Laying AnyFucker to rest....

Please forgive this self-indulgent thread, it is only my second in several years, so I am owed one I think Smile

A thread I was on last night made me finally realise that the ridiculously-ballsy caricature of a reputation that goes before
this name was devaluing the message I was trying to convey. It was the gaslighting one, FWIW, but this isn't really about that.

I am not going anywhere, I love MN too much but AF has to go Smile

Just wanted to get it off my chest, and hopefully stop the "where is AF" speculation that sometimes can go along with a prolific poster suddenly stopping posting.

See yas around Smile

If there is ever an argument that only 2 people are interested in, private messaging is a more appropriate way of carrying it on. Unless you want an audience to put up their deckchairs and watch.

ledkr · 16/02/2011 08:49

see what you started now af?
I switched off early last night cos it was boring i needed to sleep and look what i missed. Not sure what the arguement was about tho.
af have you gone now?She will be on here with her new name later thats if she can tear herself away from the knitting and de cluttering ones first Grin

Aitch · 16/02/2011 08:49

oh god... i don't like ANY of those names and i don't understand why ANY of them are allowed to stand, but it is up to MNHQ to deal with them, just as they dealt with you. if you think it is unfair (and i do, btw) take it up with them.

and there's no way i'm making this a private conversation, tiggy, because cain is talking a load of weird bollocks tbh, and i have no desire to discuss it with her. i have no case to answer, i had NO IDEA about any of this until last night. she has developed some sort of persecution complex regarding me, that i have done nothing to encourage other than query her name with HQ (a gazillion months ago) and debate the merit of swearie names (hers and others, as anyfucker can confirm) on a number of threads.

Aitch · 16/02/2011 08:52

oh and the point of those other posters is that they came after you did, btw, cain. i do think you should query their names being allowed, however, because it is not fair. there should be one rule for all.

TiggyD · 16/02/2011 08:54

If you think rude names are bad why did you tell Pan "you read like a silly girl trying to lick arse. Do fuck off will you."? Isn't swearing at people worse than a rude spoonerism?

ledkr · 16/02/2011 09:02

tiggy dont you start as well {grin}
The flippin baby woke up so much last night i feel half dead so i may join in soon and get out of my deck chair.

TiggyD · 16/02/2011 09:04

Never before have I heard such shining wit! Grin

Hullygully · 16/02/2011 09:08

I am confused. Why do people object to CUNT, a good strong, female word, and not other "swear" words?

Aitch · 16/02/2011 09:15

is that to me, tiggy? it was cain who swore at pan, not me. (although actually since you ask i don't find swearing in a thread, when one is angry and so it is relevant to the point, at all a problem.)

what i have always felt is that the pointlessly swearie name, which comes up every time you are on MN regardless of the subject at hand, sounds overly-aggressive, is a bit puerile and detracts from what is actually being said. on that last point at least, i see anyfucker now agrees with me.

plus, at the time it really wasn't just me who thought the name was gross. cain is just dismissing all those other people's opinions because it suits her persecution complex to do so.

PLUS, and i really cannot state this with enough conviction, MNHQ are not in the habit of doing anything because ONE member queries it. there were other complaints, or at least that is what AF and Cain were told at the time, because they spoke about it on here.

the debate was played out on the boards, everyone had their say, and they asked cain to change her name. that's it.

i really should get some work done now, i was up until near enough three am last night, had just popped on to mn to check threads i'm on before going to sleep... Grin

Aitch · 16/02/2011 09:21

hully, just to clarify, i like the word cunt. just not for no reason. plus, paininthecunt... a bit violent imo. so while i think MNHQ should take a line on the swearie names and stick to it, paininthecunt (or spoonerism thereof) is considerably more aggressive than cuntingandbupcakes.

i will never understand, though, why people who choose to use names that they know some people will find beyond the pale are so outraged when those same people speak up.

Hullygully · 16/02/2011 09:23

I might change my name to Huntycunty

Aitch · 16/02/2011 09:25

why?

Hullygully · 16/02/2011 09:33

It has a certain cachet

findingthepath · 16/02/2011 09:34

Arguing like that in the open just makes both of you look bad IMO. Aitch Cain said 5 times that she did not want to discuss it you sound as if you were trying to upset her.

Grow up the both of you

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 16/02/2011 09:38

I like huntycunty, like a female humptydumpty....

FuckityFucker · 16/02/2011 09:39
Grin

Come on, this isn't what AF would want to see on a thread she started to say bye to everyone as her current self is it?

Take it elsewhere.........

AF - I can't believe I missed you Sad

I shall wear my name with pride today and of course black.

Goodbye AnyFucker, R.I.P xx

Aitch · 16/02/2011 09:40

hmmmm,i don't feel like i am not being a grown-up, tbh. i saw someone slagging me off on here, with their facts quite wrong, and i responded. that's fair enough, i think, these are public boards.
i am, tbh, nervous of taking this off-board with cain because she is labouring under such a wild misapprehension that a. i doubt i can convince her otherwise and b. i don't really see why i should have to, given that she is just plain wrong in the first place.

LittleMissHissyFit · 16/02/2011 09:41

Hey there are a few good names that are no longer being used..

Perhaps MNHQ can release them... Grin

Re-use, re-cycle and all that...

DaftPunk - for when you feel like starting a ruck
TDWP - for when you need to add some drama to life.
WashWithCare - for all the other weird shit

Wink
Aitch · 16/02/2011 09:42

lol littlemiss, and lol at fuckityfucker. Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2011 09:43

My god, what a great way to ruin anyfuckers thread, you should be ashamed, does it flippin well matter what a screen name is, if you dont like it, just dont pay attention

It is but words on a screen

So why have hang ups about what others call themselves, or if they wanna swear, we are all adults

Grow up

findingthepath · 16/02/2011 09:44

Thats the point you dont have too.

Now your just attention seeking.

Give it up your just making yourself look bad, fgs.

Aitch · 16/02/2011 09:47

me, attention-seeking? christ. okay, with that am off. i think i've explained my position re the names endlessly, i am distinctly PRO-swearing at the end of the day.

i just think that to a fresh set of eyes, swearie names make us all look like what the media would like to portray us as, a bunch of thick, aggressive women. when we are so much more than that on here.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 16/02/2011 09:49

Tbh, I'm more astounded by the fact that Pan was ironing at 2am. Now that is worthy of discussion, I feel.

Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2011 09:50

Aitch, we can be fun, daft and serious on here

And sod the media, mumsnet is not for them, so who cares what they think

Aitch · 16/02/2011 09:54

Justine and Carrie care, very much, because it is their BUSINESS. that's the whole point, this isn't a public service, it's a living to the people who own it and work for it. so if a customer is behaving in a manner that they perceive to damage their brand, they are quite at liberty to ask them either to change or leave.
