Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to be married to Harrison, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Another thread started in great haste, mid-packing! Over to you.

I said that in the last thread!

😆 ha brilliant. I am so hoping we are right! 🤣

BeaLola · 24/05/2024 19:18

Well I guess the rude chap who sent Mick packing could be "Rochelle" ? Or sadly Rochelle died as a child but Joy has never accepted it ?

The bit where Joy went My Rochelle has always been a wonderful daughter etc - telling .....

Bruisername · 24/05/2024 19:19

Still think Rochelle is an odd name in this situation

Lalgarh · 24/05/2024 19:22

The bit where Joy went My Rochelle has always been a wonderful daughter etc

i thought she said it in past tense. "My Rochelle had always been a good daughter..." ☠☠

Eastie77Returns · 24/05/2024 19:23

Well done Fallon!

When did Harrison start making that dreadful groaning sound. Awful.

I hope he decides he can’t bear to be with her for now and needs to go and stay with his parents. Anything to spare us this dreadful whining.

RegimentalSturgeon · 24/05/2024 19:25

Joy said Rochelle’s been a fabulous daughter to her. Fabulous being very much the operative word. Lying old trout.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/05/2024 19:37

I second Sturgeon; I was about to say the same. Just a fable.

Godesstobe · 24/05/2024 19:39

My theory is that Joy killed her partner (Rochelle's father) and went to prison and that Rochelle became estranged from her as a result. Hence Joy's empathy for Helen.

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime and @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g, I think we called that “apple snow”?

We did. I made it at school.

So at the archers Mumsnet thread annual lunch we need to make sure there is a fruit and non-fruit based dessert and ensure fink gets one of each so ours don’t get scoffed before we get the chance!

No, you just have to cater dessert-wise for two or perhaps three times the number of guests.

Can I ask for Eton Mess and anything with apricots in it?

Bruisername · 24/05/2024 19:59

Yum, Eton mess. And a cherry clafoutis?

we could just have dessert?

DeanElderberry · 24/05/2024 20:01

(dried or fresh) apricots poached in orange juice, pureed, mixed with whipped cream and Greek yogurt and served with amaretti?

Harrison is deranged

MereDintofPandiculation · 24/05/2024 20:01

Can we have what my mother used to call "elephants' breath"? That's puréed apple with whipped egg-whites folded into it. That’s one of my ways of coping with my annual apple glut.

Something I’ve failed to find the recipe for, though if I put my mind to it I could re-create it - Apple Granny, as sold in Morrisons cafes - basically apple pie with the top crust replaced by a thick layer of fudge. Yes, it’s disgustingly high calorie. And yes, it’s exactly what you want if the weather and life in general has driven you into Morrisons cafe as opposed to the bistro over the road.

Oooooh finally something about infernally cheerful Joy is about to come out

After getting rid of Mick, didnt she recover her brightness quickly? You’ve got to admire her

Bruisername · 24/05/2024 20:06

We also got a more accurate idea of how pregnant she was and not far along at all

Come on! It ill behoves a sturgeon to use “trout” to insult a human

The mask slipped and then she recovered her composure.

Common in practiced psychopaths (sorry I was watching that Imposter Nicholas Rossi thing)

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/05/2024 20:09

No detectable heartbeat might have meant the embryo was not developed enough to have one, of course; something I hadn't thought of until this precise moment.

iratepirate · 24/05/2024 20:09

I did think she sounded a little too bright a little too quickly for it to be natural.

Sturgeons don’t think much of trout on the whole. Or humans - keep your thieving primate hands orf(e) our eggses!

Gorgonemilezola · 24/05/2024 20:16

I would quite happily swing for Harrison after that episode.

moggerhanger · 24/05/2024 20:20

I am breaking cover to say that Harrison is an insufferable whiney pranny who deserves a good slap for the phrase "we were pregnant". It's all about him, isn't it? Self-pitying arse.

Ooh, that's better.

Bruisername · 24/05/2024 20:23

I would love to see a survey of archers listeners and their opinion of Harrison!!

MereDintofPandiculation · 24/05/2024 20:28

iratepirate · 24/05/2024 20:09

Oh, it wasn’t natural. It was forced brightness covering a mind in turmoil. That’s why I admired her.

If only Harrison could do the same!
