Archers Thanks to LilG for the title, and DDD for starting the last thread and the tradition of the thread starter nominating the next thread starter Grin

Lurkers are always welcome to unlurk and join in, including asking questions of the many very knowledgeable posters with a long Archers-listening history.

Don't post spoilers based on forthcoming plot synopses that you've read, there's another thread for that (and we'd love to see you over there). Once an episode has aired then it's fair game. Archers

Put me down for a dozen bottles, DadDadDad.

That's Christmas sorted, then 🎅🏻 🎄🎁

cheminotte · 06/11/2018 12:36

I don’t think we have any reason to think Geraldine lives locally. I love fireworks too but wouldn’t personally choose one where my boss would also be! (And I like my boss)

TheEfficientBaxter · 06/11/2018 12:46

Perhaps Roy is still holding a secret flaming torch for Elizabeth, after their fling at that music festival.

It could explain why he was being so 'helpful' at the Halloween fiasco.

MrsArthurShappey · 06/11/2018 13:21

Vanity of the Bonfires

Bravo DDD, stupendous!

Miscible · 06/11/2018 13:52

To be fair to Roy, Geraldine's first reaction also was that they would have to offer refunds. I suspect Elizabeth's refusal to do so wholesale is going to backfire in a big way - surely it's only a matter of time before the local press turn up?

DadDadDad · 06/11/2018 14:52

I think it's just demonstrating that Elizabeth is not thinking straight. When Geraldine caught her napping, she was practically incoherent in the ensuing conversation, jumping to lip balm for Freddie when she was meant to be discussing refunds.

If I were her, I'd refund all who asked to create goodwill, book the actors for a repeat performance and promote it with "contains scenes some might find distressing" (or "the show Emma Grundy tried to ban" Grin ), get a buzz going on social media and sell tickets at twice the price.... Profit!

(Trying to be nonchalant about Vanity of the Bonfires, but secretly very pleased with that Blush ).

NotdeadyetBOING · 06/11/2018 15:07

Was alarmed by that guff about Hannah's father. The provision of a 'backstory' smacks of SWs' commitment to her character and an attempt to make us care about her.

As my 11 year old would say, #epicfail

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 06/11/2018 15:41

VG, DDD! Grin

I assumed Geraldine must live locally because I couldn't see any other reason for her to go to the Ambridge fireworks display. LL is two or three miles away and surely there must have been other displays/bonfires in Borsetshire?

Mind you, as my children hate me saying repeatedly, to ASSUME is to make an ASS of U and ME ...

explodingkittensexpansion · 06/11/2018 15:51

Roy should have sued lower loxley for unfair dismissal. He was made to leave.

MereDintofPandiculation · 06/11/2018 16:00

Didn't I hear Lizzie ask about putting it on the website "Sorry about Hallowe'en, sorry about the inconvenience caused, we won't be offering refunds so don't ask". Wonderful PR!

MereDintofPandiculation · 06/11/2018 16:02

Roy should have sued lower loxley for unfair dismissal. He was made to leave. Has Roy been sacked? Oh, we are going into mega-meltdown. It's like a Fay Weldon novel!

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 06/11/2018 16:04

Roy hasn't worked there for ages, MereDint! He's back at Grey Gables now. Bit awkward to stay on after shagging his boss and nearly getting her cited as co-respondent in his divorce as a consequence.

AlbusPercival · 06/11/2018 16:15

I think poor Josh is looking after the family very well given they missed his 21st birthday. I’d have gone nc for that!

LillianGish · 06/11/2018 16:53

Geraldine knows people in hospitality management in Ambridge This is why I assume she must know Emma who used to work at LL and now runs the tea room, tea parties and various other hospitality ventures with Fallon.

Is that you, Susan?
Grin

birdsdestiny · 06/11/2018 18:43

I take it the story with Hannah is that now she has fallen for Tom (who wouldntHmm) whilst he still sees it as fwb.

LillianGish · 06/11/2018 18:45

Is that you Susan? GrinGrinGrin

cheminotte · 06/11/2018 18:56

Err, slight difference between a tea room and a posh hotel / wedding venue etc.

TheEfficientBaxter · 06/11/2018 18:59

Oh, birds, don't say that!

It's going to turn into Fatal Attraction, isn't it? Shock

MereDintofPandiculation · 06/11/2018 19:45

Thanks tiger, GG and LL always seem interchangeable to me, it's only the people who are different. I can remember the Roy/Lizzie affair but I must have had a break afterwards.

JessieMcJessie · 06/11/2018 20:59

But how can you say that when we hear so regularly from Kathy Perks all about the trials and tribulations of being manager of GG? Wink

Fink · 06/11/2018 21:16

And not forgetting Titcombe. He never shuts up about LL.

R4 · 06/11/2018 21:25

And Lewis!

witchmountain · 06/11/2018 21:30

I hope Natasha and Hannah fight to the death over Tom and that he is killed in the crossfire.

I hope Natasha whisks Tom off to her farm.
