Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to administer Bert's mucus medicine, or other unusual views.

@LaMarschallin , DCat is thin despite being neutered and her love of pastry and cheese.

I like simple flavours like single ingredients. Having said that, I use lot of spices when I use them but I'm fussy about which ones.

Wouldn't Brookfield's insurance have paid for the dead sheep? Did Lynda & Robert offer to pay because they are decent sorts or are they obliged to? What would've happened if the sheep has been savaged by Mr & Mrs Pauper's dog? Why doesn't David stop being such a shit and let Monty return to home?

The last question is rhetorical btw.

A totally forgettable episode. I did wonder if Lynda was being set up for creeping dementia (not remembering stuff, erratic behaviour etc). I suspect Harrison and his colleagues are pandering to L&R and the “possessions”, letter etc will in fact go straight in the bin.

I love dogs and love Lynda and Robert, so sympathetic.

But.

In all my years of dog owning I'd never have left one outside where strangers could access it when I was away from home, or that it could get out. Always indoors. If outside in the garden I'd have been there too, able to see them, communicating, making sure I knew where they were and that they knew that I knew.

One of the reasons for that was my mother's lifelong memory of the time in her childhood that a neighbour's dog went rogue, killed sheep, and had to be shot by a posse including my grandfather. His distress at the whole thing stayed with her forever, along with the knowledge that any dog could attack sheep, particularly if given the chance to join a pack.

Know where your dog is. Basic rule. L & R: affectionate, indulgent, ultimately negligent and sentimental.

Just had a catch up. When I saw how many unread posts there were I skipped over to Sounds thinking something exciting must have happened. Poor, naive me.

Yes, but they would look to recover from the dog owners - in the same way as, if you have a car crash that is someone else's fault, your insurers will pay out for a hire car, repairs to your car etc, but will seek to recover them from the other driver.

What is odd, however, is that Lynda and Robert haven't once mentioned the possibility of checking their own insurance.

By the time this sheep mauling storyline is over, Monty will have died of old age!

A bit 'JD Sports a few years ago' and chinese.
I was wearing a t-shirt that was navy at some point (maybe 2006), and denim dungarees (£2 from charity shop about 6 years ago, originally F&F).

I think older JD Sports is okay. Definitely suggests he's single now.
Chinese from a supermarket is good, takes a bit of effort: cooking crispy mest, microwaving sauce, then microwaving rice at a different time... but not just nipping out to the nearest kebab house

I have strong feelings about dungarees but, from my point of view, if he chatted you up when you're wearing those he thinks you're gorgeous!

@LaMarschallin , I changed did to do and sent it. No reply yet. It took me about 24 hrs to reply to his, but 12 hrs were before I saw it.

Chinese takeaway was from a chain noodle bar.

I wear dungarees a lot. They're so easy and have lots of pockets. They aren't popular in Style and beauty but jumpsuits are. For me, jumpsuits and culottes need to be a very good cut. Dresses and skirts are more forgiving.
I don't normally make much effort when I go to the supermarket as it's a 10 minute stroll with a trolley, and a lot of the customers are in 'crocs and white sports socks' type clothes.

Keep us posted @LaMarschallin , but be wary. Your story may well end up on the Archers!

I’m enjoying the supermarket encounter too!

I find it boring when posters are consistently negative about the Archers and about the characters.

It is annoying when the plot gets contrived or characters suddenly do something or say something they just wouldn’t do (think Nic running over Tiger).

But mostly I enjoy my listening and it keeps me engaged.

I'm not sure we've ever had a particular encounter here but I've always noticed your name due to my adoration of Terry Pratchett* and the initiation of these threads.
I hope things go peacefully and uncomplicatedly with your mother and that you have support during this time.

I have her friend whose granny advised her (in the friends younger adult years), that supermarkets and graveyards were very good places to meet single men.
