Radio Times Ambridge Diary 5-10 January
Leonard is knocked sideways by some emotional news and all does not go well when he faces a difficult day with the Brookfield family standing by his side. Harrison has to fight to keep his emotions in check when he faces a challenging callout, but then receives a surprising offer from his superior. Lily takes matters into her own hands when Brad tells her he's struggling, Jolene makes a rash decision at The Bull, and Khalil's mouth runs away with him.

12th January – 17th January 2025
12.1 Justin faces a dilemma, and plans forge ahead for Ruth.
13.1 Joy isn’t herself at all, and Helen considers her options.

Sipho was just unpleasant last time. There's plenty of unpleasant already.

Sipho was two and a half last time we heard him in Ambridge (I think he was there but silent in 2023 for Jennifer's funeral). And his mother ignored or shouted at him all the time. Give him a chance: he may have learned to ignore her since 2010.

Noluthando was unpleasant when she was in Ambridge in 2023. Twenty-two going on twelve.

A character acting half their age is entirely in keeping!!

Just checked the future cast lists, Adam, Ian, Oliver, Ruth and Will still missing.

Another week! I've been hoping to filch the Radio Times preview from another site as I usually do, but haven't seen it anywhere. Here's what I do have. Mayhem at the abbatoir this week! Too much to hope that that brings Rochelle's time in Ambridge to an end, though, judging by the cast lists.

27 Apr There’s drama on the cricket pitch and a surprise is sprung on Azra
28 Apr Pat has reservations and Lynda has a point to prove
29 Apr Rochelle is out of options and Rex attempts some aftercare

So can one deduce that Rochelle isn't immediately arrested and removed from Ambridge? I was hoping she'd vanish into custody

The cast lists post 1 May make depressing reading. There is still time for one of the village youth (or Joy) to untie Rex’s narrowboat from its mooring and have it float away, silently, overnight.

I'd prefer it to be untied when Rosie, her mother, and her grandparents were visiting Uncle Rex and Rochelle, and for us to hear (a) their anguished cries as they drift away downstream, and (b) the rest of the Ambridgers ostentatiously hearing nothing of any importance.

An actress called Charlotte Jordan (Daisy in Corrie, apparently) has been doing the media rounds, today, saying that she is leaving Corrie to do traditional acting roles but is also going to be in the Archers.

She beamed as she confirmed: "I am joining The Archers, it's really fun! I start very soon. I can't say much about it but the character will ruffle some feathers, that's what I can say!"

She looks in her 30’s; a love interest for Freddie or Rex? I don’t think that she can be Mrs Gill. Have we ever heard Steph Casey speak (I thought we had, but I can’t be certain).

Oh yawn. Another new character. Can’t we just focus on the existing

Why do they think new characters who "ruffle feathers" are a good fit for this programme?

I hope her feather-ruffling isn't related to Sarah Hehir signing that letter about wicked transphobes. Always a hard storyline to handle well and virtually impossible on radio.

My guess: The feathers will be Josh's chickens, and the new character will be the future Mrs Nina Archer.

Assuming I remembered the name of Josh's girlfriend correctly.

Oooh, Josh with a talking girlfriend would be fun. Does he live with Lily and Ben(?) in Shula’s house? I lose track.

It would mean that Josh would
probably need to be in the cast list more than 1 week/year, which might be more of a challenge.

Josh settling down would annoy Pip, too, which has to be good.

I'll do a proper spoilers round up at the weekend but for now here's a shameless copy and paste from Mustardland. If dondy is here under another name, thank you very much indeed for this! I reckon it is indeed curtains for Peggy, and I assume the rozzers are going to mount a dawn raid in search of Rochelle.

Radio Times 3rd to 9th May

Kate also faces a challenging time and feels guilt for breaking a promise. Natasha receives bad news, but when Emma offers her support, it provokes the wrath of some of the villagers. There’s drama on the cricket pitch as Lynda faces an old adversary, and the VE Day commemorations prove an unforgettable event for many residents.

Freddie’s had a steep learning curve of late, and could use a friend as he faces a tough week. Joy and Mick, meanwhile, are reeling after recent events - but with her tenacity and can-do attitude, could legal eagle Usha be the perfect person to have on side ? At least there’s hope when Joy finds something from her past which could make all the difference. Trauma is triggered at the Tearoom when Lynda brings bad news, and emotions ramp up further when Emma risks the wrath of certain people by offering her support. Also in Ambridge, there’s drama on the cricket pitch as. Lynda faces an old adversary. And holistic therapist Kate needs a spiritual awakening of her own when she breaks a promise to a loved one.

Points to note - one sentence is word for word the same in both of these sections. I guess all the publications might get a story line pack from the BBC which they use to write their own piece.

The Radio Times has a picture of June Spencer as Peggy next to the week’s teasers and a segment on the drama about the year leading up to VE day, which is on next Sunday (4th). I do wonder if she will die on VE Day. They usually have a picture of one of the actors featured in the current week’s SLs next to the teasers.
