What do we want?
Realistic storylines!
When do we want them?
As soon as the writers see this!

OP posts:

Well I think he showed why it was stupid by getting stuck in the mud and the pair of them drenched!

TheAntiBoop · 04/02/2017 12:59

Although Justin paid stefan to see at quiet and I'm sure questions would be asked about why he didn't report it rather than just sacking rob

ppeatfruit · 04/02/2017 13:06

Dadx3 Knob probably got the details of the evening from Henry. He obviously has been grooming him through the school fence.

DadDadDad · 04/02/2017 13:19

Maybe he did, although we didn't hear that during their playground chat. But even if you knew that Henry was being taken out, you wouldn't know wherever Jack would be there, and it's a long shot to expect that Helen would leave the car unattended.

I thought the comments he made to Henry showed he was being opportunistic.

GrumpyOldBag · 04/02/2017 13:24

For once the scriptwriters got the weather right!

TaurielTest · 04/02/2017 13:33

My most yell-at-the-radio moment was Pat's line about Henry:
"He's going to need a lot of .... reassurance"

THERAPY, Pat. The word you're looking for is THERAPY.

ppeatfruit · 04/02/2017 13:45

Yes true Dad I think the SWs got that wrong. Because if Rob had known where Henry was going he may well have waited outside parked round the corner from the friends' house. Hoping that Hell would just pop in with Henry leaving Jack in the car. Or not Hmm. Either way it was a stupid plan Knob IS stupid Grin

Vango · 04/02/2017 14:26

I think Rob's been watching them, at home and at school, since he got the sack. His plan was probably for Henry to open the door and let him in when there was no-one in the kitchen. In my mind he was going to sneak upstairs and take Jack out of his cot, telling Henry to keep quiet as part of the surprise. But he saw his chance and took it.

CeciledeVolanges · 04/02/2017 14:26

I've just listened and I did in fact shout "yes, call them!" When Kirsty said it. For goodness' sake.

Megatherium · 04/02/2017 14:45

Certainly, but once the facts are out he can't duck that.

CeciledeVolanges · 04/02/2017 14:49

AntiBoop I really like that he failed in his plan to kidnap both of his children AND they all got really wet (and muddy in Helen's case)

TheAntiBoop · 04/02/2017 15:00

Without stefan I don't think there is a case against rob so I suppose it will depend on whether Justin paid him to leave the country and disappear. Unlikely Lillian and Justin will tell the police it was any more than a room or they will get in trouble surely?

Agree that he's been watching them as I'm not sure what else he's been doing since he disappeared - other than making up really bad kidnap plans

Also think he never had any intention of taking Henry - it was only ever Jack

AuldHeathen · 04/02/2017 15:15

I was thinking while listening 'Surely Henry knows his 9s by now'. He might not sound like a 6 yo but I'm sure he knows how to use his mum's phone in an emergency. But Helen had more chance of catching up with Knob and getting Jack back, as she did, than if she'd waited to call the police.

I wonder if her dislike of engaging with the police is because they treated her unpleasantly after the stabbing and were clearly on Rob's side then. Yes, she had knifed him but they also seemed disbelieving re-the DV story. It would be good if DS HardBitch came back for this latest incident and is totally different in her attitude. I imagine too Fallon will hear about the kidnapping from Kirsty, will tell Harrison - and he'll have to do something. At the very least do some investigating.

If I've just repeated someone else's comments on pages 21 and 22, that's cos I've not read the end of the fred. And I am v sorry. Smile

AuldHeathen · 04/02/2017 15:29

Kingscote, even the news on Trump is better today insofar as the 'so-called' federal judge has overturned Trump's anti-Muslim border control edict. In this house we are all hoping the judge has some personal security, doesn't want to further his career in the next 4 years, and he doesn't end up as a character in a John Grisham story. Hmm

starsorwater · 04/02/2017 16:00

Helen still cares about Rob. At least twice he has surprised her alone and she has not told anyone afterwards. She took presents for the children, too. I think if her friends and family were not bolstering her up to divorce she would still be hesitating.

redshoeblueshoe · 04/02/2017 16:28

I was very pleased to be proved wrong, about Rob dying. I have always thought from the time Rob spoke to Helen outside court that she didn't tell anyone because he no longer had a hold over her. She has had a long time to reflect on everything, and she can see clearly now. I could see why she didn't want to ring the police, they weren't exactly nice to her.

Well done Huge Canoe. Now can you do something about Pip ?

ppeatfruit · 04/02/2017 17:15

Yes Vango but that plan would only be successful if Jack sleeps upstairs in the early evening , more likely he'd be in his highchair eating or playing in the playpen. esp. if Hell was cooking. No I don't reckon that's a sensible plan. Also Knob wouldn't have known if Pat or Tony was there. Would he?

TheAntiBoop · 04/02/2017 17:47

I guess he was watching the house and knew they had all left

TheAntiBoop · 04/02/2017 17:48

Sorry - site has been playing up for me today!!

I'd be creeped out once I'd realised he must have been watching for a few days

BiscuitMillionaire · 04/02/2017 17:53

I'm glad no-one got deaded, but I found the end the most unconvincing thing I've ever heard on TA. Rob suddenly giving up without a fight, with no violence, even though he's clearly desperate and a bit deranged. I don't think someone like him would have had no plan on where he was taking Jack either. More convincing would have been him disappearing with Jack but then being caught by police at an airport.

lottiegarbanzo · 04/02/2017 20:36

Just a crazy little plot-hole filler of a thought but... When Rob gave Helen those presents for J + H - a soft toy for H I think (oh so thoughtful and concerned that H shouldn't miss out, 'cos he loves him really) - I thought 'hmm, has he implanted a listening device in there? No no, you're confusing TA with Sherlock'.

But, either Rob had set up permanent / regular camp in 'the lane' (how did no-one spot the parked car, day after day?) and on Bridge Farm itself at any opportune moment (don't they have a dog? Maybe not but a lot of people move around the farm very actively), or, he had a very good idea both of when everyone would be out and, when Jack would be momentarily unattended.

I guess we're meant to think he primed Henry with the 'leave the box in the house' routine. But, unless he had been parked in the lane for a week, just waiting for everyone else to go out (no way, too much chance of being spotted), how did he know this was the day Pat would be visiting Kirsty? Johnny safely in college? Tony and Tom doing whatever they were doing? And how would Henry know when to perform his trick?

He did track Helen's phone after all, so a bit of techy stalking is not beyond him.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/02/2017 22:48

I just listened to it again.Blush
It still worked for me. Rob's car was blocked by Helen's and Kirsty's, he was outnumbered - even if by mere women, I would guess none are weaklings (he didn't know K is pregnant), and both Helen and
Pat were in mother tiger mode. I think he was out of options.

Helen was about to phone the police when she saw his car, which he'd just turned so at that point she really didn't have much choice but to confront him.

TheAntiBoop · 04/02/2017 22:54

The logistics of the road and who was on it and going where are still confusing me. Kirsty and pat must have been on the other side of the tree.

And josh was going a weird way

ErrolTheDragon · 04/02/2017 23:17

I feel almost tempted to buy this Grin
