I bet Will doesn't have a passport and the thought of organising that for him and the children probably defeats him. Has he ever been abroad? Have Eddie and Clarrie ever been abroad?

OP posts:
InvisibleLlamaBurningCamel · 11/05/2019 22:57

Will most probably voted to leave.

JazzersMaw · 11/05/2019 23:01

I’m not sure about Willyum’s forrin travel but Clarrie (and I think Eddie?) were involved years ago in a visit with the French village that’s twinned with Ambridge. Yet another SL that’s always been forgotten- that archivist is a big loss. It could be quite topical too. I have a vague idea Will and Em might have had a forrin honeymoon but that’s probably rubbish.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 11/05/2019 23:01

Don’t you remember when Ambridge was twined with that place in France - the entire village (almost) went on an exchange trip - including Clarrie and Eddie?

Ah - wait. 1992 Clarrie read an article about cheap farms in France and she and Eddie signed up for a farm-viewing trip. They scratched around for the ferry fare and set off in May with a second-hand tent, a borrowed lilo and dome tins of corned beef. Found out that the life of a small farmer was no easier in France than in Borsetshire. Eddie disillusioned, cultural epiphany for Clarrie and she became one of the main supporters of the twinning plan with Meyruelle. Slightly condensed from The Archers Archives.

Not sure if either of them has left the country since then. Will went abroad on his first honeymoon. Can’t recall where for his second.

DadDadDad · 11/05/2019 23:14

Thanks, George - that's the kind of expertise on this thread I really appreciate!

I could go in the huff that nobody’s responded to my post that says roughly the same as George’s. SmileI think i’ll go to bed instead. Good night, everyone.

MuffingtonClay · 11/05/2019 23:37

Will and Emma went to Mexico for their honeymoon. That is why Greenwood cottage used to be called Casa Nueva.

chatnicknameyousuggested · 11/05/2019 23:43

These lawyers are just a banderole silks. It's standard.

Acis · 11/05/2019 23:51

Just wish they wouldn't clutter up the thread picking holes in the legal aspects of TA.

We pick holes in everything else, why should legal aspects be sacrosanct?

(Not an Oxbridge graduate, by the way)

chatnicknameyousuggested · 12/05/2019 00:13

DID NOBODY NOTICE WHAT I DID??

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/05/2019 00:31

Gillian Richmond has written scripts for TA before, and they don't seem to have involved the Mia story in particular. Will wasn't even in the cast for the weeks she did last year. So they didn't bring her in for it, though they may well be taking advantage of her having written about it before.

I hope she manages to write a little more nuance to it that just an outright villain and a blameless adolescent.

Redcliff · 12/05/2019 00:40

Station- interesting. I just took people to the loo when needed - the other person watched the whole time.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/05/2019 00:41

Daddaddad
Er, well, imagine you were a Cambridge graduate who really didn't make a point of bringing it up in conversation, and someone then said "Oxbridge types will always bring it up in conversation", then your paradox is that if you reply "well, I don't bring it up in conversation" you're proving their point.

You'd have to get one of your mates who wasn't at Oxbridge to say it for you. "Well, DDD doesn't bring it up in conversation." Grin

Redcliff · 12/05/2019 00:52

It wasn't a public exam - I guess that makes a diffrence.

thislido · 12/05/2019 00:53

Well done chat Smile

DadDadDad · 12/05/2019 01:04

DID NOBODY NOTICE WHAT I DID??

wow

Just wow. I had to go back and re-read it. I had to google "banderole". I had considered "standard" for a flag pun but thought no-one would spot it. That's borderline genius @chatnicknameyousuggested.

When it comes to flag puns, you are the mast-er, in pole position. I would have you on my staff. Grin

(As an aside, "borderline genius" was used to describe someone in the news today...)

A big tent would cost a lot to buy & Will would have to purchase all the other bits and pieces you need for camping. I can’t be specific as I’ve only ever camped as an adult volunteer for beavers & cubs.

Dumdedumdedum · 12/05/2019 05:47

Thank you for the explanation and link, thislido - never heard of that, possibly because I've wasn't living in an English speaking country during the Nineties Grin

chatnicknameyousuggested · 12/05/2019 05:51

Of course I'm a genius. I went to Oxford donchaknow.

Alleycat1 · 12/05/2019 06:45

Did nobody notice what I did?? Yes, but I am only a lurker and rarely comment. Consider yourself 'Booped' though.

CaptainMyCaptain · 12/05/2019 07:33

Redcliff if it wasn't a public exam that would be different although you have an amazing staff/student ratio. I do GCSE' and A levels and the ICE book of regulations is quite clear on not doing anything else like reading or marking. Phones should be turned off apart from one on silent for emergencies. I would love to be able to read my kindle in exams especially A levels which are quite long and everyone is well behaved.

DadDadDad · 12/05/2019 09:10

Ah, Oxford, chat - that would explain why you’re only borderline. (Isn’t there a quote about there being a thin line between genius and madness).

Will could borrow or hire a tent? Will also made a comment about hard it is to get time off. Surely he has annual leave in his contract and his employer must plan for someone with children to have time off in the summer?

Still shuddering in horror at the thought of a Will Grundy camping trip here. It would make Nuts in May (If anyone remembers that) look like a pleasurable and desirable alternative.

I'm so glad Mia got herself out of there. Will has shown worryingly controlling tendencies towards the women in his life in the past and I do not like it.

ppeatfruit · 12/05/2019 09:22

Sorry Blush I remember being surprised at the amount of Brine's fine he had also paid for the clear up. it might deter honest wrongdoers, but the dishonest ones will just make sure they don't get caught.

Apparently there is much more flytipping now than there used to be.

ppeatfruit · 12/05/2019 09:26

Yes 5000Flapjacks But Nic and Emma were able to control Will It'll be difficult for Poppy on her own with him. They need a good nanny or CM straight away.
