Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you think Shula will make an excellent vicar, or other unusual things. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed.

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Thanks to many of you for title suggestions. @JanglyBeads said that this thread had to be a Bert tribute so needed a rhyming title. From an excellent field, I chose the suggestion from @BorsetshireBanality (who also has a cracking username).

Check out the last thread for the other suggestions and various poetic offerings inspired by Bert Fry's passing. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/4349822--Archers-thread-131-A-time-to-plant-a-time-to-reap-Discuss-The-Archers-here

So, who'll get the bungalow? Rex, Stella, Pip? If Rex has to move, will he doss down beside his pigs at Lower Loxley? Or will Rex be a resident at Her Majesty's pleasure, having bumped off Trevor for being the world's most boring man? Now Freddie's on the case, are Russ's days at LL numbered? Will we ever hear Jill again, or was Bert just the first of many older cast members to be dedded? Sad

Over to you!

'probability', damn it all!

TheSilveryPussycat · 29/11/2021 20:41

Stupid episode.

KimikosNightmare · 29/11/2021 20:52

I liked it a lot.

Lighthouse deserved that haircut- poisonous woman.

23MinutesfromTuIseHill · 29/11/2021 21:28

Snell deserved being partially exploded and burned. Poisonous public menace.

Roysnewshirt · 30/11/2021 09:32

I just don’t believe Harrison would pussy-foot around Snell like he did last night. The man has a grown up job to do - though he is good natured enough to participate in her stupid play the community show, he would rightly expect not to be hectored and spoken to like a schoolboy when real life intrudes.

purplesequins · 30/11/2021 10:04

but doesn't everyone has a lynda in their life?

someone with such a presence that even usually upstanding persons of authority quake in their boots?

how the fuck do they do that?

Roysnewshirt · 30/11/2021 11:48

but doesn't everyone has a lynda in their life?

I know what you mean, and I have a couple of that sort (though obvs not as extreme) on my books, but when something actually quite important comes up I have absolutely no problem putting them back in their box and telling them to back off.

Platax · 30/11/2021 11:49

I thought Blake’s swift acceptance of the truth about Mr Moss in the light of a pretty and kind face was a bit unrealistic

I think the point was that it came from Jordan, not the pretty face.

Platax · 30/11/2021 11:51

There is no sensible reason why Lynda would have left Eddie in charge of the production. Why on earth wouldn't she leave it with Kirsty?

TheSilveryPussycat · 30/11/2021 12:29

And why on earth would she drop in on the rehearsal and risk missing her train?

And Fabrice would not have made a mess of her restyle.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/11/2021 12:29

No.

If I did, I wouldn't; I can be rude enough to get rid of even a blight such as that.

(The scriptwrongers have not met my Aunt Nancy.)

TheSilveryPussycat · 30/11/2021 12:30

oops of Lillian*'s restyle

purplesequins · 30/11/2021 12:36

asking maybe if you don't know a lynda you are a lynda Wink

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/11/2021 12:58

I have never so far as I know told a farmer how to run a farm, nor directed a panto, nor attempted to bully a local planning authority, and the idea of running for the Parch Council has me retreating quietly backwards with my forefingers crossed in front of me, so probably not.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/11/2021 12:59

Why Parch, speelchocker? Parish, of course.

ILoveShula · 30/11/2021 14:12

I don't like Eddie

I’m not sure it is unrealistic. It just needs a trigger, then the whole edifice of your life comes tumbling down, and you go over every incident and view it in a different light. Happens very quickly (thinking of the first evidence of my ex’s infidelity) and suddenly your new view holds the same conviction as your previous naive and erroneous view
GotBeatenUp · 30/11/2021 14:51

I agree with MereDint

You sort of know it's not quite right then the scales fall off your eyes.
You don't want to be wrong, so you deny it and try to make it right.

Then you realise that he was a shark all along
Ugh!

Platax · 30/11/2021 16:49

Just to clarify there (since my post was quoted), it wasn't me who suggested Blake's change of mind was unrealistic. If anything, I was making the point that it was pretty realistic for him to believe Jordan, because he views Jordan as his friend, they've been through the same things together, and Jordan had no reason to lie.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/11/2021 18:24

"You're lying!" is Blake's only insult, isn't it? Anything he doesn't like is a lie. (Wonder if his skin is orange?)

MereDintofPandiculation · 30/11/2021 21:05

Sorry about that, platax. I was too lazy to go back to find the original, and I find cut and paste tricky on a tablet. And I’m used to a forum where quotes are handled better.
MereDintofPandiculation · 30/11/2021 21:07

I notice TA has reverted to its original public information role “I know I’m 67 but I thought I was invincible “

JanglyBeads · 30/11/2021 21:24

I presume Hazel is not!going to be discovered to be making up this long covid because that would be incredibly bad move for TA. But I guess she’s still allowed a sinister motive for turning up.
It must be a major prize she’s after if she’s related to eat Kate’s vegan lentil casserole!

23MinutesfromTuIseHill · 30/11/2021 21:39

Too much to hope that Hazel is the hitwoman sent by Victoria to silence Blake Grin
Well, someone should. They can do Mia too, while they're at it.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/11/2021 21:48

She drove 150 miles to Ambridge from Kent but can't be allowed to drive 150 yards from The Lodge to Grey Gables Hotel... No, this is rubbish.
