The One Before

And All Others Before That

So, this is The Brave Babes Battle Bus.

All are welcome, regardless of your background, stage of sobriety, or anything else. Smile

I'm Mouse and have been here since June 2010, and in control of my drinking since August 2nd 2010.

You will find unconditional support here. Always.

Whatever you feel about drinking (or not), we've been in your shoes. Some more than once.

So, come say hi, come grab a seat. There is always an open door and a warm welcome on this Bus.

Miflaw try interjecting your favourite thing, ok, shoes not top of my list, but then sitting down to watch flipping cricket, and trying to be interested, see what I mean Grin. Is cricket your favourite thing?

MIFLAW · 07/03/2011 18:21

HELL no!

I do get your point, really I do.

I just don't really do specifically "blokey" things, I guess.

My partner likes buying shoes, and that's great.

It's when she expects me to give a fuck that the problems start.

Can you imagine what a cuddly, easy-going kinda guy I used to be when I drank?

Thank goodness you are funny as well as wise Miflaw

rumred · 07/03/2011 18:35

hello all

thanks jesus [it's been a while since i last said that]. i am working in social care, live with my partner and she has a 10 year old boy, my stepson.

her drinking is take it or leave it. mine is all take. work stressful at the moment, classic excuse for a g&t but i am desisting.

i think women only stuff is fine, really why are people so judgemental [she said judgementally]? live and let live

isinde- good luck with the battle. i shall make some lists and plans and stay booze free

Zanywany · 07/03/2011 18:48

I'm having a bit of a wine wobble too Indie so I have just got a non alcoholic beer. Take it hour by hour.

Had a busy day, been at work and then did about an hour and a half's gardening. Think my wobble is me thinking I can now 'treat' myself. Gooing to cook the DC's dinner and then do my nails instead.

MIFLAW · 07/03/2011 18:51

"Thank goodness you are funny as well as wise Miflaw" - thank goodness indeed! so many people whose lives I have brightened ...

jesuswhatnext · 07/03/2011 18:52

hi rumred!, you didnt have to answer all my very rude and probing questions, i was taking the piss out of MIF really! Grin, still, its nice to know a bit about you!, actaully, i find it fascinating that we are all quite different and yet so understand each other!

im just about ready for the meeting - i dont think it is a 'defining' question as such, it just seems that some women need to feel very safe before they can share - last week the main topic of conversation was the guilt that some feel about drinking when they were pregnant Sad (something, thank god, i didnt do, my drinking was not not such a problem 20 years ago) there was a river of tears cried that night!, it affected me all week really, my mind keeps going back to it, its so terribly sad, some of the women kind of 'check' their dcs against other peoples to see if they can detect some kind of damage, its the sort of guilt that will never go away - anyway, not sure where this is going, so, see you later babes!

Mouseface · 07/03/2011 19:12

Oh dear, lezzers and transvestites, what is this bus coming too? Grin

Do you know, I couldn't give a monkey's chuff what sex you all are, age, colour, height, weight or if you are a friend of Dorothy or not.

What matters to me is your continued support, sharing experiences, JWN's shoe fetish and just knowing that I can come on here for a chat or a wobble at anytime and one of you will be here.

But, also that I can return the favour too.

I love this Bus and all who ride him Wink

MIFLAW - you are rubbish at girls Grin but I can't help have a wee bit of a crush on you!

IsinDe - your posts are so refreshing to read these days. Such a different person to how you used to be. In the best way too. xx

thurso - see now I have you in my head as a Paul O'Grady drag, al la Lilly Grin

Where are these lush beauties that you are talking of? ASOS?? Is there a website?

And......... drum rol please........

Nemo has got his very first pair of shoes Smile

They are tiny and I cried. Such a soft tart! Grin

Sorry to butt in (again!!) but has anyone heard from bafana?
She hasn't been on the bus since thursday(unless she's name-changed and I missed it?) and I sent her a text earlier but didn't get a reply. Hope she's ok Confused

BBwannaB · 07/03/2011 19:25

Great to hear news about the DC as well as the Babes, fantastic news from JWN and the thought of Nemo in his little shoes brought a tear to my eye as well! It brought back memories of my DS first shoes size 3 and had to be specially ordered, now he is a 6ft man Sad

Mouseface · 07/03/2011 19:55

qo - nope, actually, But can I just say that sometimes on the bus, RL gets in the way. I'm hoping that's the case here too Smile

BB - I'm such a softy, I was the same with DD, 11 years ago!

notevenamousie · 07/03/2011 20:05

Evening all!
What a long time it takes to catch up with you all after a day at work etc. Today sounds good in most places, I'm so glad.

I laughed out loud at: Can you imagine what a cuddly, easy-going kinda guy I used to be when I drank? Natural endorphins - great medicine. Fortunately I don't have a girly girl, I could quite happily get through my life without ever discussing high heels.

qo I've not heard from Bafana.

Hang in there Indie

I am discovering that in my field there is no such thing as "just 9 til 5". I did a good hour extra today, and have late finishes that I know about both Tuesday and Thursday. I do wonder about DD and whether this is right but I'm sober, she's contentedly asleep and so I guess I just have to keep it in the day and keep doing what I'm doing. I feel fulfilled, if stretched a bit thin.

I never thought I would be saying this, but tonight I'm having a cozy evening of University Challenge and yet more work that I brought home. How I am going to find time to do my step 4 is at the back of my mind too. But, I saw my mum tonight, life is good, I never knew I could function at this level and be contented too. Amazing.

Love to all, sorry not to reply more individually.

Zanywany · 07/03/2011 20:07

On my second non alcoholic beer now and the wobbles are going. Romance is lovely thanks Mouse, I don't feel so scared by it all, just taking theings slow and enjoying it, he is one of the kindest and funniest guys I have met. Ahhh for Nemos first pair of shoes. I still have both DS and DD's first pair, it really feels like they are growing up when they need shoes.

dementedma · 07/03/2011 20:14

goodness, you hop off the bus for a few hours and have MIFLAW talking shoes, and lanky lesbians looking for transvestites and NEMO being properly shod at last. not before time, now send the child up a chimney somewhere and make him start earning his keep Grin. I still have a teensy wee pair of red boots which were DD1s first pair. She now stands a whopping 5ft 10" and wears a size 7! Can't do heels, she looks like a baby giraffe. DD2 is about 5 7" and wears killer heels when she goes out. She once referred to them as her "fuck me" shoes! As my parenting skills are dreadful I'm afraid I corpsed with laughter while DH had fifty fits!

Mouseface · 07/03/2011 20:37

Ma Grin

I have a pair of black leather fuck me boots. DH loves them Wink

No worries re Nemo, he's off down pit first thing Grin

Hey Indie. Just chillin here - DH on a sleepover, DD1 in her room, DD2 sleeping at Grandmas, and DS in bed. It is absolute feckin bliss! Wish it could always be like this!
Will either watch "mudmen" at 9.30 or go to bed and continue reading "The Help" which I'm really enjoying.
Got the bed to myself tonight - no snoring, farting, listening to Radio 5 live or demands for houghmagandy. Happy me!Grin

Mouseface · 07/03/2011 21:29

Grin Ma

I love the bed to myself. Well, with Nemo wriggling around. Melts my heart to snuggle with him. Smile

Off to bed now Babes.

Hope all those MIA are well and just busy with RL.

Night all xxxxxxx

dementedma · 07/03/2011 21:38

oh mouse wait till he grows up. I used to snuggle with DD1 in her pink Babygro. Last year on holiday she shared a twin room with her boyfriend - cue us lying rigid with embarassment at sounds of two single beds being shoved together for snuggling purposes! Blush
Enjoy it while it lasts.....
Anyway, how the heck is that boy going to manage a shift down t'pit or oop chimney if you are going to mollycoddle him like that?

Grin @Isindie. No, that's a Hootananny - a completely differnt thing! Houghmagandy is a fabulous Scots word for rumpy pumpy!

venusandmars · 07/03/2011 21:49

ma I have a new tactic for getting the bed to myself - I snore so loudly that HE has to move Grin Grin

Nice to hear lots of people in high spirits on here tonight, and for anyone lurking who is not feeling so cheerful, it's still always OK if you post. If you're around banfana let us know how you're doing.

I was out on a work visit tonight and on my way home I found the thought of a nice sit down with a glass of wine, running around my head. First thing I did was come on here. Now kettle is on, I've laughed at my pc (always makes dp worried) and the thought is no longer appealing to me. Thanks Babes - you're brilliant.

Is redrum still around? I hope we haven't frightened you off with our questioning and our banter?

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 07/03/2011 21:49

OOOF Miflaw, very cutting, I'll shut up.

Aah, Mouse I have the Dc's first shoes in their boxes, with names on Blush. Big boy's shoes don't have quite the same attraction!

JWN sorry to be serious, but if some of your ladies are really worried, there are FAS (foetal alchohol syndrome) websites, which give indications, there are many physical ones, and then they really need to talk to the health service. If they can get help for the children early enough, it can make all the difference, it's part of my job. I didn't drink at all until the DC's were about 5, what happened?
Zany Envy in the extreme, oh to be there again!

Isindie I think Brighton is worse off without you! I love the fact that there are so many different realtionships on show there. I have always taken my Dc's from when they were young, and they think nothing of same sex hand in hand,or cross dressers, etc (as they've got older not so accepting, sadly). But then my 2 neices are black, with white parents, and so they think that's normal as well. To be honest that's what I worry about, that they haven't been exposed to quite what the world holds....... Oh, dear, gone off on one here Smile...
