Not exactly upbeat at the moment is it Sad

OP posts:
DadDadDad · 13/02/2017 22:41

That was unplanned - I only noticed after I posted.

I reckon we will hit the 75,000th post some time in March, although that depends on if we keep up the posting rate. With one exception, every spike in posting rate on these threads was generated by one couple - and now Rob's gone, I wonder if anything will replace that storyline for impact?

So, who can remember the exception: the one other event that sent these threads into a frenzy a couple of years ago?

Vango · 13/02/2017 22:43

You're going to say the wedding that wasn't, aren't you?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/02/2017 22:44

Kirsty being jilted at the altar?

DadDadDad · 13/02/2017 22:45

Not if you say it first. Grin

Rather poignant given where that couple's story has ended up tonight.

Vango · 13/02/2017 22:47

Nearly three years! Time has flown.

Vango · 13/02/2017 22:49

Remember that Kirsty told Tom on that dreadful day that she had loved him "for 15 years". Which is why I think they'll ultimately be together.

DadDadDad · 13/02/2017 23:04

Vango - I continue to be impressed by your amazing memory. (I haven't forgotten when you quoted some Archers dialogue from an old episode, and I wondered where you had found the script).

Gruach · 13/02/2017 23:25

Well yes ... I still suspect that Tom & Kirsty - the new Power Couple - has been completely sewn up by SOC - with no get out clause for later editors.

The Grundys exist as a counterpoint to Ambridge royalty - so no need for them to intermarry. Everyone else needs a remarkably strong reason to tread Ambridge earth if they're not even distant blood relations of an Archer.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/02/2017 23:38

Well, others are allowed to tread the Ambridge earth, but must do so silently (save the odd panto miaow).

Harrison is another 'defined role' as bobby, but even he is tenuously connected to the Archers now via Fallon-Jolene-Kenton.

Megatherium · 13/02/2017 23:41

It wasn't clear that she'd been to see the baby was it?

I guess she may have seen him when he was born?

LowDudgeon · 14/02/2017 00:09

Didn't she say something about a nurse encouraging her to see him?

TheAntiBoop · 14/02/2017 08:34

No one can live in the village without some link with the archers. I would just rather Kirsty wasn't knitted into the family

K may have loved Tom forever but I'm not a believer that love conquers all. He has done dreadful things to her and I find it implausible she would want to be with him again.

Fiderer · 14/02/2017 09:12

Sad to read about Sara Coward. Loved her comment to Lynda after they'd been to Grimsby when Robert was looking for a job. Lynda insulted the MD's wife & he didn't get the job.

She said something along the lines of "I shone for him" & Sara C replied, very dry,"Grimsby's loss".

No idea why I remember that. Apart from having spent my maternity leave with TA on a loop. My 3 all knew the theme tune at birth & my eldest is now 20. Still recognises it Grin

SingingAvocado · 14/02/2017 10:16

Belated thanks for the thread, Pseudo. Just caught up on Friday, Sunday and Monday's episodes (phew!) and there was a lot to take in. Sad for Kirsty and also for Sara / Caroline.

redshoeblueshoe · 14/02/2017 10:33

I think the thread with all the cheese puns went very fast.

Gruach · 14/02/2017 13:42

I'll just, as they say, leave this here ...

Have a look. Quite harmless ...

TheAntiBoop · 14/02/2017 13:45

Interesting premise but I don't think I'll be buying.....

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 14/02/2017 13:46

Back in radio range and I guess I'll have to start listening again.
Or just read this thread.

RockNRollNerd · 14/02/2017 14:29

I thought the scene with Kirsty and Tom was a masterclass in 'still' acting for radio. Beautifully done with some real use of silence. Maybe the afternoon play will take note,

Megatherium · 14/02/2017 14:35

Is that Bruce actor as Romeo in that production, Gruach?

Megatherium · 14/02/2017 14:36

Agreed re Kirsty and Tom acting. My opinion of Tom actor has gone up.

Vango · 14/02/2017 14:52

Anyone else listening to this shocking Afternoon Play (Hashtag Love)?

Gruach · 14/02/2017 15:28

Don't know I'm afraid ...

ppeatfruit · 14/02/2017 15:47

Yes I listened to the play Vango I'm not sure it contributed a great deal to R4's afternoon dramatic record.

A first though, it was live apparently, they didn't discuss us but they might well have done Grin

Vango · 14/02/2017 16:12

I thought it was absolutely awful! I'm not sure the listeners benefitted from the social media experiment. And Ruth Jones and Stephen Tompkinson didn't work for me as a couple.....at all.
