Kathy's the health club manager, isn't she?

AuldHeathen · 15/02/2017 17:07

I thought Kathy was the health club manager when she first worked there. When Caroline and Oliver first went toTuscany she became hotel manager. Kirsty is now health club manager. I thought then when C an O went back to Tuscany more recently they made Lynda and Roy deputy managers. But maybe I am wrong? Certainly when Roy went back to GG, receptionist was the only job available. It's sad now we know why the Tuscany script line was developed. Sad

TakingTheFifth, so sorry to read that. Flowers I hope you have good support around you.

Megatherium · 15/02/2017 17:13

I doubt any employer would be impressed with hearing the news from a friend. We don't know that Kirsty has spoken to anyone else at GG.

Surely we can take it that they know all about it from Roy? And I'm sure Kirsty is perfectly capable of speaking to her employers herself.

But the point is that there is simply no need for Tom to go to Grey Gables either to let them know or to start jackbooting around about treating Kirsty properly. Why would he think Roy hadn't told them, and why would he think Roy needed to have the law laid down to him about when to expect Kirsty back?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 15/02/2017 18:26

Why would he think Roy hadn't told them, and why would he think Roy needed to have the law laid down to him about when to expect Kirsty back?

I'm assuming Roy has been promoted up to his LL status so there is no reason for any one other than Roy to deal with this with their employers.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 15/02/2017 18:29

Tbf on grumpy farmer we don't know why he took a dislike to her - could be because she's an incomer only. Or because she's a woman

I'm not a grumpy male farmer and I don't like her.

TheAntiBoop · 15/02/2017 18:30

But Tom has no idea when Kirsty wants to go back. So he has absolutely nothing to tell them!

And he is just a friend to Kirsty so no different to Helen or Roy telling her employer (except Roy works with her so will know how to sort it out)

TheAntiBoop · 15/02/2017 18:34

Well I don't like her either! I can imagine her bedside manner isn't great.

Maybe she will get knocked out by a cricket ball to the head and wake up a nicer person

ppeatfruit · 15/02/2017 21:11

Francis I think that , HOPE that, like doctors, vets have been asked to calm down with the comprehensive prescribing of AB's.

Of course Pip will be fit (in the sense that she can rush about the farm hauling bales and animals around.) I don't know what she looks like but Harrison obviously thought she was fit in that sense too Grin

I reckon that it will be Anisha who will save the day for the cricket team.

LowDudgeon · 15/02/2017 21:16

Francis sorry but your anti biopics made me LOL.

I admit I don't like them much but I'm not sure a bull would be bothered either way Grin

Fink · 15/02/2017 21:17

I reckon that it will be Anisha who will save the day for the cricket team.

Of course, she's Asian. All Asian people must be star cricketers. Ifty, Anisha, maybe Usha could even pad up!

TheAntiBoop · 15/02/2017 21:23

Scots aren't really into cricket are they?

I know I should be pleased a woman is going to save the cricket team but it's all a bit yawnorama and cliched isn't it?

JessieMcJessie · 15/02/2017 22:11

Kathy took the manager job at GG after having very briefly gone from the golf club to manage a branch of a chain hotel in Felpersham or Borchester or somewhere. She took that job while Caroline was dithering about whether to delegate the job fully I think. Roy did have to go back as a receptionist but was promoted to deputy manager when Kathy became manager I think, and Lynda is a receptionist only, though she did contemplate applying for either manager or deputy manager and Robert very sweetly talked her out of it. Kirsty manages the health club, which is Kathy's old job from before she went to the health club. She allegedly worked in the leisure industry after she left Ambridge after the jilting.

Takingthefifth so sorry for your loss. Flowers

lottiegarbanzo · 15/02/2017 22:25

Anisha's gaffe with Miranda gave a lot away about her character didn't it - indicating a bad case of foot in mouth. At least I hope it did, rather than just being a 'tip off Miranda' plot device.

When I was a student in Scotland, I think most of our India, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, West Indian, and quite a few of the African students played for the local "County" sides for Cricket. (We were in one region but at the junction of a few old Counties.)

And its okay to say the Archers isn't real in Lincoln unless you are speaking to an Archers Anarchist (who seem batty but nice).

AuldHeathen · 15/02/2017 22:56

Quite a lot of small Scottish towns/villages have /had cricket teams. I suspect it's less popular than it was though - just as in Ambridge - as people have so many more options for work and leisure. My grandfather played cricket in the town he lived in all his life apart from war service. Greenock. In the town we live in the cricket team is full of quite cliquey and unwelcoming South Africans. We went to an open day years ago as one of the sons was keen. I think historically in Scotland it wasn't regarded as a middle class sport, whereas now it probably is a game played in private schools rather than state sector. Shame. Glasgowand Edinburgh have cricket teams too.

AuldHeathen · 15/02/2017 23:07

I'm too tired to try to work out where mummytime went to uni. I'll have a think on the train tomorrow! My relative who lives in Lincoln told me she is an 'Archers addict'. It's reassuring that she spelt it thus. GrinI read a review online of last year's conf. Mention made of a woman sitting with her knitting. Ther'll be another this year - it helps me focus on what's being said.

CeciledeVolanges · 16/02/2017 06:08

Errol to a certain extent when you are handling a bull, size does matter because their neck muscles are so strong they can just lift their head and you with it if you are small enough
