Wormsmeat · 03/04/2009 11:33

lol at bank of granny. She is always there with her chequebook isn't she.

I don't know why the G20 didn't just ask her for a quick fiscal stimulas.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/04/2009 19:12

Do you think Chalky could mistake Will for Lillian and run him over, he is such a nasty vidictive and mean person.

MargaretMountford · 14/04/2009 21:52

!!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 15/04/2009 15:17

Shall we open a book as to when Brine makes his first advance onf Annabel?

OliviaMumsnet · 20/04/2009 20:59

Oh LOL @ wormsmeat and Peggy helping with the global credit crisis.

Please can someone explain this whole Annnette/Helen situation to me? Thanks.

OP posts:
mammya · 20/04/2009 21:13

Yes, someone please explain, I don't understand the whole Annette thing either, she's not on the Archers' who's who list.

CoffeeCrazedMama · 21/04/2009 09:29

Annette is the daughter of Helen's erstwhile partner (and Will's old boss) Greg, who shot himself when Annette's mother denied him access to her and her sister Sonia. Helen had walked out by the end because she was fed up with his depression (caused I think by the access issue). This lead to major guilt for Helen, which contributed to her eating disorder.

CoffeeCrazedMama · 21/04/2009 09:30

Incidentally, Greg's suicide is why Brian is always so anxious for Will's welfare - he (Brian) found Greg's body in the shepherd's hut, and doesn't want the same thing to happen with Will.

OliviaMumsnet · 21/04/2009 09:40

Thanks for that.
Is Brine worried because it's something about being a gamekeeper or because of Will's access to George?

Bluestocking · 21/04/2009 09:43

I loved Brine's Annabel-related "phwoar! there's a sight for sore eyes!" to ADAM, of all people.
And what on earth is going on with Helen and Annette? It reminds me of Heavenly Creatures - they're going to end up hacking Pat'n'Tony to bits in a frenzy, you mark my words.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 21/04/2009 10:45

Has Helen always had OCD tendencies?

mammya · 21/04/2009 13:30

Thanks CoffeCrazedMama, that makes it all clearer!

CoffeeCrazedMama · 21/04/2009 20:09

Olivia - the terrible combination of the two. Both times Will has gone to ground (when Emma left and when he'd thrashed Ed)Brine has been anxious. Hence his relief that Nic is back on the scene.

Oh dear, I have a bit of a nerdish ability to retain all manner of detail about The Archers. No wonder dh keeps saying to me, with a sorrowful head shake, 'They're not real...'

MargaretMountford · 21/04/2009 21:11

Helen is on the verge of something bad

OliviaMumsnet · 22/04/2009 09:31

Doesn't the OCD thing link to the eating obsessions? (Wasn't she anorexic once?)

OP posts:
zanz1bar · 24/04/2009 19:17

nooooooo, please don't break up tiger and pussycat.
I love the way adam calls lillian Aunty lil, wish i had a fag ash aunty lil, with a gin in one hand, fag in the other.
Love love love lil

MamaHobgoblin · 26/04/2009 13:39

It's driving me mad the way Brine and Jennifer are absurdly over-protective of Helen. I suppose it's the writers' way of reminding us that she's 'unstable'. (She drives me mad too, but for different reasons.)

They are being so unpleasant to Annette, aren't they? Every single thing that everyone says to her has the subtext 'Get your feet from under our table and bugger off back to France, love!' She's not exactly undamaged herself.

MamaHobgoblin · 26/04/2009 13:50

oops. I meant, Pat and Tony are over-protective of Helen. I've always mixed up the two couples!

R4 · 29/04/2009 00:09

What is the world coming to!!!??(please excuse multiple exclamation marks but they are entirely justified)

I've just been on the Radio 4 website: apparently the Archers is a "contemporary drama in a rural setting". What happened to the "everyday story of country folk"?

MargaretMountford · 30/04/2009 19:17

noooooo !!!!!

Ponders · 12/05/2009 19:17

Is anybody else getting very bored with all the Matt/Lilian/Borchester Land stuff atm?
