Well, this is our tenth thread so we are throwing a little party!

Everyone is invited! No booze of course, soft drinks and mocktails only!

I'm Mouse, hello. Smile

There are all kinds of drinkers on board the bus. Come and join the journey, whatever stage you are at, drinking, cutting down, wanting to stop or sober already.

Everyone is welcome to post here. Come say hi.

The journey so far is below.

Morning all.

Just to wish you all a lovely 2 days and hope that the Brave Babes stay brave.

Back tomorrow evening xxx

Dipso · 16/10/2010 11:07

Good morning everyone. Have a lovely day Zombie, as a fellow deep-thinker (!)I do love your posts...

I'm trying not to dwell on the number of bottles I've had this week but rather on this lovely bright day and going with DD to stay with some dear friends. If I can feel this good sober, why, when the craving comes, do I let the booze monster win? I know I can't drink normally, as wine tumbles out of the bottle into my glass, I'm actually looking at the amount of wine that's going to be left in the bottle!

But yay, I am not alone, far from it and it helps to stop me feeling too ashamed.

lucilastic · 16/10/2010 11:39

Morning babes. Not doing so well right now. Bottle of red last night but nothing else. Still pretty shit but could be shitter.
Feeling a bit flat and down. Worried about DD2's lack of speech (she's 27 months and isn't saying anything) so I obviously thought losing my worries in a drink would be a good idea. Old habits die hard.
So yet again today is another day and I'll not be drinking.
Off to read the last few pages.
Hi to oldies and newies.

TheAntiChristi · 16/10/2010 11:53

Hey luci sorry you've been worried. Have you seen someone about DD2's speech? I remember hearing Einstein didn't talk till he was 4 - does anyone know if that's true?

We know drinking won't help the worry and depression. Have a good day try not to drink.

was get well soon. Look after yourself.

mouse and jwn have a lovely time

to dipso and all the others

diabolik I am just like you - from one extreme to the other. Although, I guess if we were to remove the drinking then there would just be 'normality' with a few highs from running etc... Not swinging back and forth between manic drinking and whatever else. Good luck with the run!

TheAntiChristi · 16/10/2010 11:53

missp your post was lovely and inspiring

lucilastic · 16/10/2010 12:10

She's got a hearing test in a couple of weeks and has been referred to speech therapy but that could take up to 3 weeks to come through.
Of course drinking isn't helping the situation. Sad

LittleRedPumpkin · 16/10/2010 12:32

Morning everyone!

Morticia, Zombie, thanks for both your posts, they were lovely and a really good reminder that life without booze really is better and happier.

luci - Hope she's ok. Poor love. I dunno about Einstein but lots of babies don't talk until late. My mum didn't say a word until she was 2.2, and she's a literate woman now. Hope the hearing test will give you more info, too. Best of luck.

Bumblelion - lovely name! Welcome, nice to see you. I'm new here too but the bus is very cosy and I'm enjoying the view from day 10. Smile

witchetychicky · 16/10/2010 13:41

Hi luci it's always wise to check things out with the GP if you have concerns, but my DS was still only saying the occasional single word at 2. At 4 he was referred for speech therapy (I attended against my better judgement as I thought he was getting there - just slowly)

By the time he left primary school he got the English prize for reading, writing and speech. He is in the top stream for English now and is one of the most articulate 14 year olds I have ever met - well when he's not grunting at me!

Try to stay calm about it (easier said than done) and just take it one step at a time. Hearing test first.

Hello Babes

I am fine MissP, very sweet of you to ask Smile just in more of a lurking mode.

All the new faces are both fantastic and confusing, hi to you all. And to you old babes - you know who you are! Also a big hello to Red - good to know you are safe Smile.

I have had 3 nights of drinking in the last 3 weeks, last night being one of them. It was a planned and deliberate choice for our anniversary. I have not got smashed and have not suffered a hangover. I was not sure about posting because I am not sure if it is helpful to anyone struggling. I am very aware of the slippery slope and I must admit it has started occupying my mind a bit more. Very tentative about what I am doing.

Stay strong and take care all of you and a hug to you algee (you sounded a little wobbly)x

dementedma · 16/10/2010 17:11

wine o' clock bell is beginning to sound. plug your ears and fasten your seatbelts

Whitenapteen · 16/10/2010 17:38

Dementedma Seatbelt fastened, fingers in ears 'lalalala'. Projecting forward, but just to the lovely breakfast I'm going to enjoy in the morning - boiled eggs and soldiers, tea and the paper. Elderflower and soda here.

Have a safe evening everyone.

Diabolik how was the run?

diabolik · 16/10/2010 17:45

run is tomorrow :) WNP

LittleRedPumpkin · 16/10/2010 20:28

Anyone around?

I really want a drink and am trying to distract myself. I've just had a phonecall from my parents and would love to dull the pain by getting steaming drunk. DH is playing computer games again. Grrr.

zombieinhighheelswhatnext · 16/10/2010 20:41

hello pumpkin!, im here for a few minutes, dh wants the computer in a mo (i bet he is bidding on more bloody old junk!, i once sat down to use the thing and found 3 de-commisioned hand grenades he had bought! Grin), anyway, did you watch strictly?

diabolik · 16/10/2010 20:42

hi lrp hang in there - have a read - www.orange-papers.org/orange-addmonst.html -

Whitenapteen · 16/10/2010 20:46

Evening pumpkin - what about a bath and good book?

LittleRedPumpkin · 16/10/2010 20:49

Hi Zombie - wow, your DH sounds ... interesting ... Grin

Not a strictly watcher here - is it even available online?

Thanks diabolik, will have a look in a mo.

White - wish we had a bath! I love a good hot bath with a glass of wine. Shower not quite the same!

Sorry, I am just being a fidgety I think.

Fortheverylasttime · 16/10/2010 20:50

Hi Little! I'm here. I just cooked an Indian meal and it took 2 and a half hours to cook. And about a million ingredients. And I have a brand new puppy on my lap. You are doing absolutely brilliantly Little. Don't put yourself under pressure. Is there anything on TV? Chat?

LittleRedPumpkin · 16/10/2010 20:56

Awww, puppy! What kind?

I'm impressed with your dedication spending that long cooking (I love cooking, but still ...).

We don't have TV, annoyingly.

Sorry, I sort of know why I'm upset and probably ought to just keep marking time until 11pm.

Whitenapteen · 16/10/2010 21:00

Pumpkin - make a cup of tea/coffee/hot chocolate?

LittleRedPumpkin · 16/10/2010 21:01

DH has just made me some hot milk. Smile

Thanks.

Fortheverylasttime · 16/10/2010 21:02

I don't think the dedication will stretch to 2 and a half hours again. Never cooked Indian before. New Madhur Jeffrey book. Norfolk Terrier.

LittleRedPumpkin · 16/10/2010 21:05

Well, you jumped in at the deep end then Forthe!

Thanks for chatting to me, I feel a bit better now. Smile

Give the puppy a stroke for me.

Whitenapteen · 16/10/2010 21:07

Forthe How did it taste? Delicious I hope.

dementedma · 16/10/2010 21:07

hey redpumpkin - my DH spends endless hours playing sodding computer games too!
I'm doing well tonight after a slip last night. Just had a hot chocolate and NO BOOZE. Going to try and do better this week.
