They wouldn’t ADarkandStormyKnight - Fallon hates her because of Jazzer and the pigs.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 03/05/2019 11:31

But Fallon didn't hater her until then. She made their wedding cake, for example.

JessieMcJessie · 03/05/2019 11:38

whatever she was earning. Did Lily have a job when at Manchester? Was that the plan all along, with Elizabeth’s knowledge, or did CMR expect her to work? I can’t remember now.

Acis · 03/05/2019 11:46

I couldn't understand why Elizabeth and Lily were being so cautious about Freddie's idea. From the sound of it, the cost of putting on his proposed tours is close to nil, so the only possible issue might be insurance which can normally be fixed up quite quickly. So far as the difficulties of organising publicity are concerned, it can't be a bad thing to start off in a fairly low-key way to see how it goes, iron out glitches etc. Seemed to me that they have absolutely nothing to lose and potentially something to gain.

JessieMcJessie · 03/05/2019 11:48

And as far as organisation is concerned, it seemed to me like it was just for small groups of two or three at a time. They do a similar thing at our local zoo- small group “behind the scenes” tours. Seems a good idea.

Motoko · 03/05/2019 11:52

Yes, Lily had a part time job in Manchester, because CMR concentrate on his art if he was working, i.e he couldn't be bothered.

I also couldn't understand why they initially poo pooed Freddie's idea, unless they just did it automatically, because his ideas previously haven't been thought through or something. I'm glad Lizzie's changed her mind to let him try it. I think it would be good for him.

Motoko · 03/05/2019 11:53

Argh, I missed out the word "couldn't" before "concentrate".

JessieMcJessie · 03/05/2019 11:54

Did Elizabeth know Lily was working?

GeorgeTheBleeder · 03/05/2019 11:54

I don’t know what the SW intended to convey but I’d imagine Elizabeth and Lily are entirely accustomed to being in charge of LL. And thinking of Freddie as just another thing (though beloved) to manage. So it would take an enormous shift in perspective to suddenly see him as an active part of LL. Even aside from the ‘being away’ they’re looking at a completely different world once he takes the reins.

JessieMcJessie · 03/05/2019 11:55

And CMR was cocklodging?
How can this man who has had a decent job for years and has no dependents (and presumably Lara has a job) not have had enough money to pay half a year’s rent in Manchester?

ADarkandStormyKnight · 03/05/2019 12:03

I hope this opens Elizabeth';s eyes to CMR - but of course he's just got his feet under the table in the gallery.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 03/05/2019 12:12

It is very odd. Given that absence of Russ from the bailiff scene was the first thing we all noticed as listeners - why on earth did they decide that would be an acceptable episode? It made no sense. Even if he wasn’t in the budget/cast list for the week Elizabeth and Freddie should have been incandescent with fury - and we should have heard that.

I’lll be very annoyed if they just sweep his part in the Manchester debacle under the carpet.

birdsdestiny · 03/05/2019 12:21

It would have been very easy for Freddie to say wait till Russ gets back I will kill him. There is not a parent alive who would tolerate the situation with Russ.

BertrandRussell · 03/05/2019 12:29

Surely Freddie would have gone straight to get Russ?

ppeatfruit · 03/05/2019 13:11

Ref. the bailiff, It was obviously a 'Dramatic' scene" ( the reason why Liliy hadn't told Lizzie before) so beloved of TA writers and producers , why bother with little details like Russ not being around to ask? Maybe that will come in another "Dramatic scene". Cynical, moi?? Grin

autumntimebrowns · 03/05/2019 13:23

I stand corrected lass. In our area tho, our usual bailiffs won't accept credit card payments because the 'customer ' can claim a charge back and so the bailiff wouldn't have the money as it would be in dispute with the credit card company. This doesn't happen with debit cards.

R4 · 03/05/2019 13:33

Really? I would have thought that the problem would be elsewhere in the process. Why would the credit card company want to accept bailiffs as merchants; why would the CC want to pick up a debt from a 'customer' who has only 'paid' because they have been chased through the court system!!

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 03/05/2019 15:56

Did anyone else think that Elizabeth handled that horrible situation remarkably well?

I know it was made easier by the fact that she had £5,300 readily to hand, but, if it had been me confronted by a threatening official in my living room, I would have run away and hidden in the cellar. Or the attic. Or behind the ha-ha..... Anywhere, in fact, to escape such an unpleasant, anxiety inducing scene.

I have anxiety issues myself, so I understand Elizabeth's problems.

I think she was extraordinarily brave, and comported herself beautifully.

She's on the mend, in my opinion.

autumntimebrowns · 03/05/2019 16:18

But that's a bit the point R4. Paying off a creditor with credit is never going to be a good idea.

LassOfFyvie · 03/05/2019 17:24

Lizzie trying to use charge back would mean her lying through her teeth to the credit card company. She stood as guarantor. Lily has been very economic with the actualité as to why she and Russ pitched up but there's no doubt Lizzie is due to pay this.

LassOfFyvie · 03/05/2019 17:32

She handled paying the debt well but that's not a huge problem if she has the money. If my adult child was idiotic enough to run up a debt like that and I had been idiotic enough to have stood as guarantor I could and would pay it off on a card to get it dealt with. There's no point in getting upset at the bailiffs- the money is due.

After the bailiffs had left however idiotic adult child wouldn't know what had hit her.

birdsdestiny · 03/05/2019 17:41

The othet ancient adult involved would also not be living in my house anymore.

BertrandRussell · 03/05/2019 18:04

Lizzie would have had to be a guarantor or Lily wouldn’t have got the flat.
She should have paid. Then summoned Russ to get his story, I can understand her comforting Lily- she’s only 19. But Russ needs a wake up call.

BertrandRussell · 03/05/2019 18:06

And the debt would have been about half that before court fees and bailiff charges.

thislido · 03/05/2019 18:22

I was intrigued by your bailiff story, Bert, what hadn't you paid for?
