Archers

No, that's not a jokey exaggeration, this is really the 93rd thread in a series started by PseudoBadger five years ago! In fact, post number Star 90,000 Star in the "official" count will be made on this thread.

Archers

Lovers of The Archers welcome (along with the rest of us who have a more complicated relationship with the "TA" Smile).

One rule we try to stick to: No mentioning of future episode plotlines published in the Radio Times etc. However, once an episode has aired, say what you like!

Archers

What is going to happen to Freddie? And are we ever going to hear from Lily again?
I also am wondering what it will take for Kenton to apologise to Fallon...

Thanks. It's a reference to something Deborah Francis White said on her Guilty Feminist podcast - something along the lines of men don't realise we'd put up with everything else if we could just have dresses with pockets.

DressesWithPockets · 08/10/2018 05:48

I like the Jazzer character - I'm always pleased he's generally in it no matter how much focus there is on what the actual Archers are doing. He never goes silent for long. Do you think he will ever settle down with a nice girl?

QuaterMiss · 08/10/2018 06:02

He wouldn’t want anyone too nice! He seems to like an element of challenge in day to day life.

witchmountain · 08/10/2018 07:05

Maybe someone who could give as good as they got on the banter front, but kind and thoughtful with it. That’s how I see the Jazzer character.

I have a lot of Cos dresses with pockets.

echt · 08/10/2018 07:42

Uniqlo dresses mostly have pockets.

Minimammoth · 08/10/2018 08:08

There are far to many bachelors in Ambridge. Jazzer def. needs a girlfriend, also Jonny, Tom, Alistair, surprised Freddie didn’t, not that there is a law on singledom, but in RL, there would most likely be relationships, of some sort, even Bert and Jim.

witchmountain · 08/10/2018 08:32

It's fairly well balanced with single women: Kirsty, Pip, Helen, Shula, Kate, Peggy, Hannah

Only just over 60% of adults live in a couple - granted some more would be in relationships but not living together: www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/populationestimates/bulletins/populationestimatesbymaritalstatusandlivingarrangements/2002to2017

Peggy, Christine, Kathy...

birdsdestiny · 08/10/2018 09:52

To be fair Kathy could have been married twice, and had an affair with a passing sailor for all we know.

LillianGish · 08/10/2018 10:01

Much as I would love Jazzer to get a girlfriend, I just don’t think he would work so well as a character. I think he is destined to be eternally single and eternally hopeful and long may he continue. He and Jim are two of my favourites - distinctive, well-drawn character not reliant on sudden dramatic twists to say or do anything interesting. Jim’s refusal to use the wording ‘bonding’ for instance - I knew he would never use that word and I’m so glad he didn’t.

drspouse · 08/10/2018 10:28

A crush on someone during which he tries to reform himself would be fun for Jazzer, though. Learning to wash/cook/eat healthily/not be a player and then she goes off with someone else and he reverts to type?

Re the actor doing things in character that he can't do IRL - does Jazzer drive? I don't remember ever hearing that happen.

witchmountain · 08/10/2018 10:51

To be fair Kathy could have been married twice, and had an affair with a passing sailor for all we know. Thant’s why I missed her off the list!

Didn’t Jazzer nick a car at some point?

QuaterMiss · 08/10/2018 11:00

Tbf Kathy did have an affair with a passing* sailor - who then dumped her for the woman who had ‘stolen’ Kathy’s previous husband. Grin

*Couldn’t quite bring himself to pass by the family goldmine, so stuck around ...

glamorousgrandmother · 08/10/2018 12:35

I make my own dresses and always put pockets in.

MrsArthurShappey · 08/10/2018 12:35

Sorry I haven't been around. I did mean Hotter shoes, but I like trotters too!

BikingBeatrix · 08/10/2018 13:43

I have seen a pic of Jazzer sitting on a quad bike - presumably on the BBC website. l don’t recall anything about a car. That doesn’t mean it didn’t happen though!

BikingBeatrix · 08/10/2018 13:44

At risk of sounding like Shula, if l don’t have a dress with pockets, l like a cardigan with pockets.

Gersemi · 08/10/2018 14:21

I looked up Jamie Perks on the BBC's site out of curiosity, and see that he is still down as a trainee tree surgeon. Given that started training at least five years ago, it doesn't sound as if it's going very well.

BertrandRussell · 08/10/2018 14:27

"does Jazzer drive? I don't remember ever hearing that happen."
He certainly drives a tractor....

QuaterMiss · 08/10/2018 14:27

But surgery takes a lot of training. I’m sure the SW would have looked it up. Grin

Didn’t Jazzer deliver milk for Mike for a while? So he can drive a milk cart.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/10/2018 15:00

On the subject of couples, the 🔮 reckons that Hells and the karate instructor will get it on.

Jazzer also had ketamine-induced brain damage years back but the Ambridge Health Fairy waved her magic wand and the brain cells regenerated.

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2018 20:24

Lizzie was very 'off' with Oliver tonight why would that be? He's doing her a favour, or is he? Is she hoping to get Freddie moved more locally,?

So Tom and Hannah are not item any more because he and Nat are going to be doing the deed under the apple trees, notice how she's got an eye for the main chance with Bridge Farm boxes doing her fruit juices. She doesn't sound that nice either.

TeenTimesTwo · 08/10/2018 20:28

Lizzie was just distracted wasn't she?
I came in late, but hadn't she been on the phone to a new hot shot lawyer and was waiting for call back / just thinking about what was said?

witchmountain · 08/10/2018 20:37

Oh DDD the SW have noticed your commendable efforts here and rewarded you with your own special mention and a little joke! (Possibly the only actuary joke - are there others?)

witchmountain · 08/10/2018 20:37
