IAmNotAUserNumber · 09/03/2017 18:42

DDD I heard the spreadshit ref too and immediately thought of this threadSmile

TheAntiBoop · 09/03/2017 19:13

They have very efficient builders in ambridge

selsigfach · 09/03/2017 19:30

Well played, Harrison!

R4 · 09/03/2017 19:36

Did I hear the defender of law and order telling porky pies?Shock I hope nobody checks facts with Darrington or that could be awkward to explain away.

Vango · 09/03/2017 19:59

I'm another one who goggled at 'Spreadshit Phil' this morning DDD! .

Nice to hear Will back.

Megatherium · 09/03/2017 23:40

I did want to hear someone ask Will what his solution for keeping the cricket team going was when he was so anti Harrison's proposal.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/03/2017 00:37

Will sounded different to me - same rather whiny borsetshire but not quite the same?

I got Harriet Vane. Remember both the carmichael and petherbridge Wimseys, and like some of the books esp Gaudy Night. My mental image of HV was exactly Harriet Walter before she actually ever played the part.

I'm wondering if Toby is going to find being a farmer's partner far too much like hard work for his indolent tastes.

I caught up with several episodes tonight by podcast; they were unexpectedly interspersed with William Shatner advertising some BBC Mars thing on the website. I think he said he'd like to visit Ambridge.... sort of surreal Grin

StVincent · 10/03/2017 00:44

Haha that's just what I thought, The Antiboop! Bish bash waiting room done etc. Or do you think they've just bought some newer copies of Pick Me Up and rearranged the cushions?

parentsvsPIL · 10/03/2017 03:03

Just re Harriet Vane - is Lynda going to discover Caroline's body in the cellar at Grange Farm, à la Busman's Honeymoon?

Imbroglio · 10/03/2017 06:49

I found it disturbing that Shula was so cool about her horse losing any eye.

Alleycat1 · 10/03/2017 07:13

Yes, imbroglio, particularly as it was only sedated and not fully anesthetized. I've had some quite unpleasant procedures and experiences under sedation and really wouldn't fancy having an eye taken out unless I was completely unconscious.

Imbroglio · 10/03/2017 07:20

And it seemed as if Anisha was on her own with the horse?

ErrolTheDragon · 10/03/2017 07:23

Presumably fully anaesthetising a horse has its own risks, could a local vet (even two together) do it safely? as the animal was in pain maybe this really was the most humane approach. Cataract surgery is usually done without general anaesthetic.

I would guess Shula with her years of experience both with the stables and as a vets wife knows that being cool and thinking rationally about the least bad treatment for the animal is best for its welfare.

BertrandRussell · 10/03/2017 07:42

I'm surprised that Anisha operated on her own when she didn't have to......

Francis, sounds like a variation of a previously observed phenomenon relted to the weather forecast........

ppeatfruit · 10/03/2017 08:35

Quite amusing to hear Will back in his whiny , annoying character, with the same argument against having women in the cwicket team that the dinosaur golf and 'gentlemen's' clubs spin out.

ppeatfruit · 10/03/2017 08:37

Now we need his wife Nick joining the team Grin

Yah 2 fingers to you Will!

ameliesfolly · 10/03/2017 09:06

Given all the unpaid help Pip gave Toby when he was a chicken farmer, I thought he was pretty graceless about getting up to help her out for once. Perhaps the tables have turned and we will now see the making of Toby through wholesome hard work in the great outdoors. Would prefer to see Brighton come back to bite him though.

DoctorTwo · 10/03/2017 09:49

It's all fun until somebody horse loses an eye. Wink

IAmNotAUserNumber · 10/03/2017 10:35

I think Anisha is being portrayed as a shit hot vet (as well as a shit hot cricketer). Wondering if it's all building up to her and Alastair having a relationship - hopefully not. Although we never did find out what was going on with A and all his SOC-sponsored meetings in Penny Hassett.

TheAntiBoop · 10/03/2017 11:35

I'm sure she will have a humbling cock up as all competent professionals are obliged to have

EBearhug · 10/03/2017 11:56

I thought it was reasonable of Pip to ask Toby for help given his current cock-lodging status

There were cattle out on the roads. You ask any able-bodied adults around, especially if you would otherwise be alone. It's part of living on a farm with livestock.

Shallishanti · 10/03/2017 13:02

quite, and what was annoying was he didn't seem to grasp the gravity of the situation

ppeatfruit · 10/03/2017 13:45

But Shallishanti To be fair he's not a proper farmer, Toby and Rex (not so much Rex though) are just 'playing' at farming.
