Archers Thanks to LilG for the title, and DDD for starting the last thread and the tradition of the thread starter nominating the next thread starter Grin

Lurkers are always welcome to unlurk and join in, including asking questions of the many very knowledgeable posters with a long Archers-listening history.

Don't post spoilers based on forthcoming plot synopses that you've read, there's another thread for that (and we'd love to see you over there). Once an episode has aired then it's fair game. Archers

Baby steps Pip ...

I still can't stand her.

R4 · 22/10/2018 20:59

You can set up (somewhere) a colour scheme which then highlights threadstarter posts in one colour and your posts in another, which helps you spot them on some threads.

I can never remember how to do this and have to look it up every time!
Look at the top-left of the page.
See where it says 'Talk' with something that looks like a clockface next to it.
Click on the clockface and it will give you a drop-down.
Click on customise.

cheminotte · 22/10/2018 21:01

Welcome Baxter .
This is truly the friendliest thread ever !

DadDadDad · 22/10/2018 21:07

R4 - I've never seen that symbol as a clockface - I took it to be a downward pointing arrow indicating a drop-down menu.

I thought Josh was sincerely bonding with his gran over chickens - was there really an ulterior motive? (other than assuaging guilt).

InkySplatter · 22/10/2018 21:16

Hello Baxter. I promise to never budge if you go off topic. I love a good tangent & a ramble.

Tom and Hannah. Gonorrhoea would be too good for them. I hope they get very itchy and something falls off. I can't actually bear how they have made Jonnys home feel like a war zone for a laugh. It actually makes me more cross than it should.

Can't really cope with Rex and Toby talking out of their arses about a 2-3 month olds naps either.

I'm actually very chipper but I do love a grumble on here

It would appear in the only one who LOVES the panto and secretly wants to be in it

R4 · 22/10/2018 21:23

Well, yes, it is a "downward pointing arrow indicating a drop-down menu" but it's not like the other, solid ones in the line above.
To me it looks like the classic ten-to-two clock!Smile

DadDadDad · 22/10/2018 21:27

Oh no you you're not!! Grin

echt · 22/10/2018 21:31

I think Josh is sincere in making up to his grandmother; he's compare and contrast to the golden Pip who still hasn't fully owned up to her role in the cows debacle.

As for the Pip/Toebeee bundling proposition. What could possibly go wrong?

choccyp1g · 22/10/2018 21:44

Another bl**dy baby!

InkySplatter · 22/10/2018 21:45

DadDadDad my grin is full Cheshire Cat right now

Came back to say, not only do I despise Russ for all the obvious reasons, I now have an unhealthy kettle obsession. I think I want a keep warm feature (maybe rapid boil/ removable filter) more than variable temperature, but deep down I want Jenny's tap. The Archers is doing funny things to my family - I caught my 2 year old feeding her dolly kefir recently.

R4 · 22/10/2018 21:55

I thought Josh was sincerely bonding with his gran over chickens - was there really an ulterior motive?

Just done a listen again. Josh discounted cochins and marans in favour of photogenic birds. Silkys: look like fluffy white teapots. Pekins: morphed pretty quickly from a disingenuous "I don't know much about them" to a suddenly-knowledgeable "I've heard they make good pets".
I misheard originally. I thought Josh wanted the birds to be backdrop to farm machinery but he actually said "my egg business". If he is still running his egg business why did he forget to lock up Jill's hens ... unless his aren't free-range. He wants to pass off Jill's bucolic hens-in-an-orchard as his on advertising blurb.
He is a weasel.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 22/10/2018 22:25

Hmmm... Pip and Toby will remain platonic for....

I just thought, Tom and Hannah can have an accidental baby and give it to Ian and Adam?!

MereDintofPandiculation · 22/10/2018 22:48

You can set up (somewhere) a colour scheme which then highlights threadstarter posts in one colour and your posts in another It can happen automatically (maybe on desktop only) - I used to lurk, but when I registered thread starters magically turned green and I turned purple. DH is most puzzled - he cannot work out why my view of MN is different from his!

MereDintofPandiculation · 22/10/2018 22:50

Tom and Hannah can have an accidental baby and give it to Ian and Adam If there's anything at all in heritability, Ian and Adam don't deserve that! (Well, Ian doesn't).

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 22/10/2018 23:00

@MereDintofPandiculation, that’s the major flaw in my plan.

LassWiADelicateAir · 23/10/2018 00:21

Shouldn't Johnny have a girlfriend by now? He is a lovely person and I'm assuming, given that he looks like his father, not unattractive either.

EBearhug · 23/10/2018 01:15

I know it's really all about the sex they're pretending they're not going to have, but why don't Toby and Pip get a new sofa-bed or something, if the current sofa is so uncomfortable?

Fink · 23/10/2018 06:00

I thought the Pip and Toby thing was more setting up for one of them to develop feelings for the other but for them to be unreciprocated. I could be wrong though, maybe it's just more sex.

cheminotte · 23/10/2018 07:24

Err, isn’t Pip breastfeeding? So what exactly is Toby going to do in the middle of the night that will be helpful?

EBearhug · 23/10/2018 08:18

When was the birth? Is she starting to wean her?

You'd think I'd remember when something as momentous as the birth took place...

InkySplatter · 23/10/2018 08:27

I was still breastfeeding my eldest when I got pregnant with my youngest.

I think it's safe to assume Rosie isn't ebf given the amount of time she spends with dad. Maybe they're combi feeding? Even with pumping it can still interrupt the supply.

DadDadDad · 23/10/2018 08:30

I think birth was at end of July.

LassWiADelicateAir · 23/10/2018 08:31

Err, isn’t Pip breastfeeding? So what exactly is Toby going to do in the middle of the night that will be helpful?

She can't be, or not exclusively as there's no way Rosie could have been with her father all afternoon.

Volant · 23/10/2018 09:42

I thought it was Jill who discounted the possibility of going for larger hens?

ppeatfruit · 23/10/2018 10:22

I assumed that stupidly Pip has put Rosie in her own room, so has to get up to feed her in the night and she's wondering if Toby could get up and bring her in to her.

An easily solvable problem by having the cot right next to her bed , or even co sleeping! It worked fine with our three! Thereby also solving the possible "accidental pregnancy" SL.
