Why, all of a sudden are the children getting to say stuff? Very worrying development.

Why all this Carry on Camping stuff with Usha and Alan - very undignified.

And what the hell is this with making Oliver look like a blithering idiot?

OP posts:

Did anyone guffaw when they heard Helen bemoaning the tragedy fact that she had to wait 6 months for a sperm donor?
Helloooooo?? Did anyone else think "Only 6 months! It could easily take much longer than that with conventional ttc!" Is she into instant gratification or what?

Oh well, at least childcare is partially sorted if Ian is the daddy.
Maybe Ian and Adam could mix up their spunk and then no one would really know who was the daddy so they could both bask in the glory (tho' Adam is her 1st cousin).

ps: do you think mention of mixed up spunk will be good enough to get me in the DM?

squeaver · 24/03/2010 20:57

How on EARTH will they explain that one in appropriate-for-2pm language, CS??

And WHAT will Peggy think?

SugarTits · 24/03/2010 21:06

I just wanted to say that I agree with everything you've all said. Had the same thought about Emma, so I'm relieved to read that I haven't gone mad.

Does anyone remember why Ian didn't go through with fathering the baby before? not sure I can.

Also what's with Kate's attitude towards Ruiri?

boogeek · 24/03/2010 21:25

Didn't Adam talk him out of it? Though I can't remember any details either.
Haven't listened for a week - waiting for a quiet evening to catch up with the omnibus - but Kate just generally has Attitude. I can kind of see it though, if my mum had been lumbered, no matter how uncomplainingly, with my dad's child with his dead lover, I might be a bit narked on her behalf. Though if she is thinking of her mum (rather than the loss of inheritance or something; at least Adam is open about it) it will be the first time in her entire life.

R4 · 24/03/2010 23:26

"[Ian and Adam's] generally stable relationship was rocked in 2006 when Ian's old friend Madeleine (Madds) asked him to father a child with her. Adam took a lot of persuading before he could support Ian - and then the mercurial Madds announced that she had met a man who she thought could be part of a more conventional family unit."

Assuming that it happens, is this Helen/Ian storyline a happy accident or have the scriptwriters been plotting it since 2006!?

GrimmaTheNome · 24/03/2010 23:30

How on EARTH will they explain that one in appropriate-for-2pm language, CS??

There is no watershed on the radio so they can say what they like!

Ponders · 24/03/2010 23:35

Is it a new Emma? The website still has her as Felicity Jones

???

CantSupinate · 25/03/2010 10:24

I thought it was a new Emma too!

SerenaSays · 25/03/2010 15:41

I'm convinced it's a new Emma - either that, or Felicity Jones has been out of it for so long that she can't remember how to do her 'Borsetshire' accent. Am always v. amused by the way all these people born and bred within a welly-throw of Ambridge have about 10 different accents....from deepest Mummerset to the weird, whiney, wooden Peeeeeeeeeep (whom I would quite happily throttle at the moment, or indeed any time)

Greenshadow · 25/03/2010 16:36

It's definitly a new actress - if you read the bbc archers message boards (yes, I know very sad) then there was a discussion about it a few days ago.

boogeek · 25/03/2010 17:22

"Assuming that it happens, is this Helen/Ian storyline a happy accident or have the scriptwriters been plotting it since 2006!?" I believe the storylines are plotted even further ahead than this - years and years!

SerenaSays · 26/03/2010 08:30

So we can still hope that Helen will eventually find out about Annette's night of lurve with the repellent Aussie boyfriend????

SugarTits · 26/03/2010 12:57

Oh oh - how about this for a storyline - Aussie boyfriend bumps into Helen and offers to father her child. Annette finds out - all hell breaks loose?

SerenaSays · 26/03/2010 13:27

SugarTits, I LOVE it! Would you like a job as an Archers scriptwriter? I'd be riveted every night if you came up with plots like that!

SugarTits · 26/03/2010 13:36

A lifetime of soaps - tis my shameful secret.

CantSupinate · 26/03/2010 13:59

Who reckons that Helen will end up having twins, and then terrible PND. And then end up topping herself so that she can be with her precious Greg (pls. forgive me for trivialising suicide, but it's fiction so I am allowed to have evil thoughts about them all, right?)

And Pat and Tony will end up raising the sprogs... or maybe Hayley will adopt them seeing as she has had fertility problems and all.

(Note to self, must get a Life).

SugarTits · 26/03/2010 18:54

ooh you could be right CantSupinate - she's going to have pnd for sure.

GrimmaTheNome · 26/03/2010 19:21

Now what's with Brenda tonight 'I'm so tired I feel sick'

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Greenshadow · 26/03/2010 20:49

Haven't heard tonight's episode - but that would follow on nicely from last weeks moan about children and their impact on careers.
Maybe Brenda will get pregnant but Helen will fail to conceive....? I do feel that Helen is just assuming that one go at the clinic will automatically result in pregnancy.

campion · 28/03/2010 16:01

Brenda will have twins and give one to Helen. Problem solved!

zisforzebra · 29/03/2010 21:31

My prediction: Brenda already said she wouldn't want to be tied down with a baby because then she wouldn't be able to get a Birmingham or where ever. If she's pregnant she'll give the baby to Helen.

I also think that Lillian might start an affair with Matt's long lost brother.

I was shouting at the radio yesterday when David basically said that Josh's behaviour was boys being boys after how unbending he's been to Pip.

Ponders · 29/03/2010 22:22

shouting at the radio is what the archers was invented for

boogeek · 30/03/2010 17:03

I don't think Lillian will have an affair with the brother - she's too in lurve with tiger - but I do think he will make a move. Will be interesting.

GrimmaTheNome · 30/03/2010 17:13

I can't see Brenda giving the baby to Helen. I they might try H being a sort of nanny while B follows career, but that would rapidly descend into H going all control freaky and B reclaiming child.

What they really can't do is have B going for termination because its too soon since Annette, and the plot would be too similar to the Lizzie/Shula thing.

Perhaps premature speculation here, Brenda's not bluelined yet!

LadyBiscuit · 30/03/2010 17:14

Oh god no please don't let Helen be infertile or she is going to be too long-suffering for words. She's already the most pious person in Borsetshite, I couldn't bear it.

I wonder how old Vikki is? Do you reckon she could have an accidental pregnancy? Now that would be a cracking storyline
