Caligula I thought exactly the same thing - see deja vu comment.

  1. You are unclear as to what the £1200 your husband provides for your use has to pay for. As your income is covering books, toys and clothes, and he is covering bills.
  1. You are unclear as to your financial circumstances. You must have a fair idea of the minimum amount of money your husband is receiving each month, as I am sure you know his occupation.

  2. You are unclear as to how much you were spending before he capped your Barcley Card.

Goodness me...what a lot of post on this thread!

Am very envious of you Carla.

Just give us a printout of your last BC bill and then we can all go to bed!

Milge · 07/01/2006 23:53

This thread might cause me to break my "no alcohol in January" rule. It is doing my head in!

Janh · 07/01/2006 23:54

180 messages in an hour is bloody good going!

mazzystar · 07/01/2006 23:54

carla, what's not clear is what you have to pay for from the money your h ( i noted the loss of d in your original post) will cover on your card - the £1200.

collision · 07/01/2006 23:54

Sorry batters.

soapbox · 07/01/2006 23:55

Right, I think I have got it now!

Your DH has a credit card which he puts the things he pays for onto. He is pissed off that paying for things when he is out with you and the girls and his other 'household' expenditure is getting too high, and says he will only pay for £1200 pm on his card. The rest you have to meet.

You usually pay, out of your own income (not his BC) for all the fripperies ect!

So you pay for most of the general household stuff, bills, food, etc etc out of your income. And also you own the house. So you don't see why DH should get away with saying he will spend no more than £1200 pm on joint expenditure items!

Is that it??????

nutcracker · 07/01/2006 23:55

Soapbox, no, there's talk of his and mine with BCs. It can't be that simple!

Heathcliffscathy · 07/01/2006 23:57

nutcracker · 07/01/2006 23:58

So you do pay for food and bills and whatever else out of the £1200

hunkermunker · 07/01/2006 23:58

Carla, you're not making sense still!

You've said your BC doesn't cover food, now it does.

£1200 a month is more than reasonable unless you eat swans wrapped in gold leaf every night.

starlover · 07/01/2006 23:58

so your BC pays for all the bills and food and stuff

and your wages is what goes on bits and bobs, clothes and toys etc?

starlover · 07/01/2006 23:59

oh no, you said he pays all bills

nutcracker · 07/01/2006 23:59

I still think it is a good amount of money to have even if it does include bills and food.

Millions of people manage on a hell of a lot less.

Milge · 08/01/2006 00:00

has Jan done a or shall I?

starlover · 08/01/2006 00:00

do you know what i think you should do?

one: have a joint bank account and BOTH pay for bills and food etc etc

two: cancel the barclaycard and curb the spending!
