Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to administer Bert's mucus medicine, or other unusual views.

Spoilers: not on this thread, please! There's a fair amount of stuff going on at the moment but I don't feel inspired to say anything more about any of it for now. Over to you - I hope you all have more enthusiasm than I do!

Had a reply: 'Dinner at mine or go out for drinks. You can choose.'
I'm underwhelmed. Sod dinner at his for a start. (At least it wasn't 'Netflix and spooning on the sofa at mine' like some boring bloke suggested as a first day on a dating site. I declined.)
I would suggest something like 'we could meet somewhere like [pretty touristy town not far away for either of us], get a coffee or something and see how we feel' or 'we could meet on the train to [nearest city] and go to the big museum/art gallery and see how the day goes'

That sounds like a good idea. This is more interesting than the Archers tbh.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Thinking of you. I lost my mother 18 months ago and although it was expected it was so painful for those of us left behind. Nothing prepares you for it.

Not that I am really one to give dating advice to Every1Else, I do query the brain of a bloke who would go shopping AFTER picking up a takeaway, rather than scheduling it to be ready 10 minutes later.

I'm pretty certain that some local supermarkets used to run "date nights" when I was a Monday-Friday singleton in the big smoke. Is that still a thing?

Anyway, I am bored with the "I'm a vegan....down with the farmers...I'll have to eat supplements, you say?...hand me those brownies.." storyline.

Who do we reckon will assist with the baby-Grundy birth?

Me too. I've just eaten a poached egg and something with cheese. Yum.
I've no objection to people eating meat as long as the animals are reared in a welfare-friendly manner.

@Madcats , he'd parked there to get free parking with a minimum £5 spend, but it's a good point.
I think Asda did singles' nights a few decades ago. There's an Asda fairly locally but it's not conveniently located for me, and I didn't like it when I last went.
I'm not in the big smoke but where I am is urban. The nearest towns are much nicer. Where he said he lives is on the outskirts of a nearby town. I used to have friends there but they moved when they had children.

He said yes, Sunday, [nice town], so I've suggested going by train as parking there difficult. I'll see what he says. What shall I wear? Options - very bright romper style dungarees, denim dungarees (different ones), straight jeans and smart cardigan-style top, chinos and shirt, twinset and pearls (OK, I made that one up).
Coat as it's a bank holiday weekend in Blighty and it will rain.
I want to wear the first on the list but jeans & smart top probably more sensible.
Am I over-thinking this?
