Well, this is our tenth thread so we are throwing a little party!

Everyone is invited! No booze of course, soft drinks and mocktails only!

I'm Mouse, hello. Smile

There are all kinds of drinkers on board the bus. Come and join the journey, whatever stage you are at, drinking, cutting down, wanting to stop or sober already.

Everyone is welcome to post here. Come say hi.

The journey so far is below.

Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't post quickly because I was trying to think what to say. I'm trying not to come over all know-all because I am only on day 8 and terrified of the big dip people have told me is coming up. But it does sound as if you got to the toughest part.

IloveBafanaBafana · 14/10/2010 22:57

in bed, large glass of water.
typing is slow
i feel shit
why did i did i do this

LittleRedPumpkin · 14/10/2010 22:57

Bafana, please come back and talk to us. Sad

LittleRedPumpkin · 14/10/2010 22:58

Oh, glad you're still here. Good job with the water.

Do you know at all what started it? Were you hoping you could stop at one or was it more of an impulsive return to old habits?

IloveBafanaBafana · 14/10/2010 23:03

in bed with huuuuge glass of water.
feel awful, have let me down
have let the babes down.
12 days
12 fucking days
why could I have not turned that into 13!
what the fuck is wring with me!

RedDevilMoomin · 14/10/2010 23:08

ILBB - I am not sure that I know you, I don't think so. I am a poster of old who disappeared on a bender. Don't worry about what has happened.
You haven't let anyone on here down.
Be proud that you have gone to bed now.
Do NOT use this as an excuse to carry on tomorrow.
Big hugs to you x

RedDevilMoomin · 14/10/2010 23:09

mouse - thank you for keeping watch over me. I am just curling up again on the back seat. I feel safe knowing that the Babes are all around me x

LittleRedPumpkin · 14/10/2010 23:10

Look, it's not good, and you know it's not good. But you've stopped drinking now, and tomorrow's another day. You can start again and when day 12 comes round, we'll all be here helping you get past it and out the other side sober. Ok?

Don't let me stop you posting, but maybe you should get some sleep if you can, and start fresh tomorrow morning?

It's a stumble; it's not the end of the race. Remember: you've given your liver 12 days off, and that is still a big thing, even though it's gutting that you drank tonight.

IloveBafanaBafana · 14/10/2010 23:13

ok, ok, ok,

right try again, but try better

thnaks all

RedDevilMoomin · 14/10/2010 23:13

Hello LRP (not sure of shortened forms at the moment!) Nice to meet you - did I know you before?

RedDevilMoomin · 14/10/2010 23:15

ILBB - as long as you keep trying you will get there.(I may not be a good advert for this at the moment but I know plenty of people both on here and at AA that are.)

Try to sleep well x

LittleRedPumpkin · 14/10/2010 23:16

I slipped into lecturing there didn't I! Blush

Hope you sleep well Bafana, see you in the morning!

Red - No, I only know of you through lurking! Nice to 'meet' you. Smile

I've been trying to stop for a (long) while on my own and finally persuaded myself to come on this thread - it's my 8th day sober today (and tomorrow is my birthday so I had darn well better not wreck it drinking!).

I'm usually LRD (dragon), btw.

RedDevilMoomin · 14/10/2010 23:19

Well done on 8 days - fantastic!

You will have a much better birthday if you stay sober... During my long period of sobriety I had a birthday and it was great! Had a lovely meal and didn't miss the booze. Or the hangover!

LittleRedPumpkin · 14/10/2010 23:24

Thanks! Smile

I like the sound of a long period of sobriety ... to my shame, I don't think I've been sober for long than a couple of weeks since before I was 18. Time to stop, eh?!

RedDevilMoomin · 14/10/2010 23:28

I managed 11 months but the last 6 months have been stop-start-stop-start to the extreme and in that time my marriage has ended (other issues too but mainly booze), my parents are on the verge of washing their hands of me, I am hanging onto my job and how I have any friends left is beyond me.

Bring on sobriety Smile !!

RedDevilMoomin · 14/10/2010 23:29

Right LRP it has been lovely to 'meet' you but I am off to sleep now (mouse will shout at me if I keep getting off the back seat!) Night night - hope to see you tomorrow for birthday wishes x

LittleRedPumpkin · 14/10/2010 23:31

Gosh. I'm both sad for you and incredibly impressed you managed 11 months in with all of that.

However, as you say it is time for bed! See you on the threads again.

Night night to anyone else who's still up!

notevenamousie · 15/10/2010 07:00

Happy Birthday to LRP!
Red we haven't met before but I too am amazed how well you've done, I hope you won't be beating yourself up today.
bafana I hope you don't feel too bad today and can turn the regret into something positive.
So, I had 2 glasses and poured the rest of the bottle away. Not great, because I want to be stopping. But, could have been worse, and I am awake with no hangover (which would trigger me to drink this morning) and renewed determination. I am not going to drink today...
Hope everyone has a good day, thank goodness it's Friday!

witchetychicky · 15/10/2010 07:16

Morning little red - Happy Birthday!! To celebrate -
I will not be drinking today.
I'll try to be quiet so as not to wake Red up.
x

Silver66 · 15/10/2010 07:45

Red thankgod you are back we were all so worried - I've been in France for a week so need to catch up with old and new later on - back to work today tho - yuk.

Have a lovely day everyone and ILBB you still have 12 days under your belt and you have proved to yourself that you can do it. Forget last night - it was a blip - today is a new day

xxxx Grin

MorticiaPerrier · 15/10/2010 07:48

Good Morning Babes Smile
Happy Birthday Little Red.
Hurry up Redmoomin it's so good to have you back.
PAV Hope you are doing ok? My DH is away this weekend so I'm home alone with my Man/boys, which I fear means Mum's Cabs, Mum's Diner, Mum's Pizza delivery service, Mum's drop in centre for teenagers!!!Hmm

MorticiaPerrier · 15/10/2010 07:50

Mums not drinking today though!! Grin

diabolik · 15/10/2010 08:05

Morning - day 9 -

  • these last d9 days went remarkably quick and dont feel I missed out on anything -

This week-end there is nothing that I see could upset the apple cart ... But week-end after there is a big party I am invited to ... really reconsidering going and have told GF so ..

MP - how old are the Man boys -- if in the 14 - 17 bracket I feel for you :) ..

alltho me and GF were lucky when step son went through that period .. He was sulky and stuff and slept a lot but with me and GF having rebelled the way we did when young he realised there was no point doing the same things we did and went completely the other way ( well behaved etc etc ).. He even helped in the house without asking .. As he liked things tidy .. :) yep ladies it is possible a teen age boy that washes up does his own ironing and hoovers

MsGeepers · 15/10/2010 08:13

Morning babes,

ILBB, hope you are doing ok today. 12 days is a great acheivement, so focus on that and don't beat yourself up. New day, new start.

Happy Birthday LittleRed

Morning Morticia hope you have a good weekend with the Man/boys - and that you get some you time in between all those mum jobs!

Silver, welcome back, hope you had a good break

Mouse - morning lovely, hope you got some sleep last night.

Hello to everyone else and sorry for those I have missed off.

All ok in the Gee household, although two nights of working late are taking their toll, I feel so tired and worn out. We have toddler dance class this morning (i.e me dancing with heavy toddler clinging to my neck), then washer being fixed, then I somehow have to work, tidy house and make up spare room for guests (removing boxes, furniture and ten tons of crap), start packing and entertain a two year old. Oh and do 3 days washing when the washer is fixed.

But I will be doing it all sober. And when my friends arrive, NO FRINKING.

Pledge to my lovely babes.

MsGeepers · 15/10/2010 08:15

diabolik sorry x post.

day 9 - well done, that is fantastic.

do not worry about the weekend after next just now. focus on today!
