Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like The Archers to be wall to wall election conversations for the next month, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Over to you!

If Freddie does not end up as fish food in the mighty Am (or perhaps more appropriately the meat in a tin of Chappie) might he consider it his duty to tell Kenton and really put the cat amongst the pigeons.

I think Kenton already knows about Markie; Jolene told Kenton at the same time as she told the police about him.

TherapistInATabard · 06/06/2024 11:30

Hmm I think MarkieMeatballs trips off the tongue better 😄

You're right! MarkieMeatballs it is.

Developing the criminal gang/mobster theme, maybe an unharmed Freddie will reappear bearing not filched meat but an enormous carp.

Sicilian Mafia symbolic threat from Markie & co: "Sleep with the fishes, Casey". 😮

Fink · 06/06/2024 14:34

Is there really that much of a market for knock off meatballs? I got 20 premium supermarket meatballs for £2.50 this week (they were going out of date, but we just freeze what we don't use on the day), it's hardly worth going out at night to a dodgy pub carpark. I could see that for something expensive like a fillet steak or t-bone you might be able to sell at below market price and still make it worth your while, but how often do people want to buy fillet steak? Plus, I absolutely wouldn't trust anything out of the back of a van to be what it says it is. At least with a steak you can more or less see if it looks right or not, but meatballs and sausages could be made from anything!

Edited

Thanks 👍 I need to keep up, I did know that, but it had completely gone out of my head.

Could they "ship" Chelsea and Ben any more than they already are????

Bruisername · 06/06/2024 19:15

Fgs she’s not even 20

this didn’t add anything to d-day and was mawkish imo

emma with her chip

SlenderRations · 06/06/2024 19:17

Hmm. Better add " order a funeral wreath" to my to do list

WitcheryDivine · 06/06/2024 19:19

So behind - just want to say I’m really enjoying Lynda and New Robert, it’s so nice to spend some time at “their house”.

You mean re the CA line after tonight's episode?

RegimentalSturgeon · 06/06/2024 19:45

Ooh, what did the CA say?

JanglyBeads · 06/06/2024 20:22

Something like "Things start to fall apart completely at The Stables tomorrow night"

Godesstobe · 06/06/2024 20:29

Thank you for the new thread.

Is the fact that the paperwork isn't in order at The Stables proof that Alice was drinking at work (and was therefore drinking more heavily and for longer than we realised)? I can't think of any other explanation for the missing paperwork - there's no reason for Joanne (the only other employee I'm aware of) to have sabotaged things.

Interesting theory. My feeling is that Alice wasn't drinking until we heard it on air (after the meeting with Harry's Mum, was it?), so when she forced Kate along to Doctor Malik's surgery with her, she genuinely wasn't drinking and was hurt by her family's mistrust of her. Which then made them slower to pick up when she did start drinking very shortly afterwards. If another explanation is needed for why mistakes were made at the Stables, it's surely that she was preoccupied with Harry and running off to see him but lying about it and covering it up, as well as being up half the night on the phone to him then having to function the next day.

SlenderRations · 06/06/2024 20:50

Always feel a bit dubious about our people promising not to die for ages , hence wreath flippancy

ThatAgileGoldMoose · 06/06/2024 21:07

Make sense @SlenderRations.

Tonight's episode description said "Harrison comes to a realisation" but I feel like I must have missed what it was!? Fallon did. Did they just get mixed up?!

JanglyBeads · 06/06/2024 21:57

Sorry it was
"Events spiral out of control at the Stables"

(Copied from Spoilers thread!)

Gonners · 06/06/2024 22:08

@SlenderRations & @ThatAgileGoldMoose - I'd very happily contribute to a funeral wreath for Harrison. What the blazes was Fallon smoking this evening?

echt · 06/06/2024 23:05

I agree that Harrison's reference to not dying any time soon had der, der, DER!! written all over it.

Gunfight at the pub car park, with added meatballs. And chainsaws.

moggerhanger · 06/06/2024 23:11

Signing in 😊 (sorry, can't work out how to watch threads on the phone interface)

TherapistInATabard · 06/06/2024 23:44

Hmm couple of mentions from Fallon about her emotions being all over the shop. She’s not still pregnant is she? Maybe she lost a twin 😏

Bring it on! As long as Pip is there too.

I read the life story of Gail of Coronation Street yesterday and thought with relief “TA has a little way to go yet”

@DeanElderberry Which 9 fruits? You can’t leave a line like that just hanging

Sorry @MereDintofPandiculation , I missed the cry for help.

I had a full fruit bowl post-Christmas one year. It was marmalade making season anyway, so I decided to try to stretch the three-fruit concept further, and used Seville orange, sweet orange, blood orange, clementine, mandarin, lemon, lime, grapefruit (pink I think) and pomelo. Marguerite Patten recipe (1001?) from the big blue book. Cook the fruit until soft, cool and then cut the peel into chunks (I use those scissors sold for chopping herbs, on slices about 1-2cm wide), add sugar, boil until set.

Do it over a couple of days, have a radio or podcast to listen to, treat it as a seasonal meditation exercise.

The marmalade was wonderful, with different citrus flavours sparking off each other in every mouthful.
