As Frilly stress Lizzy out, did the SWs forget her heart defect? Will there be long term llama drama karma in The Archers?

Well, Russ isn’t “just starting out” is he? He’s used to living on a decent salary.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 05/09/2018 19:35

Yes but Russ isn’t just starting out. He’s MOVING UP.

Peartree17 · 05/09/2018 19:37

Haven't listened to tonight's yet, but have they paid the deposit on the Manc flat? I suppose Russ will avoid doing so, and then...dump Lily! (here's hoping, anyway - it would be bare grim if he actually went off to Manchester with her). Has Russ handed in his notice?

Oh, I do hope that the Ram of Good Fortune brings money and housing to EdnEmmur.

Mootsie · 05/09/2018 19:39

Russ is turning into another Rob.

choccyp1g · 05/09/2018 19:42

I liked Kenton's reaction, it was pretty much a summing up of the comments on this thread.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 05/09/2018 19:44

Lizzy gives very mixed messages. She has always tried to compensate the twins for the loss of their father, while also spending most of the time working and not really paying them a lot of attention or investing much time in them.

TheMadGardener · 05/09/2018 19:59

Term must be starting this week at the college, I'd have thought. So Russ will either have to go in to work or tell them he's leaving without having given the required notice and open himself up to legal action.

Lily needs a major, major reality check. Not least, someone should show her how 99% of real students live, not with luxury kettles and ravines or worrying about the size of their second bedrooms!! I really want to slap her at the moment and shout WAKE UP!!!

We also need to see what on earth Freddie makes of Russ being in his bedroom and Lizzie spending £££££££ on fancy kitchen gadgets for the lovebirds while her business is collapsing!

TheMadGardener · 05/09/2018 20:01

Ravines? Tagines! Bloomin' autocorrect!

witchmountain · 05/09/2018 20:10

Not litstened to tonight yet but around this time last year I popped into the Hampstead branch of Le Creuset and they had ‘going to university’ bundles! Oh how I laughed.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 05/09/2018 21:28

“It’s lovely but is it Egyptian cotton?” What a colossal bellend 🙄

echt · 05/09/2018 21:53

Russ is on the SLT of the college, so would have been in endless pre-term meetings called by the principal, so not sure how he's got the time to be shopping for expensive fit-outs for the Manchester gaff.

C8H10N4O2 · 05/09/2018 22:25

With respect to Russ, I've come to the conclusion that the LSWs are trolling TA discussion groups/threads. And very effective they are, I can't remember such a bellend in TA in years.

Makes my pre uni trips to IKEA with our lot sound very miserly Grin

DadDadDad · 05/09/2018 22:51

Either Russ has not resigned and phoned in sick (“doctor says it’s the worst case of lower loxley he’s ever seen”) or he’s posted a resignation letter and has blocked the school’s number..

BertrandRussell · 05/09/2018 23:14

Of course it is possible that it’s genuinely a love match........

LarrytheFishwithFingers · 05/09/2018 23:25

Is it just me who is rather unsettled about Russ coming over primarily as a bellend? What with the tagine, the three speed kettle and the herbal lays? I work in a Sixth Form college and he’d be seen as primarily an abuser if he was caught ungilding our Lillies or unwinding our Freds. 18 or below, it’s a position of trust. Imagine if he was a 40 year old consultant or GP grooming a 17 year old. Or is he written that way to make him more plausible. More arse, less abuse.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/09/2018 00:28

I'm a bit gobsmacked that Lizzie didn't say she'd budgeted (she must know that word, she runs a business) for the sort of equipment students usually have. Poor Lizzie, I really enjoyed the pre uni shopping trips with my DD, she'd planned a lovely one.Sad

Is anyone tempted to start a spoof on the HE board amid the various going to uni threads?

Still... at least when russ and lily split, all the stuff will be hers. Well, she can let him have the tagine.

Surely what's going to happen is that when she arrives at uni, her new friends are going to ask why she's living with her dad, and/or he's going to be really embarrassing in the sorts of ways parents are.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/09/2018 00:30

he’d be seen as primarily an abuser

That's exactly how Kenton sees it - and thinks someone should do something about it. It would be good if he could, sharpish.

campion · 06/09/2018 01:58

It's inconceivable that Elizabeth would go from meeting Russ for the first time last week, to allowing him to move himself in to LL and call the shots the next.

The Whitehall Farce isn't quite dead apparently. Though the humorous part has been well and truly extracted.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 06/09/2018 05:49

Lizzy is desperate to keep Lily at LL because she fears Lily will run away with Russ.

I can’t believe Russ would have risked moving in to LL. A cheap hotel or a mate.

GoatYoga · 06/09/2018 06:05

Lizzie is desperate for the reference for Freddy and she has to keep Russ on side for this to happen - he knows it and she knows it.

Does Kenton know about Ellis?

ADarkandStormyKnight · 06/09/2018 06:27

Yes Lizzy has been pulled into the mire.....

Looks like the pickers left without any revelations.

Gruach · 06/09/2018 06:29

But she must realise that a character reference from Russ is the opposite of any use at all, in these circumstances.

At the moment Lizzie is in serious danger of looking like a mother pimping out her vulnerable, teenage daughter to save her son. Bet you a million $ - at some point soon Russ will claim Lizzie pressurised him into writing the reference on pain of banishment from, or even exposure about Lily ...

GoatYoga · 06/09/2018 06:31

I suppose she is hoping that the court won’t find out?

Russ and Lizzie are protecting each other.

actualpuffins · 06/09/2018 06:38

Yes, but shop-bought gooseberry fool is not as non-U as shop-bought cheesecake.

What would be non-U is not buying the one you prefer because you are worried about how non-U it might come across.

cheminotte · 06/09/2018 08:20

Loved Kenton’s reaction and agree he should definitely ‘do something’ .
