It did a bit but surely that wouldn't be a storyline after Nic's death.

Helenluvsrob · 13/05/2019 19:57

Sniffle joe....
They must have that scene up their sleeve and prepped for ages

GeorgeTheBleeder · 13/05/2019 20:26

On another note - I sometimes wonder if I’m missing out by being TV-free. But I’m visiting relatives and there’s a ‘let’s surprise an innocent person with a new garden!’ programme interrupting the soaps. Lovely! Only, the intended recipient is 90 years old and prone to falling over. They’re putting an enormous porcelain paved area in the centre of her garden. Shock

So I’m feeling suddenly grateful for Radio 4 ...

myidentitymycrisis · 13/05/2019 21:06

I wonder if they have some ‘ways out’ for the older cast members prepared? I even thought they might have cobbled Joe’s part together from old stock, or was it him?

MereDintofPandiculation · 13/05/2019 21:38

As a former resident of both the West Midlands and Somerset I certainly don't recognise any of the accents! Clarrie, at least, sounds like my Vale of Evesham family members. Though my mother used to tell me in her childhood you could tell which village someone was form from their accent, so there may be quite a bit of variability. And could someone please explain why Susan Carter and Tracy Horrobin, though sisters, don't share the same (or even a similar) regional accent? That is indeed a good question. Same could be asked about Will and Ed.

I'm not sure I buy the idea of Eddie being a petty criminal. He's cutting corners, expecting to people to pay good money for crap being passed off as something of value, but that's not so different from what we used to see on The Apprentice every week. I don't think Eddie would shoplift, sneak into people's back doors and lift handbags, etc

TheSilveryPussycat · 13/05/2019 22:08

It would be even more confusing if all the Borcetshire natives had the same accent, so I'm happy with this piece of dramatic licence.

I too was startled to hear Joe. I think the scene was him sharing his wisdom with Clarrie for the last time.

On a lighter note, is one triangle of bunting a buntingling?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/05/2019 22:14

He went to quite a lot of trouble to explain to George that George must not tell Clarrie or Ed or Emma and especially not his father that Eddie was "foraging" pheasants from the Estate and had taken George with him to show him how to go about it.

It's called stealing, and if Eddie and George were caught doing it Will would certainly be sacked. Except that the chances are that the person who caught them would be Will -- wouldn't that be lovely for Will? Eddie is a stinker.

LassOfFyvie · 13/05/2019 22:33

Even if one were as financially straitened as the Grundys there is no need to poach pheasants.

Most shoots have more to dispose of after a shoot than they know what to do with. Pheasants are dirt cheap to buy from a butcher and I'm sure Will can take home as many as he wants.

TheSilveryPussycat · 13/05/2019 23:04

For Eddie poaching is a) traditional and b) fun. Hence his wish to pass it on to George.

DadDadDad · 13/05/2019 23:11

Well, R4, I'm not sure what to make of that bra fence, except to say I'm disappointed that no-one was talking about how uplifting they find it. Grin

Jazzer might be the one who susses out Tim... He knows Ed pretty well.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 14/05/2019 00:10

Ah, now ... I’m torn between thinking that would be a really interesting story - and wanting Ed to work it out for himself. For once.

LassOfFyvie · 14/05/2019 00:11

That doesn't excuse it. Eddie really is a very unpleasant man.

I tried to click on a game of thrones thread and ended up here instead - my fingers are trying to tell me I need some entertainment with a lower body count!

LassOfFyvie · 14/05/2019 00:18

I think the point is we don’t really know because Ed doesn’t really know. They could be stolen, smuggled, or not properly controlled, or packed with drugs

Has Ed gone beyond the point where he could go to the police and 'fess up. He doesn't know what is going on beyond it's something illegal but he was sucked in.

LassOfFyvie · 14/05/2019 00:21

and wanting Ed to work it outfor himself. For once

I thought he had worked out it was at the very best well dodgy, but just not exactly what it is. He can't possibly still think it's above board , surely?

GeorgeTheBleeder · 14/05/2019 01:42

I guess I meant work out for himself that he is capable of making a different decision - realising he’s not just a victim of circumstance and that he has far more to lose by complying with Tim’s orders than by stepping away, even now.

Welcome, Tunnocks, to Game of Farms.Smile It's nice to see some traffic in the opposite direction for a change - a lot of Ambridge folk have strayed off to Westeros/Essos.
I can imagine a Pointless question in years to come: name a British actor who has appeared in none of GoT, Dr Who or Holby City.

ppeatfruit · 14/05/2019 09:01

Yes it'll be interesting to discover Jazzer's moral reaction to Ed's sheenanigans, he's not known for his 'straightness' though is he?

DadDadDad · 14/05/2019 09:17

I'm just trying to picture a Game of Thrones crossover.

"I am Natasha Targaryen, Mother of (Welsh) Dragons - I am your Queen now, pigman, the one they call Jon Tom Sow. And you, Tyrion Jazzister will serve as the Queen's (Farm) Hand."

It wasn't Ed who was teaching eleven-year-old George how to poach in 2016!

Did Clarrie know about that, though?

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/05/2019 11:11

Game of Farms Grin

The crossovers are endless-

Hannah Targaryen, Mother of Pigs.

Jill Archer, Mother of Prats

Tom being exiled to the frozen wastelands of the north (Canada)

Also new Chris actor is also in latest GOT series

He was Rhaegar last season, wasn't he?

Sam and Gilly would fit into Ambridge very nicely. Gilly might have to keep quiet about little Sam's biological father.

Melisandre and Lynda could have locked horns over who was going to run the Christmas panto.

Petyr Baelish and Varys would have found Susan a very useful source of information.

ITYM "Susan would find Varys and Little Finger useful sources of information".

That role was made for her!

C8H10N4O2 · 14/05/2019 11:21

Drogon could light the annual bonfire.
