Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd swipe right on Dane, the new Grey Gables manager, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radioaddicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radioaddicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Thanks to @WitcheryDivine for the title inspiration. Over to you!

Thank you, @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

In response to @Trivium4all's post on the last thread: I've had the same thought. And what happens if your mate that works behind the bar is actually called Angela?

I would imagine she would have been the butt of some jokes, but asa regular member of staff would actually know about it. Being in Australia, I've not heard of this, but it's such a good idea though a sad necessity.

Love the title- thanks Gasp!

WitcheryDivine · 21/05/2025 23:32

YEARS I’ve been on these threads, I was on the emoji one and everything, and I’ve never inspired a thread title before! What an honour, thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Archers 💐🎉 😵‍💫 🏠

I know we've all been complaining about the scriptwriting of late, but we do seem to be rattling through threads at quite a pace recently.

Godesstobe · 22/05/2025 00:09

Thanks for the new thread.

Is Darren related to Mikey?

Just checking in.

TottersBlithely · 22/05/2025 05:22

Absolutely, @EBearhug - all this racing through threads makes it look as if we’re actually enjoying TA …

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g! Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/05/2025 04:48

Dane?

No, I was thinking of Darren - a violent, threatening man in The Bull, like Mikey.

But, given how ridiculous some of the SLs have been recently, I suppose it's possible that Dane is a relation of Mikey's who is pretending to be an interim manager at GG in order to seek revenge on Jolene. That would actually explain why it is difficult to believe that any sane person with experience of upmarket hospitality would ever select Dane for that role. The real Dane has been kidnapped and is tied up in a cellar somewhere while fake Dane impersonates him in a cunning plan to get close to Jolene. That makes a lot more sense of Dane now I come to think of it.

RegimentalSturgeon · 22/05/2025 07:35

By that measure, they should kill off characters more often. I see no downside to this idea and in fact have a helpful list.

SunshineBirdSong · 22/05/2025 07:36

Thanks for the new thread ♥️

I think Darren was the unpleasant bloke in the pub.

Ha! The only problem would be where to start.

Bruisername · 22/05/2025 08:06

It would have been far better if Darren had been Dane

that would have made quite a sl

That’s easy - Joy, Mick and Rochelle first

bloodredfeaturewall · 22/05/2025 08:13

setting us up with a ridiculous online dating story line with helen. plus public service announcement ...

Oh, I was thinking more along the lines of Tom, Pip and Kenton.

RegimentalSturgeon · 22/05/2025 09:21

Lynda effing Snell. Murder on the Orient Express style, but a bit more frenzied.

Really? You’d rather than horvilles

i think Kenton and took are good characters because they are irritating!!!

stilldumdedumming · 22/05/2025 09:34

Thank you for the new thread Gasp.
I would keep Tom he is at least consistently written.

MissMarplesNiece · 22/05/2025 10:12

Doh, of course. I posted far too early in the morning and had forgotten last night's episode already.
