Well him running off didn't make sense

But it makes no sense that he still has the figurines if he was in need of cash when he did a runner

mummytime · 17/05/2017 12:27

Matt told Lilian that he'd had to "pay three times what he'd got" when he'd bought them back from a dealer.
So it sounds as if he'd sold them and then bought them back.

TheAntiBoop · 17/05/2017 12:32

I see - I missed that bit! Impressed he remembered what he'd sold off then

redshoeblueshoe · 17/05/2017 12:32

I totally agree with Grauch. All we hear from Justin lately is him being a twat rude about Miranda, or rude to Lillian.
Whereas Matt is going to charm her, slowly . . . . . .

R4 · 17/05/2017 12:38

I don't understand why getting a divorce seems to be a full time 'job' that can only be done from London. And, from past history, I would have thought that Lil would join him up in London, gadding about shops and having lunches.

DadDadDad · 17/05/2017 12:41

Exactly. He could have treated it as a bit of cold business and just given Lil the money (as has done previously, I think), but it seems he was more sentimental and went out of his way to track these figurines down.

Or is he just enjoying playing mindgames with Lil? (what would be his motivation do so?).

RedBugMug · 17/05/2017 13:45

I enjoyed the speedwatch teaining more than I should.
our own 'lynda' has us on a tight leash for community activities and those meetings are very similar.

Vango · 17/05/2017 19:04

Well given that we know that Matt (the actor) left for the reasons that he did, I'm happy that Hugh is going in the direction that he is - to me, that's wounded pride/bruised ego etc. Of course he still loves Lillian! He's never been one for great declarations of affection, always the one who needed to be in control. He wants her back and will ultimately get her back. And I'll be very happy.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 17/05/2017 19:19

Just wondering, because I can't remember - did Towbeeee ever tell Pip that Kenton was his investor?

Did I miss the discussion about the number of bedrooms at Brookfield. The house used to hold parents plus four DC (Shula, Kenton, David and Lizzie). It now has parents plus three DC plus grandma. That's the same number of bedrooms. Was there some bedroom-sharing in days of yore?

LucretiaBourgeois · 18/05/2017 00:58

It's quite possible a bedroom has gone missing - these things happen. Might it be the same one that turned up at Blossom Hill Cottage a while ago?

PseudoBadger · 18/05/2017 05:48

What great dialogue in the speed watch session! Very similar to how some of my training sessions go Angry

When did Jill come back to live at Brookfield and what were the sleeping arrangements then?
And what about after the flood when I believe Bert came to stay - I think that meant Ben and Josh sharing, but didn't Pip and Jill also have their own rooms at that time?
It just occurred to me that Dave has an ulterior motive here - to make home uncomfortable to Josh so he does go to uni after all. Although Dave doesn't strike me as someone who puts the importance of education above all else, especially when his straitened circs mean he and Ruth aren't in a position to give Josh the financial help they presumably gave Pip.
Poor Josh and Ben - Pip really is Daddy's little princess.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 18/05/2017 08:50

Lucretia 😀

DadDadDad · 18/05/2017 09:03

I'm guessing IAmNot was going to give Lucretia a smiley for her teleporting room comment. Have two from me instead GrinGrin

DadDadDad · 18/05/2017 11:38

Gah! IAmNot's smiley didn't appear when I looked at MN on my phone. I can see it now! (At least, I correctly deduced that one was intended Star ).

IAmNotAUserNumber · 18/05/2017 13:09

You deduced correctly D3, although to be strictly correct I am smiling whereas you as grinning 😁 (I'm grinning now though)

DadDadDad · 18/05/2017 13:25

But your first smiley (at 8:50) looks very similar to the MN grin Grin , showing teeth and an open mouth. Your second smiley just now doesn't look like a grin to me, more like a grimace (someone gritting their teeth in pain)!

A MN smile Smile shows no teeth at all.

Maybe we should return to discussing TA...

IAmNotAUserNumber · 18/05/2017 14:04

I'd better stick to the MN emojis then - clearly there is room for confusion with the ones on my phone! 🍩😱👧🏻🚙🤡👺

CeciledeVolanges · 18/05/2017 14:11

I'm confused about Pip's loan to Toby. Surely she needs to be repaid whether or not she is sleeping with him/living with him? It wasn't just a gift, was it? At the very least it was a capital investment and she should benefit from any appreciation. So why, as soon as they've broken up, does everyone including David seem to assume that it is a sunk cost that will never be recouped solely because the relationship is over?

IAmNotAUserNumber · 18/05/2017 14:21

Cecile because Toby is a loser who will be in no position to repay in the foreseeable future and Pip has absolutely no proof that she either gave him the money or that it was a loan and not a gift.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 18/05/2017 15:47

She could try taking him to the small claims court (or Judge Rinder Grin ) but even with a judgement against him she'd still have the problem of getting the money out of him.
Does he pay rent for Hollowtree?

CeciledeVolanges · 18/05/2017 16:06

I thought he was paying rent to Bert?

MrsArthurShappey · 18/05/2017 16:48

I was shouting at the radio when Toby suggested they go away for a romantic weekend. She just said 'we can't afford it' and then he said 'that's what credit cards are for', at which point she should have said something about the 'loan', even if it was 'I'm never seeing that £5000 again am I?. Dicks the pair of them.
