Why, all of a sudden are the children getting to say stuff? Very worrying development.

Why all this Carry on Camping stuff with Usha and Alan - very undignified.

And what the hell is this with making Oliver look like a blithering idiot?

Definitely Ian to be the dad.

Incidentally, isn't Ian the most un-Gay name you have ever heard?

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 05/04/2010 08:45

presumably Ian's parents didn't know he was going to be gay

seeker · 05/04/2010 09:30

Some people have no foresight!

Your predictions please - is Vikki/Vicki(she is not going to spell her name conventionally and she is going to do little hearts over the Is) going to become the UK's most successful veal producer? And is Emmer going to fall in love with Harry the new dairy man and that will break her and Tom up? And then he will get back together with Kirsty?

Ponders · 05/04/2010 12:22

hmmm...I thought Harry was intended for Helen, not Brenda - interesting idea though, LadyB...

carocaro · 05/04/2010 13:11

I think Jazzer and Fallon with form a successful fok group and tour the world together and eventually fall in love.

Tom stop banging on about getting married and tying poor Brenda down to a sausage meat life of hell, breastfeeding out the back of the sasuage van, covered in grease and turning into the new Susan.

Pips boyfriend sounds a bit 'Tim Nice But Dim' and what will they get up too in the cottage? That's if Deeevid and Ruth let them go, maybe she will get pregnant and give the baby to Helen?

Vikki will never let any of the claves go for veal slaughter, as she's named them all alphabetically and given them each a teddy named Mr Bubbles and will end up with hundreds of them who will stampede throught the village mowing Joe Grundy to his death.

carocaro · 05/04/2010 13:15

This is a great thread. I just know I was not the only Archers fanantic on here. So pleased.

PrincessFiorimonde · 05/04/2010 19:19

Pip. Shoot her now. Please.

Ponders · 05/04/2010 20:20

Presumably the Alice&Christopherinbedwithnotopson scene was a typically "subtle" Archers counterpoint to the Pip&Jude thing (plus ramming home the Carter/Aldridge class thing for good measure )

But yes, PF - anyone got a gun?

PrincessFiorimonde · 05/04/2010 23:26

We have all been stroppy teenagers in our time...
BUT this one takes the ...

SerenaSays · 06/04/2010 14:54

Have just been listening to the repeat and am to say that my rage with the appalling Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeep knows no bounds (reminds self that it's NOT REAL).

But seriously, AIBU to think there really is something very creepy indeed about a 29 (almost 30) yo 'going out' with an extremely immature 17 yo (who talks as though she's about 10)? And apparently they are not yet indulging in, erm, bedroom activities, if the veiled hints in the script are anything to go by - everyone keeps pointedly saying that Jude is 'immature'.

I don't get why a supposedly grown-up man with a successful career, plenty of money, etc etc, would want to be dating a stroppy teenager like Peeeep if they're not doing the deed. Is Jude, in fact, a few sandwiches short of a picnic, or what?

Ponders · 06/04/2010 15:13

"and I asked you really nicely" - yes, because we always get what we want as long as we ask really nicely, don't we?

I want to know what Brenda has up her sleeve about him - "he hasn't changed" spoke volumes

campion · 06/04/2010 16:41

Alicen'Chrissinbed was totally out of character for Susan. She gets morally uppity at the slightest thing so would hardly sanction such goings on under her own roof.
Except that Alice is upper class totty ( to Susan) so, perhaps it's an honour.

( Notwithstanding that Susan was up the duff with Emma before she barely knew Neil - except in the biblical sense)

seeker · 07/04/2010 01:15

Have David and Ruth got anything against Jude apart from his age?

And Oh please no more talking children!!!!

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 07/04/2010 07:24

I think David would just have something against anyone precious Pip brought home.

seeker · 07/04/2010 08:26

Unless he was a Young Farmer! Which always makes me laugh, having had quite a lot to do with Young Farmers in my dim and distant youth!

We need an AMbridge chainsaw massacre. It's overdue. It could have happened at the talent show: an opportunity was missed.

R4 · 07/04/2010 08:59

To be fair to Daveed, he didn't mind that nice Johnathan YF.
The main charge against Jude is that he only started going out with Pip after she started dressing like a tart updated her image. I don't know where you get "successful career" from, Serena: he's an eternal student who shys away from hard work and application. But I agree with you about wondering what's in this for him. Perhaps he's gay and can't tell his folks because they'll cut off his trust fund so Pip is his 'cover'.

I can believe Susan being cool (in an uptight way) about Chris and Alice. How long have they been going out? - it's at least a year.

seeker · 07/04/2010 10:16

Where's `herod when you need him?

OP posts:
SerenaSays · 07/04/2010 10:54

Maybe I misheard, R4 - which is highly likely, since I'm usually cooking and/or loudly shouting at one or other of the characters while listening! Jude clearly doesn't have to worry about money - BMW convertible, own flat, etc etc - so is he funded by Mummy and Daddy, then? Even more worrying in a man approaching 30.... Pip, be afraid - be very afraid

Actually I think last night's ep hinted that the scales might just start to fall from her eyes - Jude wasn't exactly heartbroken that she couldn't go surfing with him, was he?

R4 · 07/04/2010 11:06

ROFL @ seeker.

I'm not sure where Jude's money comes from, I don't think that it has really been explained. I don't think that he is a drug dealer but you never know!
Agree with serena about the holiday: I almost felt sorry for Pip.

abride · 07/04/2010 16:13

Well quite, Seeker.

Pancakeflipper · 07/04/2010 16:18

Has Ian yet volunteered to get Helen up the duff?

abride · 07/04/2010 16:20

I don't know if I can bear to think about the mechanics of how this might work. I hope it isn't on the radio when I'm cooking.

Tony will have a fit.

zisforzebra · 07/04/2010 22:21

Ian will be using the old stand-by the turkey baster won't he!?
