What do we want?
Realistic storylines!
When do we want them?
As soon as the writers see this!

Not so much sorry for Rob as sorry for a life wasted and a life ruined. And all the other lives also damaged as a result. Why is he the way he is? Why did it all have to turn out as it did? He had everything: good health, a loving wife, doting son, good job, supportive family in law. I heard 'love' in his voice yesterday and my heart broke a little at the waste of a life.

Cromwell1536 · 03/02/2017 10:08

Vango. You old softy.

TheAntiBoop · 03/02/2017 10:09

If you heard last nights episode in isolation I think you would feel sorry for him (but also feel that he was a knob for saying what he did to Henry)

Well I think the play date was way too late for a school night.

Vango · 03/02/2017 10:13

What can I say. He's a brilliant actor.

TheAntiBoop · 03/02/2017 10:15

Has anyone seen him onscreen? Is he as good or is he a natural radio actor (unlike pip!!)

Vango · 03/02/2017 10:15

Actually, I think I can say one more thing!

I'm sure there were folk who felt that Henry would have served his purpose once Jack arrived and that Rob would want nothing more to do with him. Now I actually believe that Rob loves him, as does Henry.

enochroot · 03/02/2017 10:16

Henry (forever more the Wee Gobshite) will definitely need counselling after this.
Someone isn't going to survive the ensuing chaos on wet twisty country lanes.

ppeatfruit · 03/02/2017 10:17

Henwee was going to have his supper\tea or whatever, with his little friend.

Vango · 03/02/2017 10:19

Every time I see that written down I laugh out loud enoch. To me, it conjures up frustration and affection at the same time. Hilarious.

TheAntiBoop · 03/02/2017 10:20

Bit late though surely? Don't they normally just go home after school with their friend? That's the best bit - you don't have to do the school run!!

ppeatfruit · 03/02/2017 10:26

Maybe the friend's mum gets in later from work , IT"S NOT REAL !!!!!!!!!! I'm telling myself too Grin Grin

Vango · 03/02/2017 10:26

Yeah, Anti but Henry's friend does hockey after school on Thursdays so Helen said she'd take H home first and get the homework done before driving him over for tea at 5. Helen's keen to help Henry to reintegrate after last year's drama so didn't want to cancel/re-schedule. Possibly.

Minimammoth · 03/02/2017 10:26

I have just caught up. It's going to end badly whichever way. Poor Henry. He will need therapy, I never understood why counselling has not been on his timetable since the stabbing, especially as he is obviously a year behind in his communication skills.

enochroot · 03/02/2017 10:43

It is a clunkily contrived set of circumstances but I suppose Huge Canoe is looking to knock this story on the head or at least place it on the back burner for a while.
Of course the entire family could collide in a massive pile-up and be wiped out. SATTC.

Alleycat1 · 03/02/2017 10:47

Agree with Vango et al. Rob actor is brilliant and he really did sound upset that he had to leave Henry behind. I thought he was quite sensitive in his explanation to H. I do feel a bit sorry for Rob as he is the author of his own destruction, and something ghastly must have happened in the past for him to be the way he is. However, as an adult he must take responsibility for what he does/has done.

TheAntiBoop · 03/02/2017 10:56

Hockey? Okay. Well it totally distracted me from the point of the episode. They could have come up with a better reason

Agree that rob dying isn't great but I would be quite happy for this whole sl to be over

redshoeblueshoe · 03/02/2017 10:59

Sorry to change the subject but its just dawned on me that Toebeeeee was telling the truth, he just forgot to mention that he is married. I think Pip will tell Rex I know everything and Rex will say So you're OK with him being married ?
At that point I will turn off my radio so I don't have to hear her response Grin

enochroot · 03/02/2017 11:02

My biggest regret if the Rob story ends right now would be that Pip and Tobes will feature more prominently.

SingingAvocado · 03/02/2017 11:04

RedShoe Pip's response will be yet another 'I can't deal with this'!

TeaAndCake · 03/02/2017 11:07

My money's on Knob crashing into Lily Pargetter on a driving lesson in the storm.

Knob conveniently dies, Jack is ok and Lily seriously injured but pulls through and is perfectly well in a fortnight (see; Tony being crushed by a bull and Chris Carter grievously injured by a horse).

Cromwell1536 · 03/02/2017 11:12

Red, that's a brilliant twist! I do hope you're right. Because, unfortunately, I do think we're supposed to believe (that tosser) Tobes at this point. But him leaving out a critical piece of information which would obviously tilt the whole emotional balance, while insisting that he did tell the truth (just not absolutely all of it), would be so in keeping with Tosser Tobes. I suspect Pip would find a way to look past it all though, the twunt.

mummytime · 03/02/2017 11:12

It was definitely yesterday in the episode - google quickly told me Roy Tucker's birthday is 2nd Feb (1978)

Vango · 03/02/2017 11:23

Just filling in the gaps with what would be a plausible explanation round my way.

TheAntiBoop · 03/02/2017 11:24

It's interesting because my dd would not have let him get away with a 'surprise' that involved him taking one of the kids. She would kick up a massive fuss and asked why it was a surprise for mummy.

To me henry is so badly written that I can't take scenes seriously that he is in

enochroot · 03/02/2017 11:27

Apropos of nothing except Rob being on the run with a baby....
I was stuck in a slow creeping traffic jam in a snow storm on the M1. I noticed the driver in front fiddle with something on his passenger seat then dash round to the boot and tear a nappy out of a packet, dash back into the car, move forward with the traffic a few yards, then fiddle some more. I saw a smelly nappy being pulled clear and more fiddling before we crept on a bit further.

So, I wonder if Rob's planning included spare nappies.
