As Frilly stress Lizzy out, did the SWs forget her heart defect? Will there be long term llama drama karma in The Archers?

I'll join DadDadDads rant ... science and engineering can be hugely creative.

EBearhug · 08/09/2018 14:16

science and engineering can behugelycreative.

Absolutely - what discoveries would have gone unnoticed and what inventions not made, if it weren't for creativity? We specialise way too early in this country. People need a balanced education.

I suppose it is too much to wish that Lily will dump Russ before she gets to Manchester.

LassWiADelicateAir · 08/09/2018 14:25

True about creativity but I don't think anyone on this thread has said otherwise or used creative as a synonym for artistic.

Karting1967 · 08/09/2018 14:33

Surely it’s got to be Chorlton/ChoBo they’re referring to?

wurzelburga · 08/09/2018 14:39

The organic cheese shop is in Didsbury. Do they even know that Russ will be shopping with them?

Lily has been existing in a magical little bubble of secrecy which contains just her and Russ. In the cold light of day, as other people start to elbow their way into her fantasy and she's forced to measure him against normal standards, the true reality will dawn very quickly, I suspect. And his aura of glamour will dissolve sharpish as she notices what a pretentious no-mark he actually is.

LassWiADelicateAir · 08/09/2018 15:05

I think Lily may fund that dumping Russ won't be easy. There is the reference for starters. I think Russ will turn nasty and threaten to withdraw it or make known the connection.

I also think Russ will re-write history - that Lily tempted him ; caused him to ignore protocols ; caused him to give up entirely on his marriage when if it hadn't been for Lily it might still have been saved; caused him to give up his career to be with her. How can she dump him when he has sacrificed so much? (Blah, blah)

Peartree17 · 08/09/2018 15:33

I would like Kenton, Jonn-eh, Jazzer and Ed to lean on Russ, with Jim presiding magisterially, and send him off with his tail between his legs. Never going to happen, of course. I really hope it doesn't drag on for ages though - we've had one story with a woman gaslighted for months by an abusive partner, we really don't need another. A good clean kick in the pants, delivered by Lily who then turns and high-fives Elizabeth would do it for me.

KitchenFloor · 08/09/2018 15:41

Yep that's the shop 😁
I was wondering if the vegan tea shop might be Boho Utopia... There's also a vegan dessert parlour in Withington...

Twyler · 08/09/2018 15:43

Man possibly slightly out of his depth seeking a bit of guidance. I have a gd a couple of months short of her 10th birthday who has slept overnight with us both quite happily many times in the past. She is due to sleep here tonight but is working herself up into a state getting almost hysterical saying she wants to stay at home with her mum who is going out for the evening. She has also been having meltdowns recently over trivial matters for no obvious reason at home and at school.

When we quietly talk to her she tells us that she is not happy but can’t explain why. Her body is definitely changing shape a bit and we are all thinking that perhaps pre puberty hormones are starting to take effect.

Would appreciate any advice on how we can all help her though all this. Thanks in anticipation.

Twyler · 08/09/2018 15:45

Sorry, clearly wrong thread

QuaterMiss · 08/09/2018 15:59

I also think Russ will re-write history ...

But of course!

BikingBeatrix · 08/09/2018 16:16

IME most omnivores don’t like vegan anything especially desserts. Wasn’t he using eggs a few days ago? I suppose omnivore is a bit of a wrong description for him though as there’s so much he seems to dislike.

I find myself fretting about a rerun of the Rob fiasco - surely Lily will see the light long before Helen did.

KitchenFloor · 08/09/2018 16:37

Yes, he had eggs and fish in his internally cleansing whatever it was last episode.

Whoever asked upthread: Russ just said there'd been "an allegation", not that it involved Lilly.

cheminotte · 08/09/2018 16:40

Surely they can’t give him a negative reference based on an allegation? So it would just be a meaningless one: Mr. ?? was employed between x and y date. Which would say a lot of course.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/09/2018 16:49

On the face of it, Russ has thrown everything away for Lily, and one imagines he'll try to guilt her with that.

But the marriage he's ending seems to be to a woman he has no respect at all for, and he seems glad of the excuse to cast off his boring respectable job in favour of his cocklodging artists life. I hope lily has the nous to remember that.

TeenTimesTwo · 08/09/2018 16:53

So, who thinks it was a surprise to his wife that their marriage had been dead for ages?

LillianGish · 08/09/2018 16:58

Just to be clear I was joking when I said I thought it sounded like Lily was after Russ's money - hence the grin. It was the way she said "But what will you do for money?" as the penny started to drop - realising that Russ would be making no contribution.

birdsdestiny · 08/09/2018 17:24

I think they will have to investigate the allegation once it has been made. It's not going to be tricky to uncover is it?
Kenton: Your deputy head has been having a relationship with a pupil.
Head: That's a very serious allegation what evidence to you have.
Kenton:Would you like a quick trip up to Lower Loxley.
Even Harrison could crack this one.

QuaterMiss · 08/09/2018 17:31

If they make it to Didsbury (the one in Northumberland Hmm ) it is absolutely guaranteed that, once her allowance runs out, Russ will suggest that Lily get a p/t job to support them both - because she’s so clever she can get all her studying done in half the time of any other student. He’ll be far too busy polishing his wok and waiting for inspiration.

DadDadDad · 08/09/2018 17:48

True about creativity but I don't think anyone on this thread has said otherwise or used creative as a synonym for artistic.

Lass - I admit it was a bit of a rant on my part stoked by what I heard on Front Row, but actually it was triggered by Bertrand talking about creative people in the context of discussing whether Russ is really an artist. My point is that all humans are creative so there isn't a subset of "creative people" (and it's not a synonym for artists).

cheminotte · 08/09/2018 18:42

I thought Russ calling Lilly his ‘muse’ was very cringe,

LassWiADelicateAir · 08/09/2018 18:52

Fair point DDD. Interesting point about your wife being a musician. My son is doing a music degree. At school he thought he wasn't mathematically inclined and didn't do maths higher. I know basic music theory but the level he has to study seems to me as special a form of language as maths is.

JennyWoodentop · 08/09/2018 19:43

Even Harrison could crack this one. GrinGrinGrin

Well he would do better than me.
My predictions were all wrong. I assumed Russ wouldn't even tell his wife never mind leave her & Lilly would be weeping all over Elizabeth who could do her patient maternal voice, which is almost as annoying as Ruth's little quiet voice.

I also guessed Russ's wife would be pregnant, though I suppose we could still hear that.

I guessed he was after Lily's money in some way - lured by the painting & the stately home lifestyle & not necessarily understanding the finances behind all that. I didn't think he'd plan not to work though, I kind of thought he'd stay at the college - if he wasn't busted - and string Lily along with promises to join her in Manchester & that never actually happening - beacause of the pregnant wife he had no intention of leaving ...........

Saffkat · 08/09/2018 20:35

I remember in the Mallory towers books that Enid Blyton was very clear that there is a distinct link between having abilities in mathematical and music theory Lass so it must be true.
