

On the other hand I've had a supposedly shy bloke wanting to stay in contact, but in a way that hasn't promoted getting to know eachother. I left the door open. His call.

Also I married a shy man. Erm... Friends and I had to push a little for first contacts. It was crippling because he resisted being around people, was virtually socially inept, and ultimately was crap at emotional stuff.

I'd thread carefully and see how his shyness affects his life and a relationship.
Assuming he replies to your message. :o

MrsToddNeeLovett · 27/07/2012 09:14

Hi guys.

I have my 2nd date tonight. Everything still going well so far - lots of texts and niceities. Plan was we'd go to cinema and then off to see a few bands and get drunk but last night he text and asked if we could go for a drink before cinema too - hoping this isn't an opportunity for him to say "lets just stay friends, yeah?" before the night gets underway but we shall see!

Nothing he's said in his texts has hinted towards that - in fact he's been hinting at meals out, him cooking for me and more cinema trips so I'm probably hopefully just being paranoid.

watchoutforthatsnail · 27/07/2012 09:19

morning :)

Just wanted to pop in and say hi before i am off for the weekend. Am very excited, cant wait to get away.
I kind of feel the weekend might be make of break in terms of MRL, the sleep thing has bothered me, but hes been lovely since and we have spoken about it. But i think 48 hrs in each others company in a tent in a field with no distractions will be telling, it will either be great, or a total disaster!!

He asked me away at the end of aug too ( globe theatre to see hamlet), which ive not committed to at this point, just in case.

Hope you all have fab dates over the weekend

Lueji · 27/07/2012 09:46

Fingers crossed, MrsTodd and Watch. :)

I'd think meeting for drinks would be nice in a getting to know way. Before cinema and louder stuff.
I'd say it's a good sign.

I had a dream today that Mr VN and I were having dinner at my parents. Shock Not sure what that means... I suppose it's because it's been playing in my mind what my mother will think. As I'm not even divorced yet.

Watch, I think the sleeping thing would become a problem for a long term relationship, if he can't even contemplate sleeping in another bed away from home.

Well, off for breakfast and the beach. :o

watchoutforthatsnail · 27/07/2012 10:23

its not another bed thats the problem, he can sleep anywhere. its basically me being in it.
He says hes not used to and has never really slept next to somoene else before, and he doesnt sleep. He says hes willing to do it to get used to it, but not when its work the next day, as it will be crap to be at work all day having only had 3 hrs sleep.
which is understandable i think.

MyLittleMiracles · 27/07/2012 11:43

"lueji* i am not divorced yet either. Don't worry about it, you gotta move on sometime, can't spend your life crying over someone.

Little man is being particularly hard work today, dunno why, maybe its cos I am tired and in need of food.

MyLittleMiracles · 27/07/2012 11:55

watch I think its just a case if taking time to adjust.

ParsleyTheLioness · 27/07/2012 12:02

Watch nothing to stop him practising this at weekends, and hopefully he will get used to it.

FateLovesTheFearless · 27/07/2012 12:42

Lubey - the distance thing is bloody hard. I have been with S for nearly a year now and it's been a lot of ups and downs along the way. It's a real roller coaster for the woman, the excitement of him arriving, the dreading the leaving. The communication side of things did my head in as well, there were times I detested texting because it's so emotionless.

Definitely talk to your man. If you need reassurance ask for it. In a LDR it stands to reason the you will question things a lot more than a conventional relationship. If he is worth his salt, he will reassure you. If he can't then don't put yourself through a LDR anymore.

Hi to everyone else! Smile

MyLittleMiracles · 27/07/2012 13:36
