Didn't we have the housing already with the estate?

I know someone who wanted to build ten houses on a field with big gardens and communal play area etc. Turned down because the council said on that acreage they needed at least thirty houses and gardens weren't a priority. So they didn't build any in the end

Does anyone else get irritated by the way Pip always emphasises the last syllable of people's names if they end in an "y" sound? It's always To-BEE, LillEE etc. I guess it would annoy me less if she were a less irritating character, but it's another crime to add to her list.

TheAntiBoop · 02/06/2017 10:33

She's just a terrible radio actress.

I hope she gets a big break on tv (where she must be a better actress) so leaves us in peace

ppeatfruit · 02/06/2017 11:23

Ref. Justin's character. I know quite a few changeable people, there's no problem with a chief exec. seeing the details too.

Pip hurt Tobe's pride, he's not used to being dumped. Serve him right.

So Tod's the next one on Pip's list is he? I liked Lily making her up, it's the sort of thing that sisters do, not sure that Pip appreciated it though Grin.

I got to wondering what the actress who plays Pip looks like, and came across this: www.express.co.uk/pictures/galleries/7375/BBC-Radio-4-show-The-Archers-cast-pictures/Pip-Archer-played-by-Helen-Monks-158080

polyhymnia · 02/06/2017 14:25

Surely she's now played by someone called Daisy Badger?

TheAntiBoop · 02/06/2017 14:37

That's old pip I think

TheAntiBoop · 02/06/2017 14:39

Old Tom and old Tony too

GrumpyOldBag · 02/06/2017 17:40

It was dated 2016 so I thought it was fairly recent.

Found Daisy Badger here: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/profiles/15zNb6dL1Hhc4Vt3TjzPFSX/pip-archer

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/06/2017 19:13

Anthea! Oh please....

Gruach · 02/06/2017 19:13

Yay!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/06/2017 19:14

It's definitely Daisy Badger now.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/06/2017 19:15

The name wasn't uttered, but it has to be here, doesn't it?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/06/2017 19:15

Her, even.

Gruach · 02/06/2017 19:19

Definitely!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/06/2017 19:29

Wonderful opportunity for a topical SL missed. Kirsty could easily have thrown in an expletive-ridden mention of the Orange Excrescence when she was ranting about the betrayal of Mother Nature. Angry

MrsArthurShappey · 02/06/2017 20:01

Daisy Badger was in Home Fires and as far as I can remember, was pretty good in it. I never appreciated what a knack there was to radio acting before she became Pip!

selsigfach · 02/06/2017 20:29

Oh, you lot are cleverer than I am with Anthea. I thought we were going to find Justin turning up to an interview to meet Lil herself.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/06/2017 21:30

Oh, I loved Anthea!

I hope we will get to hear her and she won't just be a silent.

Gruach · 02/06/2017 22:07

Also love the fact that Anthea is a link back to Matt.

LillianGish · 03/06/2017 09:17

What actually happened to Anthea in the first place? Lillian has spent no time at all running Amside since she took up with Justin - we might have assumed Anthea was quietly keeping things ticking over. I don't remember her getting the boot. Justin was beyond insufferable last night - smug, self-satisfied and his mention of Helen made me remember just how much he championed Knob in the old days. What is Lillian doing with him?

Gruach · 03/06/2017 11:20

I'm fairly sure I remember Lilian saying she'd had to let her go - after the financial devastation of Matt's flit.

I know ... Amside used to need a whole team of people to run it - and they were generally 'busy'. Now it takes a couple phone calls a week from Lilian while she's waiting for her nails to dry. Hmm

EBearhug · 03/06/2017 11:22

That's what I remember, too.

Yes - when he was talking about when you know how people work, you can get them to do anything, I thought just like Rob but more subtle (more decades of practice.) And I thought, Lilian, when someone tells you what they're like - believe them, and run!

Ceto · 03/06/2017 12:10

I quite enjoyed the thought of Pip having a strop because Toby told her to keep away. She obviously thought she could keep him dangling for as long as she chose. But it's no excuse for being rude to Jill.
