Laying AnyFucker to rest....

Please forgive this self-indulgent thread, it is only my second in several years, so I am owed one I think Smile

A thread I was on last night made me finally realise that the ridiculously-ballsy caricature of a reputation that goes before
this name was devaluing the message I was trying to convey. It was the gaslighting one, FWIW, but this isn't really about that.

I am not going anywhere, I love MN too much but AF has to go Smile

Just wanted to get it off my chest, and hopefully stop the "where is AF" speculation that sometimes can go along with a prolific poster suddenly stopping posting.

See yas around Smile

I suppose that in my case because it seemed pointless, gratuitous and was very, very wrong - as things turned out - it has rather stuck in my caw.

Although I'm well up to a heated deabate and a very strong person I've always kept away from posting on any AF threads since then in case I got another dose of it.

ledkr · 17/02/2011 08:23

be fair ladies,if you do get a flaming when you first post its hard to take esp when you already feel shit. I got burned by another popular poster first time and untill recently my lip curled Elvis style when i saw her but she was recently very kind to me on a thread so all is forgiven haha.
Higgle from what i know of af,she is very kind and well meaning and gives good advice. She does tell it as it is tho and that can be hard to hear,fe read your thread,i bet there was some truth in what she said.Btw-netmums can be bad for your health and mental wellbeing Grin

thumbwitch · 17/02/2011 08:54

Higgle - AF doesn't pull her punches, tis true, but she does have generally good instincts and will go into bat for you, even if it's saying the hard stuff. Perhaps she did get it wrong in your case - but don't write her off.

Mind you, like ledkr, I have "crossed swords" with other well-known posters on here before and lived to regret it (and also tend to avoid them now) so I know how you feel.

NM is bad for your eyes, never mind anything else!Grin

ledkr · 17/02/2011 12:07

yeah and also if you ask her she will probably give you her reasons for flaming.Thats if you can find her, she's a mysterious girl Grin

hobbgoblin · 17/02/2011 22:11

higgle you are pretty much a lonbe voice I fear

amimagic · 17/02/2011 22:32

I have to come out of general lurkdom to say RIP AnyFucker!

I've learnt so much from reading her responses to threads (and those of others too) and it's no exaggeration to say that my life has changed for the better as a result.

I also "agree with AnyFucker"....

ps, I've definitely spotted the mysterious girl though Grin

TDada · 17/02/2011 23:24

where is AF?

AgeingGrace · 17/02/2011 23:45

She's topping up her tan while listening to the Insight To Westminster CD vol IX Wink

LittleMissHissyFit · 18/02/2011 19:37

I think you'll find the tan she is currently 'sporting' is never likely to be natural...

thumbwitch · 19/02/2011 08:23

Yup, a delicate shade of antique mahogany, only achieved by several layers time and effort. Grin

TDada · 19/02/2011 16:28
Smile

I have been planning my Facebook disappearance....can't wait but I doubt that it will be as unpopular as the AF's disappearance.
