Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd have been delighted with a hand-painted squirrel tray for your 40th, as shown below, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

All I have to say about current storylines for now is that I want the George Alice crash stuff to come to a resolution, sooner rather than later, and I also want to hear very little indeed of Alistair, Denise and Paul maundering on. More of Jakob would be very welcome. His brother can come back any time too.

I now declare this thread open for business!

Hello!

DeanElderberry · 15/08/2024 16:21

Hello!

have you done the north London part of the ring yet?

Yes, we like to start at 1 and proceed accordingly, and it helps greatly that we live in SE London and both the London Loop and the Capital Ring start there too. Stage 12 of the CR last week was just gorgeous. Stage 13 today was pretty good too. Stages 14 and 15 will have to wait for a bit as I'm off north again next week, but we hope to polish it off before the autumn sets in.

And back to The Archers ... Yes, nuts to that, Dean. I went for the most tasteless image I could find and I have considerately put the sensitive image tag on so that we don't all get fed up with it during the life of this thread. Grin

Ahahahahaha the pottery photo 🤣🤣🤣

Bruisername · 15/08/2024 16:32

Oh just looked at map and see you were on my bit last week!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/08/2024 16:39

Parkland Walk or the New River or Abney Park Cemetery? We started off in Stoke Newington today in the most hipsterish place possible (lots of LPs on display behind us, chairs were literally old school chairs) but very good coffee. I wonder if anyone in Ambridge listens to vinyl. I also always wonder if the coffee at Terum is any good. Disappointing coffee (i.e. too weak and/or too milky) is a terrible thing.

OP posts:
MerelyPlaying · 15/08/2024 16:42

doesn't Jim drink coffee in there? I imagine him as a bit of a coffee snob so I reckon it’s good stuff.

JanglyBeads · 15/08/2024 16:52

Thanks Gasp. Love the bunny but why is it funny, sorry?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/08/2024 17:01

I think it's a squirrel. That's what I was looking for, anyway. Something akin to whatever it was that George bought Emma for her 40th.

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/08/2024 17:21

Thanks as always Gasp0de

Choccyp1g · 15/08/2024 17:58

Glad to hear that you controlled the "sensitive image" warning.

I was thinking that AI is getting good at recognising bollocks, in which case the whole of the Archers will be restricted.

MereDintofPandiculation · 15/08/2024 17:58

@JanglyBeads It's eating an acorn clutched in its paws, and it has a long brown fluffy tail not a small fluffy white one. I agree it's not quite my internal image of a "tray with hand-painted squirrels round the edge".

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/08/2024 18:02

Not mine either, but I couldn't resist it! I have absolutely no idea what the SW was picturing. Hand-painted tray with squirrels round the edge - what's it for? Full-sized wooden or melamine tray, little ceramic thing for nuts, something to put plants on? Your guess is as good as mine.

OP posts:
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/08/2024 18:10

I thought probably melamine or the modern equivalent, when I heard it had hand-painted squirrels round the edge.

Thanks for the new thread!

PeriIsKickingMyButt · 15/08/2024 18:46

Thanks for the thread!

TottersBlanklyIntoThePhysicGarden · 15/08/2024 18:50

Ohhhh! I’m rewatching MadMen at the moment, so that squirrel dish is giving chip’n’dip vibes. Grin

Thanks for splendid new thread!

ExitPursuedByABare · 15/08/2024 18:53

Signing in. I’ve been away so managed to listen but not keep up with the threads.

Did any horsey folk roll their eyes about the colic incident?

Yay to the hypnotherapist.

Bruisername · 15/08/2024 19:14

i have only one thing to say

litter

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 15/08/2024 19:20

Well I enjoyed that episode, until the end. Poor Alastair.

EBearhug · 15/08/2024 19:21

I do hope Alistair reads his contract to discover he's forbidden from having relationships with those who report to him.

Gonners · 15/08/2024 19:28

So all of a sudden Paul has done a 180 degree turn and apologised? I do hope it turns out that it was him who shopped the dreary pair to Denzil or Darrell or whatever his name was.

Bruisername · 15/08/2024 19:32

Oh Paul had an epiphany

given the cow was at the wedding all day isn’t it more likely that the crisp packet came from there?

CaptainMyCaptain · 15/08/2024 19:35

Crap wedding buffet if it involved packets of crisps.

Marseillaise · 15/08/2024 19:35

FFS, they had time for a public service announcement about litter but none to tell us about Brad's and Mia's A levels????

Minimammoth · 15/08/2024 20:27

Blatent place marking. And…..
go Alice
