Radio Times Ambridge Diary 5-10 January
Leonard is knocked sideways by some emotional news and all does not go well when he faces a difficult day with the Brookfield family standing by his side. Harrison has to fight to keep his emotions in check when he faces a challenging callout, but then receives a surprising offer from his superior. Lily takes matters into her own hands when Brad tells her he's struggling, Jolene makes a rash decision at The Bull, and Khalil's mouth runs away with him.

12th January – 17th January 2025
12.1 Justin faces a dilemma, and plans forge ahead for Ruth.

Haven't heard tonight's yet. The other thread suggests it's not going to be a treat. However, here's the RT for next week, courtesy of Mustardland (Proboards version). Presumably the huge surprise is George-related.

This week one family has a huge surprise and, as they struggle to understand what's happening, it becomes clear that the consequences could be dire. Brian is still reeling from the events of last week and Stella is in the firing line - can they put their differences aside and fight a common enemy? Kenton receives some worrying news that leaves him facing his demons. Meanwhile, the cricket team looks to close in on an elusive win.

Spoiler time. For no real reason other than I'd enjoy it I'm wondering if George is going to escape from prison rather than get early release. Very taken with this wishful thinking from a Mustardlander: I hope Neil's admission is he made the whole foundling story up and Nelly was paid to go along with the story hence how he found her so quickly. Fat chance, I'm afraid, but wouldn't that be great ...

Other than that it looks like draaaama coming, which is almost never a good thing. Really, looking back on it, there was no need whatsoever for Joy to be involved in the Bridge of Doom s/l - and now it looks as if she’ll be muscling in again on whatever’s coming for Archers and Grundys …

Do we know who “Amber” is? It is unusual for a new character to have a surname, isn’t it?

I’m bracing myself for the return to “wall to wall” Joy. The respite was nice while it lasted.

Maybe Amber is Neil's twin sister

Maybe she is Neil's love child.

Well, that's an idea. Susan was in prison from December 1993 for a six-month sentence. During that time Neil came very close to having an affair with a school mum, Mo Travis. She turned out to be a bit of a bunny boiler, IIRC. We were told at the time that Neil did not give way to temptation but we now know the SWs don't give a toss about continuity and are happy to re-write characters' storylines when they feel the urge, so who knows. The actor who is going to play Amber is 30 or 31 so the dates would fit if Amber is a similar age.

I hope they don't, though.

Meanwhile, here's another spoiler! I like this one, especially the last line.

Total TV Guide 21st to 27th June
The Ambridge cricket team really deserves a spin-off of its own - and we’re not talking a slow radio-style thwack of leather on willow. This week, the team’s fortunes look set to turn until last-minute complications knock them for six - and the saga of the cricket teas continues as The Bull finds itself unexpectedly (and inexplicably, given that this also happened last week) short-staffed. Fortunes are also set to turn for a local family when they are presented with a huge development. Kenton faces up to some worrying news, and there’s more angst for Home Farm’s brooding alpha male. And don’t expect good behaviour from George Grundy when Emma pays him a visit behind bars ...

Radio Times 28th June to 4th July
A new face makes her mark and becomes embroiled in all-out war with one resident. Around the BL boardroom, Justin’s suspicions grow and Martyn is the subject of unexpected gossip. Clarrie struggles with her new role. She fears it may be too much for her until Henry offers a helping hand. Kenton’s low mood starts to affect those around him and Neil is attacked by an unlikely source.

With his abrasive manner and gimlet-eyed appreciation of a spreadsheet, Martyn Gibson normally gives absolutely no impression of caring what others think of him. But even he is taken aback to find himself the subject of some unexpected gossip this week. Meanwhile, the arrival of a new resident causes ripples and ructions among the villagers, and a similar upset with the BL board causes Justin’s suspicions to deepen. And, if you could personify the milk of human kindness, Clarrie would be your woman. But the ex-dairymaid’s gentle nature sees her struggling with her new job when she realises her vision of dishing up crumble to apple-cheeked youngsters is far from reality. Luckily, Henry is on hand to offer advice.
