In the grand scheme of Ambridge, neither Rex nor Anisha would top my list of horrible people! Wink

LillianGish · 31/01/2017 11:54

Whatever is going on in Brighton must surely be something that proves Jill right - so an abandoned wife or girlfriend at the very least, more likely a child as well though I can't believe Rex wouldn't have said something about it especially when he and Toby were in competition. I don't believe Rex doesn't know what's going on otherwise what was the "is this going to be Brighton all over again" comment for? (Of course the SW might now be rewriting history in the hope that we haven't beeen paying attention). Like BOOP I'm expecting something spectacular after all this build up although as I think I commented around Christmas the only thing that would really surprise us now is if he turns out to have some huge charitable enterprise going on down there.

ppeatfruit · 31/01/2017 12:02

Lilian I bet that the SWs quake in their shoes when they come on here (they MUST do) !!

I don't think that Anisha is 'too good to be true' She's a bit of a player and cocky with it. IMO

Toomuchtea · 31/01/2017 12:32

I interpreted Rex's conversation (though was listening while driving so might well have missed something) as meaning that he wasn't telling Pip everything because he thought it was up to Toby to do that, there being some things that are better coming from the person involved.

I don't like Anisha either, and can't believe that the future of the business wouldn't have been discussed, particularly if Anisha had had to get a business loan to buy into the practice. Or perhaps they did discuss it, but her modus operandi was to up the ante once she was in. But as the SWs haven't told us, we don't know.

Cromwell1536 · 31/01/2017 12:36

Ah, Vango, now you've made me like Anisha! I don't know, I think Ambridge could do with a proper female go-getter. The last restless, rip-roaring, ambitious soul was Siobhan, and she was punished for her feisty ways with loss of Brian to the family fold, single parenthood and early death from cancer. Can we expect a fatal equestrian accident for Anisha should she get too big for her boots?

Vango · 31/01/2017 12:41

Excellent decision Cromwell. Now if I could just get you to re-consider your position re. Jill?.......😁

Cromwell1536 · 31/01/2017 13:06

Well, Vango, you never know! But, today at least, I think that really would be overplaying your hand...Wimmin of Brookfield definitely on my pet-hate list.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/01/2017 14:26

So its looking as though 'brighton' is just a history of benders with dodgy pals, which Rex knows about, which has resulted in charlotte or Mattie being upduffed which he was unaware of? Hmm I hope its not that banal.

Minimammoth · 31/01/2017 15:55

Give got a feeling it's going to be a 'Good old Toby' story. Looking after a doolally relative or something. Just when we are all thinking the evils.

TheAntiBoop · 31/01/2017 16:05

I think I suggested a while back that he was caring for a friend who has some problems due to an accident caused by Toby.

Can't see it myself though.

Vango · 31/01/2017 16:18

Imagine smug Pip if Toby turned out to be a hero?

No wonder Charlie, Rob, Harrison, et al. never discuss friends outside Ambridge if Pip's reaction is anything to go by!

ErrolTheDragon · 31/01/2017 17:42

Nah. Toby wouldn't even go to help look after his own dad, 'rescuing' Jill was plenty enough heroism for him.

LeninaCrowne · 31/01/2017 18:24

I hope the story behind what's going down in Brighton isn't as lame as the story behind Rob not being the daddy of Jess's baby.

Mootsie · 31/01/2017 18:33

Does anyone who watches 'Call The Midwife' have a little chuckle because the nasty new nun is called Sister Ursula? Grin

I thought it utterly ridiculous that Anisha seemed to be raising all this about the equipment/ facilities now for the first time and it had not been discussed before. Such a discussion and a full business plan would have had to have been a prerequisite to her buy in ( I speak as a partner in a professional organisation).

As for Rex, I think it is plausible that "this had better not be Brightin all over again" could feasibly just mean Toby going off on benders, and that Rex really has told PIp all he knows. What struck me was how relatively unperturbed Pip seemed to be that her bf had a history of serious drug use. Perhaps all the young farmers are off their wellies on coke and speed every weekend, but she strikes me as somewhat sheltered and straight-laced in that regard.

Brillig · 31/01/2017 19:22

Yes, 'forget about Jill, you're the one who matters, Pip', or words to that effect.

God, Ruth is utterly beyond the pale.

As usual I found myself massively distracted by Pip's enunciation. So, I think she says:

Buh-Hi
Or
Muh-Hi

And when Ruth asked her when Toby had left she answered

Sun..Day?

What is that all about? Why doesn't the director/producer notice? Confused
