Good points Mummy time.
I'm hoping Phobe will do something fab outside Ambridge too Grin.

Ceto · 02/05/2017 15:03

When Pip was talking to Toby about repaying her, I couldn't understand why he couldn't at least start paying something out of his earnings from bar work.

David doesn't realistically have a hope of keeping the information from Jill, does he? The relatives clearly aren't keeping it a secret in the village, and she'll probably find out about Eddie being out of a job.

Talking of which, the Dopeys would also be insane to take Pip up on her offer of giving Eddie the bad news. If there is anyone guaranteed to muck it up, it's her.

MrsArthurShappey · 02/05/2017 19:10

I find it amusing that David and Ruth want to keep quiet about everything when that's why they're so cross with Pip, who is REALLY getting on my pip now!

EsmesBees · 02/05/2017 19:12

Oh Nic's back! Been ages since we heard from her. Nice to hear her standing up to Will and Will admitting he's in the wrong.

I don't remember being terribly irritated by Will in the past (although he has always had the capacity to be a bit of a dolt) but he's really become quite the little misogynist of late - seems he can't pass up an opportunity to air his sexism whenever possible. I liked Emma and Nic putting him back in his box this evening.

ppeatfruit it's just a set up for her to meet Matt at the races

How boring. Can we have a sweepstake on how JusLil will end ?

1.Justin drops dead before the divorce and hasn't made a will giving Lilian anything?

2.Divorce goes through but Justin isn't anywhere near as wealthy as Lilian thinks?

3.Lilian goes back to Matt?

  1. In a spin off of 3 Lilian gets a call from the National Crime Agency asking about that £50,000 ?

EmilyDickinson · 02/05/2017 20:38

I wonder whether Phoebe might eventually end up being the local MP. It would fit with her degree (PPE), keep her in the area and provide lots of potential for involvement in story lines. I reckon Ambridge would be a Conservative constituency.

Fink · 02/05/2017 21:01

Well of course Ambridge would be Tory, if the likes of Will living-in-the-1950s Grundy make up their 'young' voters. We don't know what the rest of the constituency outside the village is like though, maybe Loxley Barrett is a hotbed of Trotskyist activism and barely-contained revolution.

In other news, worse advice ever from Alan. He did better when he was counselling Rob along the lines of 'maybe try toning down a little on the psychopathy'. Goodness knows what idiotic thing Pip will attempt now to prove that she is a reliable, trustworthy farmer. Also, it's barely credible that he couldn't even remember the name IBR. I know some vicars in country parishes and they make a point of being aware of the farming issues at least well enough to be able to chat with the locals, they need credibility in the community or they'll get nowhere.

TheAntiBoop · 02/05/2017 21:04

I was hoping he would say that the best way to help would be to go and get a job somewhere like Brazil

IAmNotAUserNumber · 02/05/2017 22:03

So Pip screws up but the local land owners are compensated for their losses; while the local serfs lose their jobs to make up the Brookfield shortfall. So, as usual, it's the Grundies who suffer Sad

Imbroglio · 02/05/2017 22:13

Yes. Especially as Ed covered for her.

redshoeblueshoe · 02/05/2017 22:21

yes but she told Ed she'd come clean, but that's only to The Dopeys, I hope think he will say something.

Imbroglio · 02/05/2017 22:26

None of the Archers are signing up for shifts at the chicken factory, that's for sure.

I'd like to see Will brought down a peg or two. Can't Huge Canoe think of something for him? Preferably something which results in Nic getting her life back with a decent job.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 02/05/2017 22:27

I think it will slip out. Alice, Chris, Ed, Emma Will and Nic all know.

I hadn't a clue what Alan was on about.

BertrandRussell · 02/05/2017 23:36

Does anyone know what Alan was suggesting?

BertrandRussell · 02/05/2017 23:37

Because if we don't, The Idiot Child hasn't got a hope........

TheAntiBoop · 03/05/2017 05:56

I kind of assume he was telling her to pull it together and actually help fix things by making some money.

what happens next will decide how I feel about hugh - if this just ends up with pip saving the day and then is being expected to like her I will be disappointed

R4 · 03/05/2017 08:23

Alan was saying that she needs to make things better. Effectively, he was suggesting that she stop saying "I can't cope with this" and going off in a strop. She needs to woman up and make some money for the farm.
However, I hope that she misunderstands him and instead goes off to help the underprivileged in Africa / Brazil / anywhere-but-Ambridge.

TheAntiBoop · 03/05/2017 08:44

could you imagine her doing charity work? She wouldn't be able to deal with it!

Alan basically told her to stop moping about but in a nice way!

Mootsie · 03/05/2017 09:48

Farming families often rely on casual labour while their children are growing up/at uni/agricultural college etc. Once they are old enough to make an active contribution to the family business, if that's where their future lies, the need for casual labour dries up - other than very busy times like lambing and shearing.

If they can manage without the likes of Eddie to save money, why weren't they all working harder in the first place?
