Thanks to witchmountain for the last thread and to dadx3 for Godfathering them! Also to any other posters whose ideas I have borrowed for the title.

The mystery is solved! "The English department is great."

The mystery is solved! "The English department is great."

I was waiting for Elizabeth to say something like, 'That's lovely, Darling, but what about your department?' Grin

DoctorTwo · 23/11/2018 20:01

I thought Tom was tactless with Hannah in tonights episode, especially when he called her 'easy'. It sounds like Lily has had enough of that cocklodger who moved to Personchester with her. Good.

PanicwiththeBisto · 23/11/2018 20:09

The lad who plays Freddie is a good actor and may get snapped up by tv, theatre and film like the actors who play/played Debbie and Emma, still I hope he doesn’t get deaded.

PanicwiththeBisto · 23/11/2018 20:10

Hannah is “easy” though isn’t she Grin

BertrandRussell · 23/11/2018 20:15

Cromercrab-do have a go at making your little eclairs-they are so easy and much better than bought!

LillianGish · 23/11/2018 20:23

Oooh - lots of foreshadowing going on tonight: "After all it is my home" and "You could practically run this place single-handed". I think that's setting up some conflict with Freddie when he finally gets out and finds Lily with her feet firmly under the table. He'll presumably be unable to get a licence ever and so Lily will try to banish him to a far corner of the estate. Or ore likely she'll have a year off and then go back to Uni when she's ditched Russ.

Bekabeech · 23/11/2018 20:43

I think it has been set up in the past that the best solution for the future is if the Twins share running LL. Lily is the business brains. And Freddie could be a flamboyant "Mein host" type (al la Marquise of Bath). They also ought to resurrect LoxFest, with Freddie DJ big.

BertrandRussell · 23/11/2018 20:45

And can I say again "Ffs, Tom Archer-you're 37"

On what planet does a 37 year old man boast to his 20 year old nephew about his "conquests"?

pattyhoo · 23/11/2018 20:54

Tonight's episode had me cringing away! Tom! Oh Tom! Why?!?!

Seems like Lily might be starting to wake up to the wet mess that is Russ.

Bekabeech · 23/11/2018 21:00

Totally agree about Tom! And he showed his total lack of understanding with Hannah, despite Johnny warnings.

echt · 23/11/2018 21:25

Utterly revolting on Tom's part. He behaves like on the Inbetweeners, though without the humour, filth or acting skills. Who on earth talks about their sex life to someone else like this? Other than the media. It reminds me of the many many , mostly US films where one partners asks the other "How was it for you?" If you have to ask....

Anyway, agree that Lily is being set up to run LL, though her being all over it is mysterious as none of this interest, never mind expertise was trailed before. Rather in the way that Freddie's sudden interest in riding was conveniently revived after not being part of his radio life for years.Hmm

echt · 23/11/2018 21:26

That should be "one of".

LassWiADelicateAir · 23/11/2018 22:19

Just agreeing with everyone re Tom. Vile person.

R4 · 23/11/2018 22:32

I wonder if Natasha is like Hannah in that she sees Tom as a ONS / conference bit-of-fun rather than The One.

What would Lily be studying in her first semester of an English degree. It wouldn't be Canterbury Tales, would it?

BitOutOfPractice · 24/11/2018 00:20

It seems obvious to me that this is just the star-crossed bit for Tom and Hannah and that they'll end up together eventually.

echt · 24/11/2018 01:09

Please no, BOOP. Tom is an idiot and sounds (and behaves) like a teenager, but in no way does he deserve Hannah, who is so relentlessly unpleasant.

MadameButterface · 24/11/2018 01:13

“ive been listening for a year sand TA literally destresses me daily”

I initially read this as ‘distresses me daily’ 😁

Bittermints · 24/11/2018 08:19

Just had a thought - could Freddie in due course take over the stables from Shula?

No doubt at all that if the Editor she wants it to happen, Lily could be running LL in a few years. Scope there for a lot of friction if she has to pay over a huge share of the profits to Freddie because of his Y chromosome.

Fink · 24/11/2018 08:19

I thought that too, MadameButterface. In fact, I'm glad you mentioned it because it's only then I worked it out! Blush I was thinking to myself, 'well, why doesn't she just stop listening then if it's only making things worse?!'

pattyhoo · 24/11/2018 08:20

Does anyone else get withdrawals on Saturdays as there are no new episodes to listen to?

Miscible · 24/11/2018 08:40

Russ is so looking to blame Lily for his inevitable failure as an artist. Oh dear, the art scene in Manchester isn't what he expected, if only Lily hadn't dragged him there. He can't paint without her as his muse, she totally wrecked that by disappearing to LL. Still, perhaps his talents will be revived by coming back to live with her in the stately home.

ppeatfruit · 24/11/2018 08:50

Don't get me started on stats and how reliable they are Dad . There are sooo many variables involved in scientific testing that i don't think it's possible to be completely objective. Think of the number of medics who say that their medicines make some people worse. There is no such thing as perfection we live in an imperfect world.

Tom lives in a house share of course he'd discuss his sex life with the others, if they're also in the know, like Johnny.

However it's more than a bit stupid of him to underestimate how 2 faced and manipulative Hannah is.

"Tom lives in a house share of course he'd discuss his sex life with the others,"
With his nephew who's 17 years younger than him? Really?
