Welcome..... I'd concocted a longer title with all sorts of references to bitch stitching and pasta bakes, but was thwarted by the pesky character limit

Can't remember R4! And they would have been resolved by other ancient posters anyway.

(I was sorry to miss posting on ppeat's thread - after being on every single one of the previous 94/95/whatever. But actually it was more fun to read without constantly tripping over my own posts.)

They do seem to be cutting it fine to rescue the Aldridges from an unlikely fate. The thought of their upheaval is almost unbearable.

buckingfrolicks · 24/12/2018 09:28

Oh well spotted Dr R4reud!! That's why Tom was attracted and then finally ... not that he'll have been remotely aware of it himself.

Bittermints · 24/12/2018 09:51

I wasn't just thinking of the amount of money wasted on solicitors' fees, surveys and so forth. Wouldn't the unknown buyers also lose their deposit? Not enough to save Home Farm from being sold but a tidy sum. The CAB says the Aldridges could sue for their own costs.

However, I also think that Kate is unlikely to return from South Africa for the foreseeable future and that may be the way out of this rather implausible SL. Not long before we find out, I suppose. Completion is supposed to be right after New Year, IIRC.

I was furious with her for imposing on David after all he's done to help her

Oh I dunno. He gets his barn repaired and put in good order for free whilst being seen as the hero. Doesn't seem like too bad a deal to me.

AngelinaNeurosurgeon · 24/12/2018 16:51

Don't J&B have a number of holiday cottages to live in, or even to have sold in lieu of the main residence?
And I find it hard to believe there's a shortage of upmarket rented accommodation for them to move into, albeit they might be closer to the Felpersham by-pass than the heart of Ambridge.

QuaterMiss · 24/12/2018 16:59

Alice is living in hers; Kate's provides income for Spiritual Home; and I had thought Debbie also had one but a more knowledgeable poster has said she doesn't. There don't seem to be any spare cottages - oddly, as Home Farm is so much bigger than Brookfield, which can always find another dwelling when the plot requires.

EBearhug · 24/12/2018 17:08

I thought Lexie was going to live in one in return for being Adam & Ian's surrogate.

witchmountain · 24/12/2018 17:53

Looks like Kate's branched out Halloween Grin

She can get very sanctimonious at times and will turn into Pat in her old age. My thoughts exactly, R4.

Merry Christmas posters, lurkers and everyone Xmas Grin

Also it was so obvious Ben was going to be doing that faux bum. Can't wait to hear it in action on the 29th.

Wishing you all a lovely festive time with brimming cups, fruity cakes or whatever tickles your respective fancies. Star

Happy Christmas Xmas Smile. I will make my TA Christmas confession. A few weeks ago I was cooking tea listening to the episode where they were running around asking people to donate props and costumes, for a few seconds I found myself thinking I wonder if I have anything they can use. Blush

mabelchiltern · 24/12/2018 23:32

Merry Christmas Birds! That’s given me a merry chuckle Xmas Wink

Morning all and Merry Christmas.Star
The bird is in the oven so I've just been having a catch-up on last night's episode. David and the SW have noticed that they have 13 for lunch so I'm guessing that there is going to be a surprise extra person at Brookfield.

Merry Christmas to my online "family". Archers

I'm sitting here wondering what to do with this large stack of unsold Vanity of the Bonfires roll-on deodorants. It seems my marketing strategy might not have been as successful as I hoped. Sad

Did someone say that the Canterbury Tales is being broadcast - when and where?

LillianGish · 25/12/2018 10:53

Merry Christmas you lovely lot!

QuaterMiss · 25/12/2018 11:11

I wonder how things are going at Lower Loxley ...

Xmas Grin

Merry Christmas all!

BikingBeatrix · 25/12/2018 12:28

Merry Christmas, everyone. I feel a little jaded with the Archers these days - though I do still listen and read all the online discussions as before. I hope you and yours all have a great time over the festive season.

buckingfrolicks · 25/12/2018 13:34

I'm alone today and the highlight is going to be tonight's archers episode. I want shouting, crying and doors being slammed. I want over-cooked Brussels and cat puke on the carpet. Anything less and it ain't Christmas

cheminotte · 25/12/2018 14:21

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you enjoyed/ enjoy your festive meal.
Looking forward to tonight’s episode. Did enjoy hearing David being wound up yesterday.

EBearhug · 25/12/2018 14:22

Canterbury Tales is Saturday 14:30 and part two I guess the following Saturday.

EBearhug · 25/12/2018 14:23

On R4, obvs.

QuaterMiss · 25/12/2018 19:08

I love Joss!

QuaterMiss · 25/12/2018 19:08

Josh - obvs ...

MikeUniformMike · 25/12/2018 19:09

Nice one Josh.

MargueritaPink · 25/12/2018 19:17

Yes good on Josh. Russ was revoltingly slimy and ingratiating.
