hatesponge · 24/11/2011 21:21

have blocked the boxer on POF, was dignified and didn't send a message. instead I sat and shared a box of chocolate fingers with Ds1 sod the diet for a night

in other news one of our v v senior bosses (who I worked directly for a couple of years ago when he was less senior) came and spoke to me today, he was on a brief visit to our office, and said how well I was looking Grin which was the one bright spot in a crap day at work!

TimeForChristmasSpirit · 24/11/2011 21:23

So a good day in all then sponge, chocolate fingers and a compliment from the big boss. Brilliant! Smile

Zanywany · 24/11/2011 21:24

Enjoy your sex curry Lubey

Well I am meeting Mr Yachts sister on Saturday. A bit nervous as I know he is very close to her

adamschic · 24/11/2011 21:29

Start, you are spot on you can tell if you fancy someone or not only when you meet up. I have been on loads of blind dates and have managed to see the date through for a least an hour, when I havent been attracted to them and have never had anyone leg it or look obviously disappointed yet!

My potential date has surfaced again, seems like he has limited connectivity and is probably going on line via an internet cafe so has asked me to ring him. I would if I had a phone number Confused. Told him to ring me and if he does I'm going to sort out meeting up once and for all.

hatesponge · 24/11/2011 21:38

Time yes I came over all schoolgirly-giggly Blush he is my perfect man, burly, rugby playing type, but intelligent and successful too, shame he's (v happily) married! but at least proves that my ideal does exist even if they have prob all been snapped up already

PoppaRob · 24/11/2011 22:30

Zany! Meeting the sister! Don't stress too much about what she thinks mate, the very fact that he wants you to meet you means he's pretty serious about you, and if they're close I'm sure she'll give you the tick of approval. Nice! Am I the only one picturing a Notting Hill kind of moment with Hugh Grant as Mr Yacht and Emma Chambers as the cool but loony sister? :)

hatesponge, that's the thing isn't it? We're walking on eggshells trying to create the right impression where the happily married/coupled ones are exuding confidence from every pore and cheerfully getting on with life. Bastards!

Zanywany · 24/11/2011 22:46

I play the cool but loony one to perfection Grin

p.s. I may be coupled up but I have fuck
all confidence

PoppaRob · 24/11/2011 22:56

zany, cool loonyness is very attractive! Let the confidence build slowly. Much better to be quietly confident than full of smug confidence that's just insincere bullshit.

stayformulledwine · 24/11/2011 22:57

Zany being nervous about meeting family of a boyfriend does not mean you have no confidence. It just means you want to make a really good impression because you are into your bloke and everyone feels that, even the most confident ones :) be yourself and enjoy yourself!

Milkandlotsofwineplease · 25/11/2011 10:33

Morning all,

Hope everyone is well? I haven't been on for a while as there has been nothing to report. Been talking to lot's of guys on OKC but most of them seem to show their true colours after a few messages, and start to come across as not being quite as pleasant as they like to make out.

I've whittled it down to a few likely ones though. I find it quite reassuring that the men seem as insecure as we do. Lot's of "Oh why did I just say that?" and "Argh, I probably sound boring now"-bless.

I am meeting a rather sweet, messy haired, mad looking thing on Saturday night for a drink. His messages are hilarious, and utterly adorable. I'm just praying to God I find him attractive in the flesh. I don't want a serious BF at the minute, but I'm very much up for having somebody cute to spend time with. In RL I've managed to get myself into a hideous situation with a guy in an 'open relationship' (barf) I am utterly besotted, and heading for severe heartbreak if I don't get my head together! Need some distraction.

Also, I got a message from OKC saying I have one of the most looked at profiles. God knows how, I'm no supermodelGrin I was flattered for a moment but then thought that maybe they send them to everyone to boost their egos?.

Snapespeare · 25/11/2011 11:16

lubey how was your cough curry?

zany yay for sister! thrilling! :)

nothing doing with me - I am in drought season. :) thats fine.

swallowedAfly · 25/11/2011 11:35

i've had a long old drought snape Grin

there's certainly been no floods for quite a while.

what are you up to this evening? i'm up to absolutely nothing much at all. i've said i'll do lunch this sunday so bit of cooking, socialising, family stuff then but nothing planned for tomorrow.

so far with fitboy he's popped over here and come on a dog walk and for a pint with me for a couple of hours and i've popped over there to pick something up and done hanging around in his world for an hour or two.

we're being all 'normal' stuff rather than going on dates with a capital D and it's in that open space where it's ok, we could turn out to be friends and not have bodged anything or we could cross that line and become more. despite initially just wanting a shag if i was honest i'm quite happy with it as is - he's actually alright and someone i'd be mates with happily so hmm. he's got a little girl as well so... i dunno. it's not messing people around/or being messed around territory really.

i think i might be a bit scared of dads - is that weird? it's always been me and ds so i don't really know dads. random but appreciate any thoughts on that.

lubeybaublely · 25/11/2011 11:41

Hellooooo :o the curry (and the rest) was excellent thank you, had a great night and all is very fine and grinny in my world today. Now on with crappy work stuff and reailty. Hmph. Oh well at least it's Friday at last!

Zany I agree with Poppa and Stay, it's normal to be nervous, don't worry though just be your lovely self and I'm sure she will adore you as we all do :o

PoppaRob · 25/11/2011 11:45

swallowed, Dads are like Mums except we have boy bits instead of girl bits. The Dad and daughters thing can be a bit precious sometimes, but generally we try to fit in. I aways told my daughter she was adopted and I always hated her which helped normalise the relationship. I'm not sure if it's just me or we Aussie dads but generally Dads live with their kids where Mums live for them. Wink

swallowedAfly · 25/11/2011 12:06

yeah but i wouldn't know how to have a relationship with a mum either poppa! Grin

like the you were adopted strategy for keeping the daddy's little princess dodginess at bay Smile

PoppaRob · 25/11/2011 12:13

I was a single Dad when my daughter was a teenager... you have to "Keep it real" :)

Zanywany · 25/11/2011 14:03

Pleased to hear your curry was good Lubey always good to find a good one Grin and thankyou for the adoration

I personally would prefer to date a Dad, although it is more complicated as you have 2 schedules to sort out with regards to when you are both childfree I do think that it's once yuo are a parent that you understand certain things. For example when I was with my XP I spent my first Xmas Eve without the DC's and got upset thinking about it. He would walk around the house punching his fist in the air saying 'yeah no kids for Xmas' and was very unsupportive. I think another parent would understand how important a night it was and so would be sympathetic and support you. Then again I think my dog woulf have more sympathy/support than my XP so maybe not a very good example Grin

HOw's the writing going Watch Grin

Snapespeare · 25/11/2011 14:16

I have a lunch date on sunday. with a rather nice chap I have been texting and chatting to on the phone once or twice. He does lighting tech for lots of big festivals concerts etc. This might be followed up by a tuesday night date.

thinsg might be looking up. maybe.

Zanywany · 25/11/2011 14:59

If it works out Snape then you can join me and Time with her new wellies at Festivals Grin

Zanywany · 25/11/2011 15:00

PoppaRob · 25/11/2011 15:05

Zany! He thinks you're gorgeous, he wants to kiss you, he wants to hug you, he wants to love you, he wants to smooch you, he wants to hug you! Wink

Snapespeare · 25/11/2011 15:08

mr tech is in town doing coldplay gigs and suggested I might like to watch rehearsal. gracefully declined. I mean coldplay! pffft.

Snapespeare · 25/11/2011 15:15

:)

Zanywany · 25/11/2011 15:23

Ohhh Snape Coldplay are brilliant. Or should I call you GNBF (Gywnnie's New Best Friend)

I'm resisting the urge to say he is deluded Poppa and instead will sing 'Because I'm worth it!'
