Archers Thanks to LilG for the title, and DDD for starting the last thread and the tradition of the thread starter nominating the next thread starter Grin

Lurkers are always welcome to unlurk and join in, including asking questions of the many very knowledgeable posters with a long Archers-listening history.

Don't post spoilers based on forthcoming plot synopses that you've read, there's another thread for that (and we'd love to see you over there). Once an episode has aired then it's fair game. Archers

I thought David was taking a share of Josh's profits?

Peartree17 · 22/10/2018 16:06

Yes, David's taking a chunk of profits. Josh is not being paid to cover Pip's work, is he? I don't think either Pip or Josh pay 'board'.

BertrandRussell · 22/10/2018 16:14

Presumably Pip is paid for being full time on the farm (pre Rosie)?

MereDintofPandiculation · 22/10/2018 18:10

Freddie in Deerbolt?
insidetime.org/hmyoi-deerbolt-prison-regime-info/

£47,000 per prisoner per year (and that's 2010 figures). Surely there must be more cost effective ways to deter people from future crime?

It may seem a supreme waste of time to listen to a radio soap and then read a forum about it, but it's causing me to pick up an awful lot of information on the way.

OK, here goes (deep breath) Hello everyone. Long-time lurker here - 4 years! - and finally mustered up the courage to join in with you all. Rather nervous in such esteemed company. Feels like my first morning at a huge new school! 😲

witchmountain · 22/10/2018 18:43

Welcome Baxter! CakeBrew

I lurked for ages too and by the time I joined in I felt like I knew everyone and kept forgetting that to them I was a complete stranger Halloween Grin ooh, I like the witch hat thingy

What are you enjoying or hating about the Archers currently? Have you been listening forever?

I felt like I knew everyone and kept forgetting that to them I was a complete stranger Halloween Grin

I have had this experience far too often recently - enthusiastically greeting a stranger ... And realising (from their strained expression) that I actually only 'know' them from following them on Twitter. Hmm

Another welcome, Baxter.

Anything involving Freddie.

Anything involving Hannah.

Yes. Several forevers! Halloween Grin

QuaterMiss · 22/10/2018 18:52

Blush Sorry - read that as a post from Baxter to the rest of us. Dunno why as it's in green.

PasteSandwiches · 22/10/2018 18:52

@TheEfficientBaxter I'm a relative newbie too having only commented a handful of times in the last 6 months (been following the threads for 3 or so years). Discussions have always been very fun and friendly, you're in safe hands here 😀.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 22/10/2018 19:13

Never mind Josh. Bert is such a star. 🐓

ADarkandStormyKnight · 22/10/2018 19:15

And Jonny - though I’m not convinced a young man would have spoken to Helen like that.

QuaterMiss · 22/10/2018 19:16

Baby steps Pip ...

Minimammoth · 22/10/2018 19:18

Another welcome. You do realise that thread posters inhabit an invisible estate just behind the Bull. That’s why we are so invested.

Exexexcel · 22/10/2018 19:19

Platonic. Uh huh Hmm

ADarkandStormyKnight · 22/10/2018 19:20

Oh lord - is this the Tom and Hannah parallel storyline that is going to all end inevitably...

NoUnicornsToSeeHere · 22/10/2018 19:35

With all this talk of cow and chicken breeds, the agricultural advisor has been earning their keep recently...

Everyday of country folk (who are traumatised when a fox gets the chickens)

MereDintofPandiculation · 22/10/2018 19:35

I felt like I knew everyone and kept forgetting that to them I was a complete stranger Me too! Wondering why people seemed to ignore my posts. Then, when my cats died, overwhelmed by people's kindness. It helped me a lot at a dark time.

R4 · 22/10/2018 20:23

Josh is a weasel. He doesn't care about Jill and her hens, he just wants a fancy backdrop for his photos for TractorsRUs. He organised Bert to make the henhouse that Josh wanted. He was trying to persuade Jill to get the pretty hens, irrespective of their usefulness. But lucky Jill gets to do the work of looking after them.
It's always all about Josh.

Hello Baxter.Smile

DadDadDad · 22/10/2018 20:26

This is OFFICIALLY the friendliest thread on Mumsnet! Not hard

Someone will tell me now there's some lovely new mums and babies thread where it's all supportive and lovely, but I don't go on those boards very often. Confused

Anyway, Pip and Toby - eugh.

TheEfficientBaxter · 22/10/2018 20:27

Thankyou all. What a lovely welcome! Only been listening and lurking for four or five years, but I reckon I've only missed about six episodes in that time.

Yes,MereDint, I think I am among friends here (I have cats too, so was very sad when your two tragically passed away)

I promise to try and stay on the thread topic from now on, but if I start to ramble give me a nudge....

TheEfficientBaxter · 22/10/2018 20:29

Forgot to ask - why are my posts green?

TheEfficientBaxter · 22/10/2018 20:33

They aren't green, are they. They're pink. Anyone know why? (getting flustered now!)

EsmesBees · 22/10/2018 20:33

Delurking to say- platonic? But also, I can't see her getting much more sleep with the new arrangement...

QuaterMiss · 22/10/2018 20:34

I don't know what colour-scheme you have Baxter Halloween Grin but I have the thread-starter in green - yet still managed to mix up who'd written what above.

Bekabeech · 22/10/2018 20:39

You can set up (somewhere) a colour scheme which then highlights threadstarter posts in one colour and your posts in another, which helps you spot them on some threads.
