Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you would love to take part in the Mysteries, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Thanks to @ButtonSister and @BorsetshireBanality for title suggestions. I went with their idea in the interests of keeping the title fairly short.

@LillianGish and @FoxgloveSummers made cracking but longer suggestions, which (mashed up) will do a great job of kicking off our new thread.

Evictions (Tom and Tash), depictions (Bridge Farm Christmas card), conniptions (entire cast and crew of the Mysteries), convictions (Philip) and addictions (Alice) - what are our predictions for 2022 in Ambridge? All sure to make this the Best Ambridge Christmas Evah!

This thread should take us through to early January unless something very exciting happens (ha ha, fat chance). My predictions: this is a bit left field, but I wonder if Peggy will offer to buy the shop and flat so Tom and Gnasher (great coinage, whose was it?) can stay put. I don't believe Hazel is sincere about wanting to live in/regularly visit Ambridge. She's always been utterly two-faced and rotten to the core, why would she change now?

The Mysteries will, of course be a triumph and briefly borrowing the🔮 (sorry, Bore!) I expect we are going to hear them at some point over the New Year period.

Over to you!

Gah! There was a glitch in the matrix!

LiterallyKnowsBest · 13/12/2021 19:38

Start the Week?

HaveringWavering · 13/12/2021 21:28

When Kirsty started going on about Blake thinking Philip was a good guy I actually checked to make sure that I hadn’t accidentally clicked on an old episode podcast. What’s going on? Wasn’t there an article in the Echo and everything? How can she not know that Jordan has been saved and the penny has dropped for Blake?

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat · 13/12/2021 23:45

I too was taken aback by Kirsty's ignorance of recent Blake happenings. This is Ambridge, after all...

BeaLola · 14/12/2021 01:04

I think Natasha will have a girl. Fur dome reason I can't explain my thought was that Helen will not be best pleased

I was really cheered to hear Chelsea & Blake - it was very natural and better writing than some of the storylines

FoxgloveSummers · 14/12/2021 01:10

Nice name change @TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat!

BorsetshireBanality · 14/12/2021 07:04

Wouldn’t you rather eat pizza at Tracy’s humble council house, even if it meant budging up at the table next to her brother and dad, than eating haute cuisine (well Robert Snell’s impression of Rick Stein) at Ambridge Hall?

LillianGish · 14/12/2021 08:23

If everyone is an extra in the Mysteries then who on earth will be in the audience? (We all know it will be us - well those who bother to tune in - since the only possible reason for the SWs to drone on with this drivel is to fill a couple of extra hours of the R4 Christmas schedules). Tedious beyond belief.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 14/12/2021 08:37

Audience? All the nameless inhabitants of the old executive and new new build estates, surely?

🎭

LiterallyKnowsBest · 14/12/2021 08:38

Oh!

🔮

TomTash:

Twins.

Mark my words …

WhoppingBigBackside · 14/12/2021 09:26

Twins? Ambridge already has two sets but it isn't out of the question

FoxgloveSummers · 14/12/2021 09:36

Oh no! Not two of them.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/12/2021 09:50

Twins - I wouldn't put it past the SWs.

I hope Kirsty is gearing up to tell Lynda where to go on this extras issue. Surely nobody is going to pay to stand around in a muddy field watching amateurs perform a Mystery Play in semi-darkness just after Christmas? I wouldn't. So they might as well come along in their dressing up clothes and take part.

Mia is a pain in the neck. Stella was sensible with her. I like Stella. She deserves a far better partner than Will, if she is actually in want of one. She seems very confident in her own skin, so perhaps she will be that rare beast, a happy single woman in Ambridge.

OP posts:
LiterallyKnowsBest · 14/12/2021 10:00

No single households allowed in Ambridge!

Where is Stella actually living right now?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/12/2021 10:02

I wonder if she's in the House of Horror? (Blossom Hill Cottage is where I think I mean.)

OP posts:
LiterallyKnowsBest · 14/12/2021 10:04

And regarding twins

Kenton & Shula

Lily & Freddie

They definitely need some in the coming generation. And it’s either Bridge Farm or Home Farm’s turn …

WhoppingBigBackside · 14/12/2021 10:06

My money is on Royella, Stoby or Rexella

As for Tiny Tomtasha - thirty-something DIL and Cowpat MIL in the same house + TT= recipe for disaster

BorsetshireBanality · 14/12/2021 10:36

Stella a partner for Will - pull the other one it’s got bells on!

FoxgloveSummers · 14/12/2021 11:02

None of the men mentioned have enough brain for Stella. Trying to think who the smarter men are in Ambridge... um.... anyone?

KimikosNightmare · 14/12/2021 11:18

Jakob- obviously book learning as he's a vet and, occasional social lapses aside, generally bright.

Russ- obviously book learning- practical application to every day life questionable- partial redemption for taking time to help Chelsea.

Given Roy's previous job at LL he can't actually be as thick as they've decided to make him for the moment.

WhoppingBigBackside · 14/12/2021 11:36

Alistair, - Alistella?

FoxgloveSummers · 14/12/2021 11:49

I've advocated lesbianism for Stella right from the start. Who knows - HAPPINESS FOR KIRSTY? They could have an opposites attract thing with the eco stuff.

Actually Kirsty is basically big Mia, why aren't they friends/or at least know each other (I know they're different ages)

BorsetshireBanality · 14/12/2021 12:21

Ben likes the “more mature” lady - maybe he’ll be her tomboy!

WhoppingBigBackside · 14/12/2021 12:30

Josh is single

Kirsty works at Grey Gables (and was there to take a kitchen delivery from Pat, for some obscure reason: she doesn't work in the kitchen).

Tracy works at Grey Gables.

Tracy knows about Kirsty's unhappiness about Blake.

And we are expected to believe that Tracy did not share with Kirsty her information about Blake?

Get along with you, scriptie; it was a nice try, but it simply doesn't wash.

I have a feeling that there is a tendency for twins to be born to women who have twins in the family, which might explain why Jill and then her daughter Elizabeth had twins. That would make Lily the next likely candidate, heaven preserve us all from the horror.
