Archers Thanks to LilG for the title, and DDD for starting the last thread and the tradition of the thread starter nominating the next thread starter Grin

Lurkers are always welcome to unlurk and join in, including asking questions of the many very knowledgeable posters with a long Archers-listening history.

Don't post spoilers based on forthcoming plot synopses that you've read, there's another thread for that (and we'd love to see you over there). Once an episode has aired then it's fair game. Archers

Did you actually hear that animal episode, Tiger?

Whatever did they talk about? Hmm

Minimammoth · 03/11/2018 14:12

Ah. JeanPaul you are missed.

Eastpoint · 03/11/2018 14:17

I’d have sworn I’d heard Jean Paul, he was such an awkward, yet undoubtedly talented chef.

BolleauxtoBankers · 03/11/2018 15:11

Jean-Paul definitely wasn't voiceless, he was played by Yves Aubert and apparently his accent was so strong, there were complaints the actor was overdoing it - as he was French, it was just his normal voice Grin

Minimammoth · 03/11/2018 15:50

Well he was mostly silent

tillytrotter21 · 03/11/2018 15:51

What are the odds on Helen and the judo man? It sounds a bit promising.

So glad that I found this section totally by chance, The Archers is my one and only soap!

chemenger · 03/11/2018 16:19

I think Elizabeth is going to have a complete meltdown and then businessman-at-a-very-well-flagged-loose-end Brian will step in to help out. Then he and Jenny will move in to LL, at least temporarily, when they sell their house and so rather than coming down in the world they will go up.
I also think the barn will burn down during Christmas performance, killing a well loved character, possibly Jazzer as he rescues a child.

MereDintofPandiculation · 03/11/2018 16:49

What are the odds on Helen and the judo man Not judo! Karate. Totally different.

I also think the barn will burn down during Christmas performance, killing a well loved character, possibly Jazzer as he rescues a child Hopefully it'll be a character that the SWs think is well-loved. Shall we all start saying how wonderful we think Pip is?

Theyprobablywill · 03/11/2018 17:06

I remember the script writers thought Helen was popular. Independent they said.

Bekabeech · 03/11/2018 17:55

I think Roy will come to the rescue of Lower Loxley - it would be nice to hear Elizabeth asking for help after she was so snippy when he tried to warn them last night.

I think Geraldine sounds very similar to Anna Tregorran

birdsdestiny · 03/11/2018 20:44

Roy was getting on my nerves but he has never been someone who fills me with joy. At least he remembered Lexi.

HurricaneFliss · 03/11/2018 21:19

Me too. I wondered what she was doing at LL.

Why is Ben so posh? Why doesn't he speak like the Grundies or Fallon if he's grown up in the same area?

glamorousgrandmother · 03/11/2018 23:40

Shouldn't Ben sound more like Pip or Josh?

LassWiADelicateAir · 03/11/2018 23:44

I wondered about that - either with or without Lexi's help.

echt · 04/11/2018 01:19

I'm surprised he speak at all after the years in the cereal cupboard. He should really come over like those who've been raised by wolves.

echt · 04/11/2018 01:20

"he speak"? Bloody English teachers.:o

QuaterMiss · 04/11/2018 01:32

Not actually an answer but an entertaining tangent, curtesy of the senior badger killer. (Telegraph ...)

witchmountain · 04/11/2018 08:53

I’d don’t think he sounded any posher than Pip or Josh. None of the Archer or Aldridge children have local accents, which seems true to life to me for middle class children who’ve been through local state schools. Also we’ve only heard him with Ruairi. Although I didn’t think he sounded posh enough to have been at a private boarding school for years!

Are we gearing up for Roy going back to work at LL again I wonder? Has Geraldine been given a voice only so she can be sacked on air?

Hello TillyTrotter and welcome. Not all of us are so pedantic about the finer details of martial arts Hmm. I would love Helen and Lee to get together and for Henry and Jack to have a sympathetic father figure who can karate chop shades of shit out of Rob should he ever show his face again!

QuaterMiss · 04/11/2018 10:44

So glad that I found this section totally by chance,

Yes, another welcome tilly! You do understand that it's compulsory to have read the previous 93 threads by the end of your first weekend ...

ADarkandStormyKnight · 04/11/2018 11:51

It would be wrong to sack Geraldine. She may have made a mistake but Elizabeth authorised it. So maybe we'll have an unfair dismissal case on top of everything else... [sigh].

birdsdestiny · 04/11/2018 12:20

I don't think she will be sacked, I think she will leave, because you would wouldn't you?

QuaterMiss · 04/11/2018 12:40

I'm anticipating one of those handbreak turns in the narrative - we've had a week of Elizabeth saying how brilliant Geraldine is, so I won't be surprised if she suddenly decides that the whole fiasco is Geraldine's fault. Perhaps Lily will have to race back to smooth things over?

ImDivingIn · 04/11/2018 12:50

Definitely Legs Akimbo Theatre group.
