Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you think Shula will make an excellent vicar, or other unusual things. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed.

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Thanks to many of you for title suggestions. @JanglyBeads said that this thread had to be a Bert tribute so needed a rhyming title. From an excellent field, I chose the suggestion from @BorsetshireBanality (who also has a cracking username).

Check out the last thread for the other suggestions and various poetic offerings inspired by Bert Fry's passing. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/4349822--Archers-thread-131-A-time-to-plant-a-time-to-reap-Discuss-The-Archers-here

So, who'll get the bungalow? Rex, Stella, Pip? If Rex has to move, will he doss down beside his pigs at Lower Loxley? Or will Rex be a resident at Her Majesty's pleasure, having bumped off Trevor for being the world's most boring man? Now Freddie's on the case, are Russ's days at LL numbered? Will we ever hear Jill again, or was Bert just the first of many older cast members to be dedded? Sad

Over to you!

I imagine Lillian as having short-long hair - about shoulder length, dyed and about candy flossy in texture and smelling of ashtrays and hairspray

Lynda would have had a generic short hair probably a reddish midbrown

23MinutesfromTuIseHill · 24/11/2021 14:42

Realistically, Lynda would now look mangy with a pixie cut; and I shudder to think* what hair colourants might have done to the fragile scalp. I don't believe for a minute she will have had full hair regrowth. They aren't even trying to be internally consistent.

*actually, I don't, because Snell. I was and remain deeply disappointed that she didn't die. And at least one person in any right-thinking village would have said so to their spouse or close friend. She is intolerable.

The lost turkey caper had me reaching for the off button. Dreadful.

I quite liked it. I laughed at one point.
LizziesTwin · 25/11/2021 09:46

I’ve been falling asleep or losing attention. How old is Oliver? Chasing turkeys in the dark?

Roysnewshirt · 25/11/2021 10:25

This week has basically been a bit of a filler. May be next week will be better…

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/11/2021 15:27

Am I the only one who never knows whether it’s Oliver orJim speaking?

KimikosNightmare · 25/11/2021 15:42

They're fine. It's Bosh/Jen and Roby/Tex I can't tell apart.
GraceFairbrother · 25/11/2021 19:34

Another week over.
I heart Jazzer.

Last Friday I was waiting for TA, but tomorrow I'll be busy.

I need your help please. What can I ask Kate Andrews, Miatta Fahnbulleh, Emily Thornberry MP and Maggie Throup MP.?

I am really going cos I have a secret crush on Chris Mason, the last one I attended Ed Milliband was on the panel

GraceFairbrother · 25/11/2021 19:35

Should say, I'm a regular on here but don't wish to out myself.

KimikosNightmare · 25/11/2021 19:41

Well that was a good episode.

23MinutesfromTuIseHill · 25/11/2021 19:45

@KimikosNightmare

Well that was a good episode.
Only judged by the dual criteria of 'having words in' and 'filling the gap between the news and Front Row, thus stopping the two from colliding and causing a nasty accident '.
DoctorTwo · 25/11/2021 23:05

I enjoyed the interaction beteen Chelsea and Blake. As others have said, she might be the first Horrobin to be deemed socially acceptable.

Agree - I can't distinguish the younger men but Oliver and Jim are very distinct to me

(And I'm now annoyed with Mumsnet that the quote function isn't working)

BlueCowWonders · 26/11/2021 05:28

I'm thoroughly enjoying the growing up of Jazzer M. Would have preferred it without Jim teasing though

@BlueCowWonders, the quote function works only if you are replying to a post which has not itself used the QF.

Were I Chelsea, I would greatly resent my mother's latest squeeze acting in loco parentis.

Surely there’s only one question - when will Lynda’s investiture be available to watch on Netflix?

Hope you have fun (though it may be a rather somber evening).

LiterallyKnowsBest · 26/11/2021 08:05

Hmm sombre

GraceFairbrother · 26/11/2021 10:24

@LiterallyKnowsBest, I really can't think of anything to ask.

The fact that it is an all-woman panel, was the first thing that struck me.
The last time I attended it was an all-male panel. Times are changing.

It's held in a multicultural town that has a Labour MP.

The issues I would like to raise, but probably won't., are more local issues. One being that the town library isn't fully open - you can order books but not browse, and I think you can book computer time. (internet poverty)
The second issue is probably too tricky - the issue of safety especially for women.
The third issue is the gig economy. Many of the vacancies are temporary or on an as needs basis - hard to balance your life, your budget, childcare etc, and is it just hiding true employment figures.

Any suggestions, please?

GraceFairbrother · 26/11/2021 10:25

If Lynda Snell is reading, let me know if you'd like to pop round when you visit Windsor. I'd love to meet you and Robert.

GraceFairbrother · 26/11/2021 10:26

@LiterallyKnowsBest, what's Netflix?

BorsetshireBanality · 26/11/2021 16:26

Its a subscription streaming service that shows "The Crown" which no royalist would dare to watch!

GraceFairbrother · 26/11/2021 16:35

Good job I don't have it then. I still have no question. Help!
Unless I ask if TA could go back to 6 episodes a week Smile

@LyndaSnellMBE, I could come with you. Lillian would be a liability.

GraceFairbrother · 26/11/2021 16:36

That is someone's username [grin[

ButtonSister · 26/11/2021 17:04

Jazzer massively stepping over the line with Chelsea Hmm
