Why, all of a sudden are the children getting to say stuff? Very worrying development.

Why all this Carry on Camping stuff with Usha and Alan - very undignified.

And what the hell is this with making Oliver look like a blithering idiot?

If Kate has left Lucas why has she only bought Sipho home with her? What about poor Nolly?

LillianGish · 22/03/2010 14:44

Abandoning daughters is par for the course with Kate!

squeaver · 22/03/2010 14:47

Oh I can SO see the Helen/Ian thing happening.

fishie · 22/03/2010 14:49

i detect the leaden-footed approach of a moral message in the helen pg story.

yes kate is staying in ambridge. nolly will have to lanquish in sa as there is no current vacancy for non-speaking child. sipho is required for diversity purposes.

GrimmaTheNome · 22/03/2010 14:52

No - as I think I've said before, Ian is one of the few truly sane people in Ambridge. If he wouldn't oblige for his nice friend, why would he for Helen?

GrimmaTheNome · 22/03/2010 14:54

Note to Archers script writers - we're with Hayley on this one. Having been good enough to send Annette away, please do likewise with Kate.

fishie · 22/03/2010 14:55

i thought ian was all set to do the deed with whatsername, but she wandered off?

squeaver · 22/03/2010 14:59

Lol at diversity purposes. I can remember years ago when she first brought Lucas to Ambridge and everyone was way too polite to make mention of the obvious.

campion · 22/03/2010 15:06

You're right, fishie. Ian was very up for it with Madds ( or whoever) but Adam deffo wasn't and talked him round. For a while Ian was as daft as Helen's being now.

That's why they're in cahoots.

Don't believe all that guff about them being best mates though.

assumetheposition · 22/03/2010 15:19

Can someone tell me what's happened to Emma? Is it a new actress? Or is there a new character called Emma that I don't know about

GrimmaTheNome · 22/03/2010 15:21

I didn't notice any particular difference in Emma when she was on recently TBH.

LillianGish · 22/03/2010 15:23

Have been predicting Helen and Ian scenario since she confided in him about Annette's being pregnant and he revisited the Madds scenarion. It was such a contrived scene you had to wonder what it was in there for! If she has the baby with him then she can share child care with Ian and Adam - problem solved (also Tony can get even more apoplectic about the baby's father being gay!)

Greenshadow · 22/03/2010 16:09

Yes, it is a new actress playing Emma.

EggyAllenPoe · 22/03/2010 16:19

ah...I though Kate piercing Pheobe's ears must get a mention on Mumsnet...!!!
and caling her 'mum'!!

I didn't realise she'd left more kids in SA though.

i think Helen having gay mans baby is perfect solution....Adam and Ian have always been so good with children. And it will enrage Tony. all the better.

I see the predicable denouement to the grapitti story coming, with a rather artless slip from young Josh..

jodevizes · 22/03/2010 17:58

Re Emma. Thank the lord, I was about to get my ears syringed when I heard her with Pip.

I am not sure re Ian/Helen, but she is family after all so Adam may like being a sort of uncle. Yes Eggy, that will really get up Tonys' nose. It would only take a lovely lesbian to arrive and seduce Helen for Tom to get the farm.

boogeek · 22/03/2010 18:52

Perhaps Kate has left Nolly as a consolation prize for Lucas? It's not like she's overly attached to her children, she'd probably think that was fair enough. All the wittering about being bored and dissatisfied though: does she think returning to Ambridge is going to solve that?

EggyAllenPoe · 22/03/2010 18:58

indeed, she was perpetually frustrated with Ambridge whilst she was there....

you know, when discussing the young of The Archers, i am often left wondering if there are any i wouldn't want to slap? (though probs Kate is 'older' than I now.)

OliviaMumsnet · 22/03/2010 18:58

There's also something fishy about pip's older man and the car insurance.
Am on catch up so have't heard yesterdays' omnibus, but the convo between Elizabeth and pip about how Nigel's an older man...
Don't you think?

boogeek · 22/03/2010 19:00

Well, only that he didn't want to let a learner, no matter how beloved, drive his precious and by all accounts very swish car! I think there is something fishy about him though. All will be revealed!

GrimmaTheNome · 22/03/2010 19:02

I was quite shocked when they were talking about Sids pregnant daughter Lucy being 'an older mum' - she's 38. Argh, I can remember when she was a kid!

EggyAllenPoe · 22/03/2010 19:18

oh yes, i can just see David throwing Jude out having discovered his Dark Secret and uttering the fateful words 'stay away from my daughter'....wih uth yammering 'Deevid!! Nawwwwww!; in the background...

Greenshadow · 22/03/2010 20:48

I just find it all so unlikely - Pip is hardly mature for her age and when you hear them together it just sounds so unnatural. To me it is impossible that a man of Jude's age could be interested in someone like Pip unless it's for sex.

fishie · 22/03/2010 21:42

oh all that crap about jude being 'immature' ie they aren't shagging.

who remembers the horror of lizzie and nigel, the crackling fire and 'careless whisper'...?

EggyAllenPoe · 22/03/2010 21:45

fishie i feel ill just reading that...

LillianGish · 24/03/2010 19:15

I knew it! No sperm donors - all roads lead to Ian. No doubt he's already been checked out for his unsuccessful try with Mads.
