Dh has a consultation coming up soon, at first he was really happy going throught with it but somehow I feel he is getting cold feet. I dont want him to feel bullied into having it done so that is why I'm asking you to tell us about your experience !

DH didn't exactly enjoy it and had to wear two pairs of shorts-style undies for a couple of weeks but was back to normal very quickly.

MoralDefective · 27/09/2010 21:17

'A horses head!'Grin....my DP had it done 15 years ago not long after 3rd DC who was unplannedWink...best days work of his life....no more pill,no more condoms(i always hated them).....brilliant added extra was that the nurse who took the stitches out left one in and a few days later DP had to ask me to have a look cos it felt odd...i discovered the stitch and removed it with tweezers!!!it felt like payback time though he said it didn't hurt!!!!

ThatVikRinA22 · 27/09/2010 21:20

marking spot - dh has a date for his soon!

Malificence · 27/09/2010 21:22

At least we waited to have sex until DH had his stitches out on day 6!
DH was a bit weird about it beforehand, he didn't want to talk about it and he certainly didn't want to know the details, he wouldn't even have sex the night before his op, he said that it would feel like he was expecting sex to be different afterwards.Confused
I tried very hard to be sensitive towards him but I felt like serving him spaghetti the night before Wink He'd watched me get stitched up after giving birth so he knew I wasn't going to be that sympathetic.

Sidge · 27/09/2010 21:24

Oops typo meant made his bollocks look like aubergines, not make.

They don't still look like aubergines now. That would Not Be Erotic.

AnyFucker · 27/09/2010 21:29

my DH's bollock no longer looks like a horse's head, either

it took a while though...

about 6 months I think

he had to wheel it around in a barrow for quite some time

ReneRusso · 27/09/2010 21:35

Would quite like my DH to do it. Wish there were no posts about aubergines and horses heads, then I could get him to read the thread.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 27/09/2010 21:43

You could have cut it off and left it in your enemy's bed Grin

MeelooMouloo · 27/09/2010 21:50

Trying persuade DH to have it done at the moment but he's very reluctant. God knows why?

Have mentioned the good bits from this thread (not the aubergines or horse's head) but he's still only raising a quzzical eye brow.

Annoyingly he can't even give me good reason why not.........told him it's either that or I go back on the pill......which turns me into Jekyll & Hyde.......only with eyeliner Grin

DC3 not due till Dec so time yet for him to decide.

AnyFucker · 27/09/2010 21:52

I couldn't take the Pill

and frankly, I didn't see why I should, after 20 years of taking responsibility for contraception and child bearing, it was his turn

MoralDefective · 27/09/2010 21:55

Very good Maisiethemorn(too long)....Grin

Faaamily · 27/09/2010 21:56

I keep mentioning the V word to DH. So sick of faffing with condoms, I can't take hormone contraception and I am NOT getting the bloody coil after two c-sections and a whole raft of grim gynae problems over the years.

He says he will consider it, but looks squeamish and goes a bit pale every time I mention it (hence referring to it as 'the V word' like some sort of saddo).

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 27/09/2010 22:01

Thank you Grin

Only one thing worse than finding a horse's head in your bed, and that's finding a horse's head that, on closer inspection, turns out to be a bollock with a haematoma resembling a horse's head

CommanderCool · 27/09/2010 22:01

As soon as DC3 arrives, he'll scuttle off to that clinic believe 'me.

I have 3 DCs and DD3's colic and reflux pushed him over the edge and into the clinic. And it's been great - although he jizzed up blood a couple of days after (don't tell your husband.)

papaelsie · 28/09/2010 00:24

Just had mine a few days ago! Youch!

I would suggest: a week off booze and fags before since both these can lead to excessive bleeding

a week off booze and fags after, same reason.

Loads of (proper) cranberry juice for the few days before and after - this will help keep infection at bay (some will say rhubarb and nonsense: ignore them)

A few jockstraps (eeeew, i know). NOT the same as tight pants - tight pants squash your cock and balls together; jocks create a kind of snug hammock - v. different. Should be changed every day.

A good supply of co codamol. (was my best friend all weekend). NOT ibuprofen or aspirin: both of which may cause bleeding.

At least 3 days in bed with a pile of DVD's: loads of rest basically. In these first days is when complications can occur - infection, excessive swelling etc; and there's a fair bit of stretching of tubes going on. The whole area from belly button down to and including your nuts may feel tender and needs time to settle down.

A cushion to stick between your knees when he's sleeping / resting to stop your thighs from squishing the obvious.

Don't shower or wash area for 48hrs (eeew again) so as to avoid getting stitches wet. Then - take it very easy and DRY DRY DRY like you've never dried 'em before (gently - obviously).

Oh, and tell him not to be tempted to knock a cheeky one out - we don't want to burst those stitches open now, do we?! Yeoooow.

TMI?

Good luck

p.s: No pressure to go back to work too soon if poss!

youarebustedmydear · 28/09/2010 07:22

papaelsie, thanks for that !!!
