Archers Thanks to LilG for the title, and DDD for starting the last thread and the tradition of the thread starter nominating the next thread starter Grin

Lurkers are always welcome to unlurk and join in, including asking questions of the many very knowledgeable posters with a long Archers-listening history.

Don't post spoilers based on forthcoming plot synopses that you've read, there's another thread for that (and we'd love to see you over there). Once an episode has aired then it's fair game. Archers

Delurking to ask for some background information on Lynda and Robert and their - to my ears - lovely relationship.

I think I started listening around the time Jess dropped her salmon. These threads have helped get me hooked.

Miscible · 26/10/2018 09:08

Do we think they're lining Helen up for a relationship with Lee?

MadameButterface · 26/10/2018 10:11

Helen and Mr Miyagi are deffo going to get it on

Agree that Lynda and Robert are one of the best couples on the show. I love them, total couples goals, they way they back each other 100% no matter what but without being annoying or drippy or deluded.

MadameButterface · 26/10/2018 10:16

...and i do hope johnny’s not being set up for some sort of horrible crisis. I noticed that his saintliness is being signposted more than usual, and he is being pressured by a lot of people: new milking responsibilities, freddie wanting him to keep secrets, elizabeth interrogating him, pat telling him to break his promise, tom and hannah being dreadful housemates. How much more can one young lad take? He needs a bit of looking after.

DadDadDad · 26/10/2018 11:07

they way they back each other 100%

Except on whether the Silmarillion is a good book. Grin

Will Helen be able to overcome her aversion to a man touching her?

Also, where are our manners? Good to have another delurker join us! Welcome, OneForSorrow. Archers

Johnny has been more or less left to bring himself up, hasn’t he? Mind you, considering the level of parenting in Ambridge, he’s done a better job than most.....

Miscible · 26/10/2018 11:12

We don't know about Jonny's upbringing, do we? Apart from the fact that neither his mother nor any of his teachers noticed his dyslexia, I don't remember any suggestions that his mother and stepfather were inadequate.

BertrandRussell · 26/10/2018 11:15

But he’s been living in Ambridge for ages- since he was 14 or so? Or am I telescoping time here?

birdsdestiny · 26/10/2018 11:28

Nobody is as nice as Johnny, he must have a terrible secret. Perhaps he has Lexi locked up in a cupboard somewhere.

buckingfrolicks · 26/10/2018 12:11

((Jonny))

LassWiADelicateAir · 26/10/2018 12:47

But he’s been living in Ambridge for ages- since he was 14 or so? Or am I telescoping time here?

I thought he was 16 when he moved? Wasn't it conditional that he would continue in education go to college? And wasn't it the case that Sharon and her husband were doing a pretty good job of parenting?

Panicwithmephisto · 26/10/2018 15:04

Jonny never mentions his (half) sister Kylie who is Susan and Tracy’s niece.

BertrandRussell · 26/10/2018 15:52

Incidentally, who does Johnny work for? Or rather, get paid by?

BikingBeatrix · 26/10/2018 16:43

Didn’t Kylie turn out okay too? A* for Sharon and Eamonn!

BikingBeatrix · 26/10/2018 16:44

I suppose Johnny must be on the Bridge Farm pay roll.

QuaterMiss · 26/10/2018 19:20

That was rather good ...

Johnny Überboop has mentioned Kylie in the past. I guess there just isn't time for more unless she becomes part of the plot?

TheEfficientBaxter · 26/10/2018 19:27

Oh my word! I never thought I would ever hear the word shagging on the Archers!

I never expected to feel sorry for Johnny (his accent is like blackboard fingernails to me! Sorry!) but he is being unfairly 'got at' from all sides at the moment, and it's not fair. He's a good lad. Perceptive too, highlighting that Elizabeth is definitely heading for a mental health 'situation'. Anyone agree?

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 26/10/2018 19:37

Johnny is lovely. Elizabeth is heading for a serious fall. Poor Jazzer.

LassWiADelicateAir · 26/10/2018 19:43

I haven't heard tonight's episode but Elizabeth's behaviour was appalling last night. All "grande dame" and who cares that lowly peasant Johnny will be late for work and inconveniencing some one else in the process.

Tom and Hannah are vile. It really is off for them to have been shagging in the shared living room.

And as for Pat, she was dreadful too- putting pressure on Johnny to break his word.

TubeTop · 26/10/2018 19:48

Delurking because I have to say... What is going on with Lily and Russ?? Have we heard anything? Other than Freddie wouldn't let Lily visit him.

Is driving me mad wondering! Or is this part of the Elizabeth losing the plot build up, that she's forgotten about her other child?

TubeTop · 26/10/2018 19:49

Also when is it going to come out that Nic ran Matt Crawford over?

grumiosmum · 26/10/2018 19:53

We haven't heard from Lily. Although tonight's episode suggested we might next week.

I do think it's a ridiculous omission by the scriptwriters.

TubeTop · 26/10/2018 20:00

@grumiosmum I'm starting to wonder if they are saving up a load of big drastic revelations for Christmas or something. Here's my list:

Nic ran over Matt, Will covered it up and Ed and Bert(?) knew too
Lily and Russ situation update
Christine has no money and Peggy has paid for everything
Maybe also the real reason why Justin wouldn't marry Lilian
Justin paid for the porta loo

It could all come out during a performance of Linda's play!

TheEfficientBaxter · 26/10/2018 20:09

I should like Johnny. I know I should. I'm a Northerner myself (Lancashire) But he really grates on me, and I don't know why.

grumiosmum · 26/10/2018 20:10

I think the Nic/Matt/Will storyline is history now. I think they agreed to keep it quiet, & that's the end of it.

But if we don't get a proper update on Lily & Russ I will feel cheated.
